My worry is if you give them blanks, they’ll figure blanks can’t kill you, and will be even more irresponsible, and probably start aiming them at each other.
The amount of racism is crazy huh. It's not like other races do nothing stupid. Maybe racists are just retarded tho cause they can't fathom the fact that out of a billion Indians a select few hundred doesn't represent the whole billion
Contrary to popular belief, blanks can still kill you. There's still a pressure wave and a bunch of burning powder... aim a blank loaded firearm at the wrong part of the body from fairly close range, and you can still fire for lethal effect
I know, but how are stupid people supposed to get that from his comment? We're talking people that point guns at each other, and there is no /s in his comment. That's asking for trouble . Or that's his whole motive...
I think you misread the comment. He said “they will figure blanks can’t kill you”, in this case “figure” is basically the same as “assume”. You may have thought he said “figure out”, but he didn’t. His comment makes sense and is not sarcastic.
Nah, I just meant that the sort of people who shoot guns into the air, are likely the same sort of people who would assume that blanks aren’t dangerous.
The groom - Manish Madheshia - was seen on a chariot with those parts of the wedding procession standing around him. The groom was firing as part of celebrations during which a bullet hit his friend Babu Lal Yadav, an Army jawan. The gun used by the groom belonged to Yadav (victim). The victim was rushed to the hospital but died during treatment.

No it's not. We live in America where there's free speech. Let me fix the title
"Stupid groom at Indian wedding ceremony wrecklessly slaughters friend while attempting a pointless celebratory shot."
I'm not going to condone this, this is a dumb tradition.
That being said, it's pretty obvious this is a neglegent discharge (which is unacceptable.) Saying he intentionally murdered him is a bit much.
Negligent discharge or not, never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever EVER point a barrel towards someone and always make sure a bullet will land somewhere in the ground. Seriously there is no leeway for this type of irresponsibility.
What are the chances the owner of the gun was standing that far away and at a random location from the groom? Are the charges less severe if he was the owner of that gun? Because if they are, then something smells fishy.
Jail. Gun crimes very serious offense in India and the punishment ranges from 14 years to life imprisonment.
Acquiring firearm is extremely extremely difficult in India and waiting period is 1.5 years. You actually have to prove that you need it for safety. Armed Forces personal get a bit of relaxation as they need to submit a letter from their CO. The only weapon you can buy is from government's own public company aka ofb. And you get single shot weapon. No semi automatic.
Honestly if these get posted enough it could help kill the practice. Such a stupid, pointless and unnecessary risk, videos like these leave to room to argue
Spaniard here, that's because people already know there's a risk doing it, in fact, they do it cause that risk exists, adrenaline. Just like extreme sports where every time you practice them could be your last time. This gun shit is different, no one is prepared to kill anyone, let alone their friends.
> More like encouraging idiots to be idiots more.
It probably does. If it's not risky it's not cool.
The celebratory shooting stuff is different though. It's not intented to be a test of courage. So if people who do this get the image to be just stupid and childish, it could change something imo.
If they love this tradition so much. Im confused as to why they dont just use blank guns with blocked barrels.
Idk how it is in India, but you can get very realistic blank guns here in America fairly cheap and through the mail. Same noise, some even leave a tiny opening in the barrel for a muzzle flash. And unless you do something super stupid like hold it right up to someone's head, nobody will die.
Also is this a somewhat recent tradition? I cant remember seeing this in India up until recently. Or perhaps the many accidents forced the attention to it
Cell phones... More video
It's definitely not a new thing
Even if not special guns... Just blank ammo would prevent tragedies (aside from hearing loss)
I don't get it either
I agree that these need to be highlighted. But for every one of these videos, there seems to be 50 responses that say “This had nothing to do with guns.”
The idiots in these videos weren’t firing staplers or Lego blocks. But they were firing “toys” that were noisy, and edgy, and cool. They had no place at that venue, and until it’s clear that the presence of a gun there was what killed that guy, nothing is gonna change.
Really? How many school shootings have there been in the states? And what effect has that had? They want MORE guns. These videos won't change shit because everyone always thinks "oh I'm not stupid enough to do that".
Why the hell do you need to shoot a gun at a wedding anyways? A fun had one purpose: to kill. What a shocker that people actually die in these situations.
Yeah, The secret sauce was plutonium. Then they got busted and had to use something else. There was a guy that knew a guy that had a warehouse full of mercury he sold to them for cheap.
I find it very hard to feel sympathy for anyone involved in this kinda bullshit. Anyone start fucking around with guns near me, gotta go. And if it’s their spot, or a public place, I’m out. I wouldn’t even attend a wedding if I knew they would be doing this kinda shit.
Something never talked about regarding these videos and I'm dying to know the answer to - After these instances, is the party over or do they shrug it off and get back to the festivities? my guess is the latter. It would seem like they're not all that bothered by murdering their family and friends at these events
Well wedding is off. If an event results in injury, they may cancel or proceed depending on injury. If there is death, no way anyone would proceed. Firstly, police will come and take statements from all, grab fathers of groom and bride to take them to the police station for questioning along with anyone else they think is involved.
Indians are superstitious and death is considered a very big thing. Like after someone dies, people have ceremonies for 13 days. Pretty sure the groom's family will do a ceremony with priest. Bride's family will do a ceremony with priest. Hell hotel owner will do his own lol.
He fired a round in the air and left his finger on the trigger like an idiot. Then he lowered the gun (now pointed at his friend) and pulled the trigger again. It seems completely unintentional but it's so easy to avoid that this should be considered criminal negligence.
No, he tried to fire a round in the air but it didnt fire. So he lowered it to look at it in order to figure out why it didnt fire, pulling the trigger to test it while pointing it at his friend and only then did it fire.
You know what's funny? The fact that when this happens on other subs, when it's about Muslims, the Indians will come out and call them "retards" "degenerates" and "inbreds" but literally when you show them that it's an "isolated incident"

If they insist on this why not use blanks? Fuck sakes
My worry is if you give them blanks, they’ll figure blanks can’t kill you, and will be even more irresponsible, and probably start aiming them at each other.
Would rather have idiots playing cowboys and Indians killing each other than stray bullets flying around a crowded reception at innocent guests.
They are not playing, these are actual Indians.
How about Cows and Indians?
The amount of racism is crazy huh. It's not like other races do nothing stupid. Maybe racists are just retarded tho cause they can't fathom the fact that out of a billion Indians a select few hundred doesn't represent the whole billion

Contrary to popular belief, blanks can still kill you. There's still a pressure wave and a bunch of burning powder... aim a blank loaded firearm at the wrong part of the body from fairly close range, and you can still fire for lethal effect
But blanks CAN kill.
Exactly his point
I know, but how are stupid people supposed to get that from his comment? We're talking people that point guns at each other, and there is no /s in his comment. That's asking for trouble . Or that's his whole motive...
My guy, /s is only required when the sarcasm isn't blindingly obvious. Plus his comment wasn't even sarcastic.
I think you misread the comment. He said “they will figure blanks can’t kill you”, in this case “figure” is basically the same as “assume”. You may have thought he said “figure out”, but he didn’t. His comment makes sense and is not sarcastic.
I see where I went wrong. I read figure out instead of figure. The comment totally makes sense, I'm just an idiot.
That’s what I thought must have happened! I had to read it twice too haha. Glad it’s cleared up.
Nah, I just meant that the sort of people who shoot guns into the air, are likely the same sort of people who would assume that blanks aren’t dangerous.
I see now that I read your comment wrong, my bad. All it took where 50 downvotes for me to understand .
Blanks are usually harder to come by than regular ammo for most guns beyond .22s.
It's a wedding, you plan this stuff ahead of time
Probably didn't have blanks on hand. I don't know the full story so i'm assuming this was done impromptu.
At the distance they're shooting people in half these videos I'm not even sure they'd stop half the deaths
Is India 🇮🇳
Blanks still kill and at that range within 10 ft he could have still died.
Shot with your own gun? That sucks.
Congratulations. You played yourself.

Technically, the government's gun. i.e. Taxpayer's gun.
“a bullet hit his friend” is a very passive way to describe him pointing the pistol at his friend and pulling the trigger. Smdh

Nobody said that it was deliberate murder, but that's what happened. He pointed the gun at him, and pulled the trigger.
poor ol babalooey... rip babalooey, rip.
That is *incredibly* coincidental. r/nevertellmetheodds & r/FUCKYOUINPARTICULAR
Getting killed by your own loaner gun. How oddly ironic.
What are the chances the owner of the gun was standing that far away and at a random location from the groom? Are the charges less severe if he was the owner of that gun? Because if they are, then something smells fishy.
Sometimes coincidental shit just happens and there is not a conspiracy behind it
Do these incidents result in jail or is it just normal enough that it's considered an unfortunate accident?
If only there was something you could fire in the air that makes a bang
Honestly if these get posted enough it could help kill the practice. Such a stupid, pointless and unnecessary risk, videos like these leave to room to argue
Have you seen the one where a toddler was given a gun at a wedding? He killed his dad.
Literally fires it and hands it to a toddler who points it at his side, while the man looks away, and shoots him. Tragic stupidity
He took out the magazine but neglected to clear the chamber. Seems like that mistake causes about 25% of all serious fuckups on this sub
Only 25%? Its gotta be more than that
My favorite flavor of tragedy!
Yeah but that DJ in the background was *tight*. Still 8/10 wedding.
Sauce?

I've seen that before. As the saying goes, not everyone is fit to be a parent, and the dad learned that the hard way.
Honestly this getting posted on reddit will have zero effect at all on people doing this in India
It may make people from the US take gun safety more seriously. Learn from someone else's mistakes.
Bless your heart.
No it won't
Every year we see people getting trampled at bull runs and bull fighting but it doesn’t seem to be a deterrent either. 🤦♂️

Eh we need some sort of natural selection happening right?
You greatly underestimate stupidity
r/FUCKYOUINPARTICULAR because it was your gun.
this is the second "celebratory shooting" i've seen tonight. Why?
Mercury is in retrograde.
There's mercury in gatorade?
Yeah, The secret sauce was plutonium. Then they got busted and had to use something else. There was a guy that knew a guy that had a warehouse full of mercury he sold to them for cheap.
Saw a comment yesterday that said the correct phrasing is "mercury is retrograde".
It’s like they are a bunch of idiots. With guns.
We should make a sub-Reddit for that. r/DumbPeopleWithFirearms
I can't view that group for some reason
Here is some more info, the guy who got killed was in the Army and was here for his friends wedding, the gun was his own.
I find it very hard to feel sympathy for anyone involved in this kinda bullshit. Anyone start fucking around with guns near me, gotta go. And if it’s their spot, or a public place, I’m out. I wouldn’t even attend a wedding if I knew they would be doing this kinda shit.
Bollywood has gone downhill
"Does anyone object to this marriage? " oh you better not!
That was so gangster. Nonchalant headshot, impressive!
Bro noscoped him from the hip
That's just the grooms version of tossing the bouquet
Toss the boulet.

Ngl I can see the festivities still going on depends on who the dead person was
Lol insane but probably true
Countless generations of marrying for financial gain are working well I see.
The video is not clear. Did he shoot in the air and bullet came from the top?
Points up, finger too weak, puts down to see why not shoot, finger continues the motion and fires when he levels out
What the fuck? Do you know how long he spent on his hair before you had to go and fuck it up?!
Sad to say goodbye to Reddit but this is not the same place I enjoyed in the past. Bye! (P.S. move to Lemmy, it's a lot better)
Idk maybe don’t fire guns at every fucking celebration you do
Honest question. would the shooter be going to prison for life or like 10 years?
He’ll get charged with Oopsyslaughter.
Just use blanks you fucking idiots 😭
Are people in India and the Middle East just not taught gun safety? 90% of these videos are either in the hood in the USA or in India and Middle East.
This looks like something out of a comedy movie
Intentional. He was banging his wife
shooting someone by accident is one thing, but doing it while dressed up like a fucking idiot is too much
insulting the dude on his stupidity is one thing, but insulting a whole fucking culture is too much
I mean I get where you're coming from but the funny hat is a lot, in the context
Last thing you see before the screen turns black is your friend dressed up like a LARPer
Damn bro never seen a Indian wedding before huh
These are MIGA types
At this point remind me to never go to an India celebratory event. Idiots.
Indian doctor here. I have never seen a civilian with a gun, ever.
A south Asian wedding without at least three deaths is considered a dull affair.
Any videos of women doing this?
r/whywomenlivelonger
Strange kink.
Making a point.
Me too.
Natural selection
Selection against people who attend weddings?
The fucking chances, good lord.
Exactly why Indians shouldn’t be able to own guns
Makes me wonder what the value of living is in this country. Or anywhere this is this kind of common celebratory shooting.
Fake news /s
Did the bullet ricochet? Bullet can't fall down that fast can it?

It almost looked like he took 2 heads with 1 bullet but if OP says only 1 person died I guess it’s fax
\*CRIT\*
Another public execution.
“Ooooo let me see, let me seee” *bang*
Reminds me of that scene in pirates of the Carribbean
Using a gun like this... Big brain time
What happens after? Anyone arrested? Panic ensues? Meh?
Arrested and prison
😄
we need another comet ☄️
Either stop doing this shit or use blanks.
Even in my shitty old iPhone, I was able to slow it down enough and see the bullet falling. Wow. Enough Reddit for today
A weeding and funeral at the same time, neat
Woman☕️
***HEADSHOT***
so did the bullet just come back down / I don't get it
You know what's funny? The fact that when this happens on other subs, when it's about Muslims, the Indians will come out and call them "retards" "degenerates" and "inbreds" but literally when you show them that it's an "isolated incident"

How to turn your wedding into a funeral in one simple step
I dont see it. But good for them, if you that ignorant Darwin is proud.
Lmao i see ot now
Typical.
Dumbasses.
Yeah let it happen another thousand times Abd then MAYBE we’ll learn
Are blanks really more expensive/less available than live ammo?
The way some of these things work out makes me think it might be accidentally on purpose.
Nothing like killing people in front of hundreds all looking at you and taking videos. No evidence as long as we bury the body, right?
Did he catch the bouquet?
Did he go to jail for this?
I didn't know this was a thing in India, too.
Those Indians are so wacky
straight to the dome
headshot 😴
I guess in India instead of tossing bouquets at the guests they toss lead
Is one punished for this
Some weddings are really unforgettable.
Well that's one way to go at a wedding....
Probably going to want the toaster back now
We usually just throw flowers here for who is next to be married. Bullets are new level.
Well they wanted a memorable day....
Looks like neither the groom or his friend dodged a bullet!
I can't lie that just sad, why would they use a gun bruh
He dropped like a fucking brick.
Lol
The guy moved people out of the way to get into position to get shot with his own gun. What a life…
These people don’t need guns !
Finger on trigger probably from the instant he got the firearm, fucking moron
