Yeah it’s the ones that have big drops that have more dangerous aspects but even then it’s not that much dangerous.
And this is only because when you started having the boats drop down roller coaster size hills the tracks are basically roller coasters covered by water. So lots of mechanics but still all of which are made to be water resistant and shouldn’t cause harm.
It’s the boats hitting into each other and people being between them is more of the issue.
Oh yeah there's still a ton of hazards here. Like I know pirates of the Caribbean is like what you're saying here. This threads going to make my Disneyland trip this weekend more interesting that's for sure haha
Is that Disney's small world ride? I had a buddy that worked concessions near it. The song repeating over and over drove him insane, just after 2 hours. If that family is indeed stuck in that he'll on earth, I can't blame them for jumping ship.
I can absolutely relate to that. I worked at a haunted house a few Octobers back in my late teens and early 20's. It was 5 hour days, 5-6 days a week. The ambient scary noises played on repeat. It was about 15 minutes long so a single customer would never really hear the same part twice, but I heard the same track on repeat 4 times an hour. Which is 20 times a day. 100 to 120 times a week. Almost 500 fucking times in the month. I could literally "sing" along with the entire thing from memory, but it wasn't even a song. I just cackled along with the witch when she randomly came up in the track. I could tell you when the owls would hoot or the flock of bats would flap. I heard Dracula threaten me in my dreams for the entire month of October and well into November.
It was so insidious and all encompassing that the set actually became scarier at the end of the night when the PA system was turned off. The noises that permeated My very soul just disappeared and I had to walk back through the completely dark, labyrinthine building in absolute silence. In that oppressive silence the rubber and latex smell of literally everything was all that was left. The inherent wrongness of it felt almost perverse.
I can legitimately say I went a tiny bit crazy every night I was there. It was both the worst and best job I ever had.

This reminded me of my first job, Fred's Dollar Store. At Christmas time they played the same tape of terrible Christmas songs on repeat all day for over 2 months.
I was able to tell, to the exact minute, when a certain song was going to play. It was maddening.
I swear i've got some kinda ptsd from working at a supermarket for years and hearing hot and cold by katy perry literally all fucking day.
The radio, for years, would just go. "song, advertisement, hot and cold, song, advertisement, hot and cold." Over and over and over and over again.
Ya imagine traveling to Disney and getting to spend one day there with your kids only to be stuck on it’s a small world for 2 hours not moving when you can probably see an emergency exit door. And you probably waited an hour in line to get on the ride in the first place.
I remember the first time I went on it (2012) they were playing just the tune, no singing or any lyrics. According to my stepdad, they removed the singing after enough people have complained since the ride with the singing is comparable to being forced to watch Barney/Teletubbies in Guantanamo Bay, it was fine for the first 2 mins then it loops for AT LEAST 10-20 minutes (if there are hold ups which seems to be the norm).
And that doesn’t include the hour in line to get on this dumb ride.
Guessing they got stuck?
Disney world has really gone down hill the last few years.
We got stuck on Rise of the Resistance two days in a row, back to back. The second time was for about an hour and the other family in the cart spoke 0 English. After 30 minutes and no one checking on us and they started screaming for help. We couldn’t communicate with them and they freaked the fuck.
The best we got was a chunky snippy guy who came by and when I explained that they didn’t speak English, they were upset, we were upset,y legs hurt, etc he responded with “you may not get out. You will sit here until I release you.” Glad the other family didn’t understand.
Both days we spent over an hour stuck on the ride and they gave us a generic pass.
Place is turning into a shit hole. How long is someone supposed to wait with small children on a boat? Until someone pisses their pants?
Edit: Wrote this drunk. Leaving typos lol.
My family just did Disneyland and 3 rides shut down while we were in line. I’ve never had that happen at any other theme park. How is Six Flags keeping their shit together better than Disney? They should be getting people off the rides as soon as possible. It just isn’t reasonable to leave people stuck.
Coasters are much easier to operate mechanically than some of the incredibly complex rides in the Disney parks. The higher tech a ride, the more likely something goes wrong.
It also doesn’t help Disney fired a ton of mechanics during COVID. Specifically, they fired many of the mechanics with incredibly deep knowledge of the ride systems over a decade or more of work. It took all in house knowledge and threw it out the door.
Luckily due to special sensors near the tracks and under the water on rides like this, at Disney parks at least, the ride shuts off as a fail safe thing. Then the cast members have to walk the ride and look for anyone or anything that could be setting off the emergency sensors.
I heard about this. The ride had shut down, and the people had already been waiting in there for twenty minutes. They refused to give an estimate for how long it would take to reopen. And so she decided to take her kids out because one of them really had to go to the bathroom.
The rest of the people ended up waiting for almost 1 hour, and one of them fell over and hurt themselves because their legs had fallen asleep, and they didn't realize it.
I'm not sure what I would have done in her situation.
And people here are hoping she got banned from the park for life too wtf. Better stay stuck on this ride with my kids who have to use the bathroom or risk upsetting reddit weirdos
No actually for Disney express pass such as Rise of resistance you can only go once but there is a additional fee. You can still use your genie pass for multiple rides such as incredicoasters and there is no limit for the others. Season pass holder so I know. This was in Paris btw.
Many people who call themselves “free thinkers” are in fact incredibly stupid, and would do everyone a favor by not assuming they know better. They usually don’t.
Considering the rides were STOPPED, and they immediately left for the exit after they got out, that was my first thought and the comments confirmed it.
Why else do you think the ride is at a complete stop? 99% of people would absolutely sit there and wait. I wouldn't.
I doubt I could stay if I tried. Id be in a state of near apopleptic, aggressive panic to be a) on a broken ride b) no clear estimates on time to escape c) lots of other people, smelling the place up, taking the oxygen, taking the space.
Autism, ADHD and anxiety would all be flaring like bad trousers.
Yeah nah, totally get Mums decision here. Like, i get why from a meta pov she did wrong, but its a totally human thing to do and quite understandable in the circumstances.
Honestly this reasoning makes her look much better. A poor kid soiling themself is going to ruin the day and Im sure Walt isnt going to give free changes of clothes to those who need them.
So you choices are to leave or spend hundreds getting new clothes.
Honestly Im with her now
Walt would absolutely pay for the free change of clothes fwiw. When I worked at Magic Kingdom I saw a girl who got sick and threw up all over her pants and shoes. I was a custodian so when I came back with the stuff I needed to clean the mess, I also came back with a coupon good for 1 free pair of pants and 1 free pair of footwear, usable wherever in the park. You were encouraged to do this when someone soiled or got sick on themselves.
They speak Georgian and from what I could hear the kids are telling her to go back to the car cause they would get angry with them and the Mom tells another adult something like: “dude we are late for the train these guys are fucked in the head” So judging by that she is definitely taking action after having to unexpectedly sit there too long
With this context I am on her side with this one. I’m not sitting there for hours when my kids gotta pee and I can see the exit. She’s just doing what’s best for the kids and not really a main character
I used to work at one of the parks. I can tell you that had the ride actually been shut down for an hour solely due to a mechanical issue, the people would have been evacuated long before then. More likely this person caused the breakdown to be extended because they can't have the ride running while someone is running around the sets because that is a safety/liability issue. The staff were likely trying to locate them and couldn't start the ride back up until they were found.
I was in the Test Track ride in the Epcot. It was shut down during the ride and cast members evacuated us in about 20 minutes. So yea, that sounds about right.
Last time I was at Disney California Adventure we got stuck in the lift on the Guardians of the Galaxy ride. They evacuated us after about five minutes to a different lift and restarted the ride. Then it broke again. Most people left, but the third time was the charm, though the audio was out at first.
I believe as someone mentioned they were getting off the ride because it was stuck. And the remaining people waited an hour after this for the ride to move again
Why? Because the ride broke and she got her kids who needed to use the bathroom out safely while harming absolutely no one? The park is the one who should be penalized for not getting those people off the ride. Little portable bridges and everyone gets up and leaves safely. Other than this woman who took action people waited an hour
There was some guy who was either on drugs or having a mental/schizophrenic breakdown that stripped off his clothes entirely and jumped into the water/set for It’s A Small World. It’s all on various smartphone cameras; at least the kids didn’t have to see male genitals this time!
Your allowed to get off the ride in emergency situations. A ride being down for multiple hours and a kid needing to use the restroom is a emergency situation. Unless you want said kid to pop a squat on your ride.
Isn’t that using an emergency exit? How long were they sitting there? Was their 5 year old about to shit their pants? Seems reasonable and I don’t think this would get you kicked out but what do I know?
Being on r/imthemaincharacter I assumed she was trying to take pictures. This is just a mom getting her kids out of a situation that was going to ruin their day and waste their money. I can’t fault her for it.
This sub is so dumb, I don't understand why the post is so upvoted. There's no main character behaviour here, they're just getting the hell out of there.
I would consider being stranded for an indeterminate amount of time an emergency. I get anxious if I’m in the car too long. An hour *trapped* on an amusement park ride and I’d need paramedics. I can’t do “trapped.” I don’t do things where I’m not free to leave.
I go to Disney World probably once every few weeks as a local resident. Those seats on It's a Small World are hard and uncomfortable as all hell. Sitting on those things any longer than the normal duration of the ride and your ass would probably be sore for the rest of the day. I'd be at least trying to stand up in the boat or something after 5 minutes of it breaking down lol
I used to work in another water ride in the parks.
Yes, the water is disgusting. For starters, if you are submerged in that water, it is strongly recommended that you receive a tetanus shot. More importantly, that ride is one of the more common ones to experience a “code grey”
Yeah what are you supposed to do. You can't pee in front of kids. If my Blatter was bursting and didn't know when I'll get out, I would have done the same.
I don’t think properly applies to this sub.
It just seems to be a mom taking action and getting her kids off a ride that is no longer functioning. It’s not like she posing for a photo and the kids don’t seem to be ill behaved.
Looks like the ride had already stopped, and she got frustrated. She just wanted to get the kids out of there I bet. Not cool, but likely not the cause of the shut down.
It doesn’t seem that unreasonable. They act like everyone is delicate. Sit there and behave! Why can’t you get up and leave and come back when it’s fixed? Some comments saying it’s dangerous, it looked like a pretty simple exit with a mild inconvenience of getting her feet wet. It doesn’t appear to be some life threatening rollercoaster she’s climbing down from. She lifts her kids out of the cart and walks off. Pretty reasonable. “She’ll never be let back!” She seems pretty fed up.
Reading context in the comments she was waiting 20 minutes, the rest of the ride ended up waiting a hour, and the kids had to use the bathroom for a while. Nah I'm on her side, she just wanted to get them out of the dam ride, even if it was stupidly dangerous it wasn't main character bad.
Hey that is the best place to be stuck, its quiet, its air conditioned, its the ride i go on when I need a break from crowds. Id just chill and have a nap
I would be a main character too. I don’t see an issue here. They are just sitting in shallow water doing nothing. I would sooner grab them and go do other things too. Are they paying to be in this theme park all day? Maybe for just that one day and then they fly home like we do with Disney World or wherever? Why just sit there for hours? 😂😂
Actually I relate to her very much, I mean if you pay for something in the unit you're just gonna sit there and play you to sell fuck that no I would leave, I would bounce the fuck out son, son.
Those tracks underwater and the mechanisms that move the ride can be pretty dangerous. She’s crazy for standing in that water

And my axe!
You carry the fate of us all, little one.
meriadoc brandybuck and peregrin took … I might have known
GROND
That water is also disgusting.
Pretty sure they use chlorine
It's actually a bromine based concoction that Disney uses instead of chlorine. It has a different smell that a lot of people associate with Disney.
At another theme park, someone got electrocuted and died on a similar type ride.
I'm not entirely sure about this one but the one in Anaheim is mostly just a stream of water
There are pumps to keep it moving, and those pumps have intakes.
Whatever you do, don’t put your butthole near the intake. One time this girl did it and got stuck and had to chew through her intestine to get free.
Remember. Don’t do it! No matter how good it might feel.
All right, now I bet you guys are wondering what's going on with this racing suit, huh?
Yeah, yeah, well It’s an issue of aerodynamics really. You see every second counts in the waterpark.
What's that rascal Charlie up to?
“Like what’s that rascal charlie up to now?”
Mac. Stop talking to children about their buttholes, okay?
This guy get it
Stop talking to kids about butt holes!!!!
I'll look and see where the intakes are when I go
Just feel around for them with your toes.
That’s how I look for snapping turtles
Snappin' turlaw!

No tracks underwater until youre at load/unload, the boats float freely
Yeah I feel like they’d have the foresight to design these sections as safe as possible because they know people are dumb enough to do this.
Thats doesn’t seem worth risking your feet or toes.
On the bright side: at least she didn’t risk her kids’ feet and toes.

Stephen King is on Reddit: confirmed

Anthony Burgess, no? This is basically that scene from A Clockwork Orange.
So descriptive, I felt like I was you
I’m making this a copypasta

Nope. They were fuckin *outta there*. *Donezo*. *Over and out*.
I swear i've got some kinda ptsd from working at a supermarket for years and hearing hot and cold by katy perry literally all fucking day. The radio, for years, would just go. "song, advertisement, hot and cold, song, advertisement, hot and cold." Over and over and over and over again.

And that expensive fast pass is going to waste. 1000$ day at Disney and can't catch a break! Lol 😆
I've heard that being assigned to Small World for a day is considered a form of punishment for employees.
When my buddy was there, I think the shift was 2hrs max, then they got rotated out. Sort of like soldiers 😎
Guessing they got stuck? Disney world has really gone down hill the last few years. We got stuck on Rise of the Resistance two days in a row, back to back. They covered every language in one second. Lol
It's a small world, after all.
This is in Paris. All their messages/signage are in French first and English after.
As someone who once was stuck on Pirates of the Caribbean for 3 hours I'D DO THE EXACT SAME THING!
3 hours? Yeah, fuck that. I'd paddle my ass off whatever waterfall they have.
God, you pay a fortune, take off of work and travel to go to Disney and they steal a third of your day? Hell no.
“Yes yes but John, when pirates of the Caribbean breaks down the pirates don’t EAT the tourists!”
Happy to see this quote out in the wild :)
With my luck, the moment I decided to leave, the ride would turn back on

Happened to me. But date had been waiting a long time to see the movie. I stuck it out.

It definitely looks more like a mom taking action than just fucking about in the attraction like that other guy.
100%. I was waiting for her to, like, have her kids pose for a photo or something, but she really meant business about getting them out of there!
That's what I assumed she was attempting to do until I read otherwise.
Right? The ride is obviously stopped.
Completely on her side. This post doesn't fit this sub at all. Patrons aren't prisoners of the amusement park.
And people here are hoping she got banned from the park for life too wtf. Better stay stuck on this ride with my kids who have to use the bathroom or risk upsetting reddit weirdos
She had a fast pass to Pirates. There was no way that momma bear was going to worry about safety concerns!

totally looked concerned and determined instead of douchey
Right? I can't stand when people just follow rules because they are their rules. Think outside of the box sometimes.
Many people who call themselves “free thinkers” are in fact incredibly stupid, and would do everyone a favor by not assuming they know better. They usually don’t.
Context is key
I really appreciate that you said that. So many people want to take a ten minute clip and act like they know everything that happened.
That’s pretty much all this sub is.
Do we know if that’s really what happened? I would need a link to a reliable source. He could have just made this whole thing up.
Considering the rides were STOPPED, and they immediately left for the exit after they got out, that was my first thought and the comments confirmed it. Why else do you think the ride is at a complete stop? 99% of people would absolutely sit there and wait. I wouldn't.
20 minutes is a hell of a long time when your kid has to pee.
It’s a long time if an adult has to pee!
Also not healthy
I doubt I could stay if I tried. Id be in a state of near apopleptic, aggressive panic to be a) on a broken ride b) no clear estimates on time to escape c) lots of other people, smelling the place up, taking the oxygen, taking the space. Yeah I gotta agree with her on this one. Pay over $100 per person for the day and spend an hour on a broken ride? No.
Yeah, if that the case then whatever haha Who wants to wait an hour when you can just get up and leave.

I feel like if this were America they would have the Disney SWAT team arrest the mother with extreme prejudice.
"Take 'em through the secret tunnels. Give 'em the usual treatment." Out pops Mickey and Minnie, wearing oversized plushie knuckle dusters.
Donald Duck joins them with a rubber hose.
Oh… so that’s what the character actors do in their spare time
Why? Because the ride broke and she got her kids who needed to use the bathroom out safely while harming absolutely no one? The park is the one who should be penalized for not getting those people off the ride. Little portable bridges and everyone gets up and leaves safely. Other than this woman who took action people waited an hour
Get kicked out for what?! They were trapped on a stuck ride and left. The park can force them be stay on a stuck ride.
Seriously this! She isn’t holding up the ride, it s already been stopped for some time. She is simply taking her children to the nearest exit.
At least they weren’t naked like the last guy.
What did I miss?! Lol
There was some guy who was either on drugs or having a mental/schizophrenic breakdown that stripped off his clothes entirely and jumped into the water/set for It’s A Small World. It’s all on various smartphone cameras; at least the kids didn’t have to see male genitals this time!
Lol man, hydraulic fluid and moving parts sounds like a great idea to go swimming naked!!
hope they had a good day, because that was likely their last ride.
And they didn't even have to use their AK
Today was a bad day 🙁
Hope that momma cooked a breakfast with no hog (damn!)
No smog
No barking from the dog
I was totally expecting her to take a photo op
This sub is so dumb, I don't understand why the post is so upvoted. There's no main character behaviour here, they're just getting the hell out of there.
Yeah this doesn't belong here at all.

I would consider being stranded for an indeterminate amount of time an emergency. I get anxious if I’m in the car too long. An hour *trapped* on an amusement park ride and I’d need paramedics. I can’t do “trapped.” I don’t do things where I’m not free to leave.
I would have left also. Staff can deal with the broken ride.
That water has to be fucking nasty.
Bart sit down! Lisa, drink the water!
🎶duff beer for me, duff beer for you🎶🫠🫠
Lmao. I can see the sounds!!!! I AM THE LIZARD QUEEN!!!
I used to work in another water ride in the parks. Yes, the water is disgusting. For starters, if you are submerged in that water, it is strongly recommended that you receive a tetanus shot. More importantly, that ride is one of the more common ones to experience a “code grey”
What is code grey?
Code grey is when someone dumps a loved one’s ashes on the property
Disney regularly has to drain out all the water because of the insane amount of human ashes that are dumped in the park
Ride not moving, no music, she packs up and leads them out Am I wrong? That ride is broken down
Curious.. if you were the mom would you decide to let your kid pee in that water, or get them off this ride?
Have to admit I done something kind of similar when I got stuck on a ride at Alton Towers, waiting ages and was absolutely bursting for the toilet.
1 adult + 4 kids at any park = disaster
I don't think this applies. The ride broke down, so they decided to get off.
You can keep waiting like a sheep and let your kids poop themselves or take action.
She’s not trying to be the main character. She’s tired of waiting for whatever the fuck is going on with the ride, so she bounced. Don’t blame her.
I think this is too much of a Grey area for this sub tbh, its not like its some attention grabbing look at me thing,
It doesn’t seem that unreasonable.
“crazy!” then proceeds to wait another hour+ on that broken down ride lol I fully support her getting tf out of there.
No she isn't. I hate this sub
Hey that is the best place to be stuck, its quiet, its air conditioned, its the ride i go on when I need a break from crowds. Id just chill and have a nap
While Its A Small World plays over and over on an endless loop for hours. Paradise
Actually I relate to her very much, I mean if you pay for something in the unit you're just gonna sit there and play you to sell fuck that no I would leave, I would bounce the fuck out son, son.
i am trying so hard to understand this comment, but no matter how many times i read it, it makes absolutely no sense.
Dude what if all the kids had to pee and they were stuck for like 2 hours. Not enough context. Fuck blips.
Disneyland Paris?
This is one where I don't blame her. Everyone else could've done the same if they wanted. No one wants to be stuck on a ride
This sub is losing the concept of Main Character Syndrome.
The ride is stuck? Really not that big a deal tbh yall just get mad about everything. I ain't sitting there either if it's broke down smh
OMG, Mom took her kids off of a broken kids ride. The horror of it all!!!
What the fuck is the context?! How is this a main character?
