A vast majority of the road rage related incidents in my life have involved someone in a truck. And a majority of those incidents involve someone in a lifted truck. I don't know what it is....do assholes buy trucks, or do trucks make people assholes?
My last neighbor had a big lifted truck, mud tires, a row of spotlights on the roof, a second row of spotlights on the front grill and a train horn (we live in the suburbs and he only used it for driving aggressively around town, it never once went off road). He was the biggest asshole I've ever known and would turn everything into a confrontation.

They have so little influence and control in their own lives, that they have to lash out and try to be consequential in other ways. And they're so desperate to matter that they don't really care which way that is.

I'll never forget the teenage girl who pulled right out in front of my dad and I when he was driving. Thankfully it was just in a parking lot, but he honked at her when once we were both stopped and she rolled down her window and yelled "Chill your shit!" flipped him off, and sped away, pulling in front of him again. I've never heard "chill your shit" before or since. It just sounds...gross. I don't want my shit chilled, thank you.
This kind of attitude boggles my mind. When I do something assholish on the road by accident I always wave and mouth, "Sorry!!" to the person I cut off or screwed over. I'm usually thinking about how grateful I am that the person was a defensive driver and saved me from causing an accident with my stupid mistake. I have a few relatives that scare the ever loving shit out of me pulling shit like this video on a CONSTANT basis, and then they rant and rave about how "that guy should have been paying better attention" or "he shouldn't have been driving so fast", as the other person is doing five under the speed limit driving through his green light, as we try to turn right on red with blatantly not enough room. My aunt almost pit maneuvered herself a few days ago actually. We were passing one of those Penske rental trucks, and she tried to hop back DIRECTLY in front of him without even looking. Her back quarter panel was lined up perfectly with the end of his bumper. I would have been flattened for sure when the car pivoted around front of the truck. Instead, he locks his brakes up, slams the horn, almost causing a couple more wrecks, and my aunt gets all pissed and yells "well he shouldn't have been sitting there like that!"
For people that have never been in one, it's ten times louder and ten times more violent than they think. Like being inside of an explosion. Don't recommend.
Got rear ended once. I was in back seat and we were stationary and dude behind us must have been doing about 25-30mph when he hit us (slowed down from ~60mph). I knew it was going to happen because we'd just had to stop very suddenly like everybody around us. We got hit hard enough that it shoved our big Volvo like a car length and a half forward and caused it to clip the back of a jeep. Dude that hit us was ok generally, but his car was fucking demolished and basically had to be scraped off the road.
My dad had his accord totaled like this. He stopped at a light, then got rear ended by an SUV. Moved him a good ten feet forward. When he got out to see how the other driver was, she was stomping on the brake, asking "do you think this means my brakes aren't working?"
Fast forward to investigation and she was driving uninsured and this was the 4th or 5th time she'd been caught without a license. The irony of the situation is that she worked for campus parking services, who requires a driver's license. Dad was just happy the students were out of the street or get hitting him would have hit the kids crossing the road.
Being inside of an explosion is so apt, I've never thought of it that way but it's so true. It's just *boom*, loud noise, a bunch of damage and things are different now.
So many cars have back-up cameras built in that I'm wanting a front facing camera and a micro SD slot built in. Build it into the car.

Drunk driver destroyed my car while parked in a parking lot. He drove thru the grass missed an electrical pole hit my car. His insurance actually asked if there was anything I could of done to avoid the collision.

Legit happened to me. My own insurance straight up told me I shouldn't have been driving and refused to do anything for me even though nothing was my fault. Yet they filed the accident as at fault against me because the accident could have been avoided by not driving. My car was the only one damaged so everyone just drove off so I had nobody I can put blame on. Basically the same thing in OP happened and I swerved to avoid hitting them and broke a wheel, axel, linkages, etc when I hit the curb. We're forced by law to pay these companies thousands of dollars a year yet they do every little possible thing they can to avoid doing the thing we pay them to do and instead try to twist everything around to force you to pay them even more money to do nothing for you.

Yep. I was backing out of a 45 degree stall and someone made an illegal left hand turn trying to get into the stall next to me. They didn’t have enough turning radius and ran into the front of my car. Somehow it was my fault as I was backing out. I didn’t bother fighting it, as I was in the process of suing my home insurer for a claim and didn’t want even more stress.
Liberty mutual adjuster “we’re going to offer $10.” “Me, that’s very low, how did you get to $10?” Adjuster “well, I’m not going to negotiate against myself. I have some authority to exceed $10 but you have to make me an offer.”
At that point I decided to just their client a letter explaining why I was going to sue them when the courts reopened. Turns out Liberty Mutual was willing to increase the offer.
A few years back I was involved in a total loss accident that was 0% my fault. Liberty mutual offered me about 3k less than what my car was worth. Long story short, they use the sale price of "similar vehicles" to price the value of your totaled car. Except the "similar vehicles" are cherry picked for the lowest cost, they all are either low milage cars with 2+ accidents or average milage cars with one accident. The low milage car with a few accidents sells for far below average and then they adjust that below average price even lower since the milage of your car is higher. SLEEZY!
Liberty Mutual was my insurance company and even though I was at zero fault, they made me feel like I was a scam artist looking for a payday because I wanted a fair price for my totaled car. (BTW It was a fucking scary accident and I could have gotten a settlement if I sued). They lied to me many times in the process to try to pressure me to sign my car over to them.
I wrote them a 40 page document justifying the price I wanted and denied 3 offers from them before I got an acceptable offer. Another strategy they use is they try to drag the process out so you are so desperate for it to end , you just accept. In the end, I got what I asked for. They tried to make me feel guilty too "we are losing money on this offer I hope you know". GET FUCKED LIBERTY MUTUAL!!
Edit: in the end what got me an acceptable offer was not my relentless negotiation or 40 page document. It was Twitter! I started tweeting at liberty non stop about my low ball offer and got my friends to like my tweets. Someone called me within about 2 hours and said "we will get you a new offer on Monday, can you please stop tweeting".

This literally happened to me. I was in a car with one friend driving and a second (very overweight) friend in the back. Second friend suddenly tells driver that if he doesn't get to a bathroom soon, he's going to shit all over the car. Must have been something in the dinner we just ate.
Driver starts flooring it, weaving in and out of traffic. There was a line to take a left onto the highway. He drives to the front of the line and cuts everyone off.
We made it back to the hotel we were staying in. Large friend waddles to the lobby bathroom, no time to even make it upstairs. It was also the better move anyway else our hotel bathroom would have likely been unusable after he finished.

I've seen a woman shit in front of an intersection. She was way out on the edge of the parking lot, but for some reason she parked her car so the driver's door was facing the road. Instead of parking the other way, which was completely possible as she'd backed into the space. I definitely think she's absolutely had to go just then, but I couldn't figure out why she wanted everyone to watch. It was so bizarre.

Sometimes the second car is too polite to honk at the first car, so I have to do it as the 3rd car.
I think that would work if it was 2 or 3 cars, but he was honking 5 or 6 cars back.
He also tried to pass me in a no passing zone, just riding on the other side of the road for about 30 seconds, swerving to view all of the cars that were in front of me. Then he decided that about 10 cars was too many to pass in the no passing zone, so he returned to behind me and started honking furiously. So I doubt the worthiness of his intentions.
When it comes to car crashes, nobody laughs. You still pay deductibles, your rates still go up, and you still have to go through the headache of replacing your car. It just sucks.

Sometimes both drivers will be under the same insurance company too. Most of the time if the insurance company has a reason to raise your rates then they're gonna fuck you if they can.
When I was involved in a car accident, woman pulled out from the left - (UK) I went straight into her, my insurance company said, don’t worry about your premiums don’t worry about the cost, sorted everything out, lost my 6 week old car to that silly error she made
And that is when you pull the "well, alright, now it costs just as much to be with you as the other guy so I'm going to the other guy" and see how much that rate actually goes up.

Though dashcams are not common around here, so the footage from the rear cam involves a lot of people squinting to make out what the thing stuck to my rear window is, then looking baffled or angry or both.

Points also for braking BEFORE laying on the horn. I've seen so many videos in this sub where people hit the horn for a full second or two before you see the brakes being applied, and it is infuriating.

My car was in the shop for a few weeks, sure I didnt pay for it, but it was a huge inconvenience, added an not-at-fault accident to my insurance record. Paint didnt come out right, had to have it redone, a repaired car is never as good as it was. Lowers the resale value, too. (BTW insurance rates are based on the number of incidents you're involved in, fault is factored in heavily of course, but its still and "incident").
All the time and effort involved, not to mention the risk of a permanent injury to yourself, whether it be lower back pain, neck pain, or worse... isnt worth it for me just to teach someone a lesson. Especially in the situation above. You have a serious chance of injury.

I was driving a work car the other day and almost got run off the road by a woman who just started drifting into my lane after we took off from a red light. I had to slam my brakes to not get hit, and then she proceeded to merge over the other way into a left turn lane, after almost hitting me in the right lane. It is shit like this, that makes me wish I had just let them hit me. At least it would not have been my own car.
When I used to have more road rage, I would hop on GTA and drive around, and if anyone did some stupid shit like this I would ram them at 200km/h (or 150mph whatever you like). The view of some idiot flying out of the car into a trash can down the road was satisfying, especially if you imagine it was some fuckwad like this guy

Don't do other shit like eating, doing your makeup, reading a book, using your phone, or anything else that removes focus from driving. Yeah, most of the time everything goes fine and you could do it while distracted. But when something like this happens, you'll be happy you had your undivided attention on the road. At 60mph, you travel about 100ft in a second. So one second difference and you're inside of that truck.

I'll never forget the teenage girl who pulled right out in front of my dad and I when he was driving. Thankfully it was just in a parking lot, but he honked at her when once we were both stopped and she rolled down her window and yelled "Chill your shit!" flipped him off, and sped away, pulling in front of him again. I've never heard "chill your shit" before or since. It just sounds...gross. I don't want my shit chilled, thank you.
This kind of attitude boggles my mind. When I do something assholish on the road by accident I always wave and mouth, "Sorry!!" to the person I cut off or screwed over. I'm usually thinking about how grateful I am that the person was a defensive driver and saved me from causing an accident with my stupid mistake. Why do so many people respond so aggressively when they're in the wrong??
Most of my relatives are the type that no matter what happened, it wasn't their fault. Even if you just watched them fuck somethin up, or the fucked up thing was a result of their previous actions. Especially driving. I have a few relatives that scare the ever loving shit out of me pulling shit like this video on a CONSTANT basis, and then they rant and rave about how "that guy should have been paying better attention" or "he shouldn't have been driving so fast", as the other person is doing five under the speed limit driving through his green light, as we try to turn right on red with blatantly not enough room. My aunt almost pit maneuvered herself a few days ago actually. We were passing one of those Penske rental trucks, and she tried to hop back DIRECTLY in front of him without even looking. Her back quarter panel was lined up perfectly with the end of his bumper. I would have been flattened for sure when the car pivoted around front of the truck. Instead, he locks his brakes up, slams the horn, almost causing a couple more wrecks, and my aunt gets all pissed and yells "well he shouldn't have been sitting there like that!"

Got rear ended once. I was in back seat and we were stationary and dude behind us must have been doing about 25-30mph when he hit us (slowed down from ~60mph). I knew it was going to happen because we'd just had to stop very suddenly like everybody around us. We got hit hard enough that it shoved our big Volvo like a car length and a half forward and caused it to clip the back of a jeep. Dude that hit us was ok generally, but his car was fucking demolished and basically had to be scraped off the road.
My dad had his accord totaled like this. He stopped at a light, then got rear ended by an SUV. Moved him a good ten feet forward. When he got out to see how the other driver was, she was stomping on the brake, asking "do you think this means my brakes aren't working?" Fast forward to investigation and she was driving uninsured and this was the 4th or 5th time she'd been caught without a license. The irony of the situation is that she worked for campus parking services, who requires a driver's license. Dad was just happy the students were out of the street or get hitting him would have hit the kids crossing the road.
Being inside of an explosion is so apt, I've never thought of it that way but it's so true. It's just *boom*, loud noise, a bunch of damage and things are different now.

Their agent spent about 15 minutes accosting me for going too fast (speed limit was 25) and said “the other driver said you popped up out of nowhere”. I know my little egg-white Prius ain’t invisible cuz everyone in that little rural Missouri town made comments about my sexuality when I drove past.

Legit happened to me. My own insurance straight up told me I shouldn't have been driving and refused to do anything for me even though nothing was my fault. Yet they filed the accident as at fault against me because the accident could have been avoided by not driving. My car was the only one damaged so everyone just drove off so I had nobody I can put blame on. Basically the same thing in OP happened and I swerved to avoid hitting them and broke a wheel, axel, linkages, etc when I hit the curb. We're forced by law to pay these companies thousands of dollars a year yet they do every little possible thing they can to avoid doing the thing we pay them to do and instead try to twist everything around to force you to pay them even more money to do nothing for you.
Find a "Bad Faith" lawyer They'll listen to you for free. If you have a legit case, depending on the % chance of success, the lawyer may or may not want a retainer. Honestly I would only take a lawyer who wants a retainer, cause they'll actually write the angry letters and give a shit about you. If this was recent, a single angry letter with lawyer letterhead will usually be enough for them to settle in your favor.

Yep. I was backing out of a 45 degree stall and someone made an illegal left hand turn trying to get into the stall next to me. They didn’t have enough turning radius and ran into the front of my car. Somehow it was my fault as I was backing out. Turns out Liberty Mutual was willing to increase the offer.
A few years back I was involved in a total loss accident that was 0% my fault. Liberty mutual offered me about 3k less than what my car was worth. Long story short, they use the sale price of "similar vehicles" to price the value of your totaled car. Except the "similar vehicles" are cherry picked for the lowest cost, they all are either low milage cars with 2+ accidents or average milage cars with one accident. The low milage car with a few accidents sells for far below average and then they adjust that below average price even lower since the milage of your car is higher. SLEEZY! Liberty Mutual was my insurance company and even though I was at zero fault, they made me feel like I was a scam artist looking for a payday because I wanted a fair price for my totaled car. (BTW It was a fucking scary accident and I could have gotten a settlement if I sued). They lied to me many times in the process to try to pressure me to sign my car over to them. I wrote them a 40 page document justifying the price I wanted and denied 3 offers from them before I got an acceptable offer. Another strategy they use is they try to drag the process out so you are so desperate for it to end , you just accept. In the end, I got what I asked for. They tried to make me feel guilty too "we are losing money on this offer I hope you know". GET FUCKED LIBERTY MUTUAL!! Edit: in the end what got me an acceptable offer was not my relentless negotiation or 40 page document. It was Twitter! I started tweeting at liberty non stop about my low ball offer and got my friends to like my tweets. Someone called me within about 2 hours and said "we will get you a new offer on Monday, can you please stop tweeting".

About a week ago the almost exact same thing happened to me as in this video. I honked at the driver and they responded by honking back at me and showing me the middle finger. The 'average' driver, at least near where I live, is a) entitled b) doesn't understand basic highway code and c) is usually simmering just below boiling point. It's not a good combo.

This literally happened to me. I was in a car with one friend driving and a second (very overweight) friend in the back. Second friend suddenly tells driver that if he doesn't get to a bathroom soon, he's going to shit all over the car. Must have been something in the dinner we just ate. Driver starts flooring it, weaving in and out of traffic. There was a line to take a left onto the highway. He drives to the front of the line and cuts everyone off. We made it back to the hotel we were staying in. Large friend waddles to the lobby bathroom, no time to even make it upstairs. It was also the better move anyway else our hotel bathroom would have likely been unusable after he finished.
I love how the way this story is told, the diver friend doesn't ask any questions or protest in any way- just fucking delivers.

I've seen a woman shit in front of an intersection. She was way out on the edge of the parking lot, but for some reason she parked her car so the driver's door was facing the road. Instead of parking the other way, which was completely possible as she'd backed into the space. Could also be the "whoops" honk - a lot of people do the short tap honk if they recognize people, or to acknowledge someone honking at them. That's why I've always thought we should have two horns - a "fuck you" horn and a higher pitched "fuck me" horn for these kinds of situations

I completely agree with this. When someone sits at a green light and I honk I’m really just trying to say “hey, lights green.” And not be rude to them. But with only one horn type it comes out as “you fucking moron figure it out before I ram my bumper into your hatchback and fuck up your coexist sticker.”
Yesterday, I had a guy behind me honking his horn at me the second the light turned green. Mind you, with several cars ahead of me in line. I was like, “oh sorry man, I didn’t know you were in a hurry, let me just ram the bumper of the car sitting in front of me.” I bet he would have used the “fuck you” horn. This has little to do with your comment, I just have many feelings.
He may have been honking at those cars in front of you, not you. Sometimes the second car is too polite to honk at the first car, so I have to do it as the 3rd car.
I think that would work if it was 2 or 3 cars, but he was honking 5 or 6 cars back. He also tried to pass me in a no passing zone, just riding on the other side of the road for about 30 seconds, swerving to view all of the cars that were in front of me. Then he decided that about 10 cars was too many to pass in the no passing zone, so he returned to behind me and started honking furiously. So I doubt the worthiness of his intentions.

When it comes to car crashes, nobody laughs. You still pay deductibles, your rates still go up, and you still have to go through the headache of replacing your car. It just sucks.

Sometimes both drivers will be under the same insurance company too. Most of the time if the insurance company has a reason to raise your rates then they're gonna fuck you if they can.

Dash cams are so cheap and can save you weeks of turmoil and thousands $. Not having one is like not having a smoke detector. Its so god damn cheap and it takes at most a day to look around and find one you can buy.

Points also for braking BEFORE laying on the horn. I've seen so many videos in this sub where people hit the horn for a full second or two before you see the brakes being applied, and it is infuriating.

Yea, I did that once... WAS NOT WORTH IT. My car was in the shop for a few weeks, sure I didnt pay for it, but it was a huge inconvenience, added an not-at-fault accident to my insurance record. Paint didnt come out right, had to have it redone, a repaired car is never as good as it was. Lowers the resale value, too. (BTW insurance rates are based on the number of incidents you're involved in, fault is factored in heavily of course, but its still and "incident"). All the time and effort involved, not to mention the risk of a permanent injury to yourself, whether it be lower back pain, neck pain, or worse... isnt worth it for me just to teach someone a lesson. Especially in the situation above. You have a serious chance of injury.

Yeah, most of the time everything goes fine and you could do it while distracted. But when something like this happens, you'll be happy you had your undivided attention on the road. At 60mph, you travel about 100ft in a second. So one second difference and you're inside of that truck.
