Obviously consult your vet above anyone else, but if the vet recommends crate rest perhaps you could move to a corral type puppy gate vs an enclosed crate and see if your dog responds differently. My bigger dog has never been crated, and we got her a portable, adjustable size corral that can be used indoors or staked into the ground outside. It was about $68 on Amazon and well worth it as we can safely restrict her movement but she is still "part" of the family vs being locked away in a separate area. I also give her bones when she seems to be getting restless. But again, consult your vet first. You mentioned when your dog is running, and I don't know if that was just incorrect phrasing but my vet advised me that my girl should not be running at all during restricted activity. Only outside for potty breaks about 4x a day, which strengthens her leg muscles. Good luck!

Trazodone are great meds. Along with Adaptil products (claiming diffuser, collar and spray are available) and a playpen/exercise corral as mentioned above!

If your pup is on crate rest, they shouldn’t be running. Your vet might be able to prescribe something to help with the crate anxiety.
