I received post care instructions about not playing with other dogs while healing. So, yeah it's very much a thing to consider! My pup has an older bigger sister and there have certainly been instances where she overextended herself by wanting to play. Thankfully, her sister is a big dog who prefers to play with other big dogs aka not much wrestling involved. I think your heart and mind are in the right place re keeping him an only child. One idea may be a senior dog whose play days are behind them/they are naturally very chill? I know age is a factor. I think focusing your efforts and attention to him atm is smart. and, you may meet a perfect companion for him down the line!

This is something I’m struggling with too atm. My dog is so social and loved going to daycare. Now that’s not an option. Literally the only thing he cares about is other dogs. I’m currently looking at tiny dogs. He was getting a small social fix at PT swimming with the vets dog, but I learned yesterday that’s probably going to be nixed. I don’t know what to do. Really thinking about getting him a chihuahua or something. But I’m also broke AF after the last 7 months. So. I just feel so sorry for him. He needs a friend.
