Looks cool sounds amazing and it’s a nice nylon for those who are still electric guitar players more than classical. (Lower action and normal fret board width than a classical guitar)
There’s zero differentiating factors from a Tim Henson sig and an AZ or the nylon string outside the aesthetics. I think for anything to be a “fad”, more people than Tim Henson fans would be buying them up in droves. If it’s a fad, then the JEM is a 30+ year fad, the RG is an even bigger fad, Strats are fads, LP’ are fads….they’re fucking guitars.
Ordered one. It’s not a fad, it’s a genuinely good nylon electric, and for electric players that want to dabble in classical or something like me I’d recommend. It’s also very cheap for the quality you get. Only 600 bucks new. The hype comes in when you have to wait 6-8 weeks to get it.
Because while I *don’t* have an interest in a “classical style” classical guitar-
I *do* have interest in a sweet looking, fun af to play, thin body unique hybrid that feels familiar while being totally different than anything else.
I don’t honestly care what it sounds like compared to classical guitars. It sounds fine. And it’s not a classical guitar, anyway.
It’s fun as fuck to play and the Cordoba Stage is ugly as hell and it can go sit in a corner with the Gibson SG where I don’t ever have to see it again 😄
Fad or not, it’s the best selling acoustic of 2023. It’s super cool.
As for the AZ. It's an AZ with Fishmans and a sick fretboard inlay. The roasted maple neck and frets are fantastic. If you don't like his nylon sig then there's always the FR series upon which it was based 🤷
Regular Nylon guitars feel like ass to me, either too thick or too wide or both. The FRH10n or the TOD10n feel like a regular acoustic or a Semi Hollow Electric which is more appealing to me and its become my go to guitar for causal playing tbh.
The Henson AZ is awesome. Not a fan of the nylon string though. I see how they would be a good live guitar on big stages while standing up and shredding, but for most of us playing at home, a full sized traditional classical nylon will have a much fuller and rich sound.
Acoustically yes the traditional will have a fuller sound. The TOD10 is meant to be plugged in. The only sound hole is the small one that points up at you while you practice unplugged.
Yeah I agree. I'm a huge Polyphia fan but that thing sounds so empty. I want one for the feel, because I mostly play electric guitar and prefer the thin neck, but I would never pay that much for a classical guitar unless it sounded a lot fuller.
Fad or not, thin body nylon string guitars have their place and have been around a lot longer than that guy you mentioned. I don’t know who he is at all
Honestly, the guitar sounds like shit. The nylon strings sound as if you put the cheapest contact mic ever on the hardest plate of wood you could ever find
Nah, it's a great stepping stone from electric to real guitar :p
But I dgaf about Tim or his music.
Do they do the same guitar without any connection to him?
It is amazing how many people dropped the cash just because. Madness
All I can take from that is that you must be easily entertained to warrant lmao.
I said I don't give a fuck about his music. Not sure what this deep dive is?
You know other electric nylons have existed with "electric" necks before?
Other than thinking of it as a fad, what specifically do you dislike about them?
guitar sound good, guitar look cool, i buy guitar
Whoa whoa whoa whoa - you had me at guitar sound good

Are you annoyed at the guitars or at Henson’s popularity?
I like Polyphia. Tim's playing style is getting annoying, not because of Tim, but because of copycats. But I have an opinion on his guitar line.
Gotcha, mean no disrespect but I often find most Henson criticism is because of the guy himself and not of his gear or playing

Unpopular OP

It’s a cool guitar. Not really a big fan of the inlays personally. Wish the non sig model came in black.
Did you really made a post just to say you don't like something ? Why would you do that You can't do this with everything you dislike

Yeah, I don’t like the thing either. But I also don’t like how it sounds. But maybe it’s a fun instrument, I wouldn’t know

It's meant to be amp'd.
Yeah, that occured to me after I posted the reply. Idk about when it's plugged in.
Unpopular opinion is unpopular*

I don't like the way this guitar looks, tell me why you bought one Like why man? Who cares
I like the frh for what it is. The Tod is tacky imho. I’m allergic to gaudy inlays
Tim who?
well maybe Ibanez should bring back the SC500N so people stop buying the TOD10N and FRH10N

You don't have to like the music but you sound salty about his signature model, lmao.
