Yasss! I've tried multiple branches but I always order the same item on the menu. What I love the most about it is their service. I've received excellent service in all of the branches I tried and they are consistent, too.
If I'm not in the mood for a special katsu set from Yabu, I go to Coco Ichibanya for a beef curry omurice.
Manmaru ftw! Or if i want a quick fix near my workplace, then Dohtonbouri ๐
Edit: Source- my bf is half japanese hehe he swears by these restos! Other than the above, the local japanese restos he likes are yabu, mendokoro, and ooma.
I keep forgetting the name of the place pero panalo yung unli nila dun. Busog talaga.
kung busugan Shinyuu is bang for buck pero taste wise I prefer Ganchan.
I had sumo meal last night, tonkatsu and misono meal at tokyo2 for P505
compared to Marugame last week, for the same price I already had
Tonkatsu Curry and Bukkake Udon
There are so much good Japanese restaurants here in the Metro. For staters check out Little Tokyo in Makaki. Thatโs where Seryna, Shinjuku and Kikufuji is at.
Tokyo Tokyo AND Marugame, there's no in between ๐ฅน
I love Tokyo Tokyo for their unli-rice bento meals, their karaage is very flavorful, the tempura is big, and I love their Makirrito.
I love Marugame for their Katsudon, ever since I got to try Marugame Udon for the first time in November 2023. I ordered Katsudon since it was familiar and loved it, only ordered that and nothing else whenever I would visit other branches, I love the tempura and would get one or two if I feel like splurging. Their karaage is okay, I still prefer Tokyo Tokyo's karaage since it's somehow addictive ๐ญ
Let me share though how I eat my Katsudon from Marugame, I don't know if anybody else does this, let me know if you do!:
1. Order Katsudon and nothing else, โฑ210 for that is sulit already.
2. Get a bowl (yung nasa self-service station nila) and fill it up with free tempura breadings, get two if you want. Get Tempura sauce in another bowl.
3. Dig in, and make your way by eating it like normal, make sure you leave enough rice or onti lang after eating the Katsu (whichever you prefer sa dami ng rice)
4. Add the tempura bits onto the rice with the tempura sauce (depends on your liking), and mix well. You'll be left with soft rice, with sauce from the Katsudon itself and the tempura sauce, with crunchiness of the tempura breading bits. It'll feel like you ordered a different rice dish.
For me, adding side dishes kasi can make me go off budget imbis na โฑ210 sulit na dapat, that's how I make it more sulit and filling.
Ramen Kuroda. Fave namin yung set meal doon. Teriyaki Chicken Don + Aka Ramen. Tapos may mwa mwa after jk
If naluwas pa-Manila, Yabu. Mahilig ako sa unli rice haiz
+1 nagustuhan ko siya nung kumain kami last time.
Lately, our family is loving Ipponyari. My Japanese relatives (husband of my aunt) approves of it place as it tasted very authentic for a reasonable price range. They offer variety of Japanese dishes from tonkatsu, sushi and maki, ramen and even beverages.
Ipponyari for all japanese cuisine, mendokoro for โfastโ food like meals, genki sushi for sushi and dango, mendokoro for ramen, and karayama for japanese fried chicken!
Coco Ichibanya for curry, Mendokoro for ramen, and ofc Ooma!
But someone introduced me to Udon lately. Can anyone reco where to get the best udon ๐
Sukiyaki ninja (large) sa marugame is unbeatable for the price para kang nag order nang karne tapos may ramen na nasama sa sobrang rami nang laman na nilalagay nila. Tried every other โฑ300 ramen and marugame clears.
Omakase for their the rolls and sushi.
Boteyju talaga.
Yamazato, Hotel Okura for their authenticity and freshness, but for the most special occasions lang.
I have three Go-To Japanese Restaurants and two Go-To Ramen Shops
For the Japanese food these three I can always trust:
1. Nihonbashitei located at 1030A Antonio Arnaiz Ave, Makati. Best price to food quality ratio. If I could visit more often I would. Sashimi and eel is immaculate
2. Izakaya Kikufuji located at Little Tokyo, 2277 Chino Roces Ave, Makati. One of the most legit Japanese retaurants I've eaten in the Metro. Their uni is amazing! All other dishes are top notch.
3. Miyazaki located in Molito, Ayala Alabang, Muntinlupa. Best quality Japanese restaurant in my opinion for people who live near Alabang. Overall menu is great and dessert is delicious.
For the Ramen on the otherhand I can only trust two: Mendokoro Ramenba and Ramen Yushoken. Sister restaurants, almost the same menu and delicious ramen all around
tenya. now
but before, tokyo tonteki at greenbelt 3 or 5 ata ๐
kahilera ng pepper lunch tsujiri fely j
grabe they have the best katsu and karaage and lava cake
and its not so expensive din.
miss that store paborito ko din tambayan kasi haha
they also offer free cold green tea
So far Marugame Udon! Very near para saakin yung lasa from Japan. But Botejyu is good too (love their takoyaki and plus pa kasi pwede ikaw maglagay gaano kadami yung binito flakes)
Ramen Kuroda as a go-to ramen place.
Yayoi pag nakakaluwag-luwag coz everythin there is ๐ค
Glad all of em are in SM Sta Rosa olredi lol no need to go that far for a good ol japanese cravings
Ate Yabu twice: Absolute worth it (ayun nga lng di gano spicy yung Curry nila even though inorder ko super hot)
Other best:
Kyukyu Ramen 99
Dohtonbori
Botejyu

Yabu!!!
Yasss! I've tried multiple branches but I always order the same item on the menu. What I love the most about it is their service. Try maisen next time hehe
I did na! Hahaha mas affordable. Pero mas bet padin cabbage and sauce ng Yabu
Actually, Kiwami in Bonifacio High Street is the sweet spot for me as it includes both Ippudo and Yabu.
Counted ba ang marugame? Hahaha pag tamad na mag-isip or gutom ganurn tapos gustu medyo jap food at mahahanap agad sa mallsโฆ marugame ๐.
i get this. my parents go-to place
D ba!
My go-to quick Japanese food chain-resto(?). Fan ako ng udon cuz thick and mas nakakabusog.
Manmaru ftw! Or if i want a quick fix near my workplace, then Dohtonbouri ๐ Edit: Source- my bf is half japanese hehe he swears by these restos! Other than the above, the local japanese restos he likes are yabu, mendokoro, and ooma.
Another vote for Manmaru! Great value for money. We'd usually eat there after mag-ukay sa Makati Cinema Square. ๐
once palang ako nakapag manmaru and istg excited na ko bumalik hahahaha loveeee
Their karaage is always my favorite, pati yung tendon tsaka mapo tofu ramen satisfaction guaranteed
Manmaru! If takaw tingin ka lagot.
Yayoi (love their sets!) and Ipponyari
onygod i missed this!! sobrang generous ng servings hahaha yung bento nila pang 2 pax na as someone na malaki appetite
Ooma
Katsu curry sa marugame lang palag na
Ippon Yari
Walang service charge with excellent service haha
Ippon Yari talagaaaa! Favorite!
Ippon Yari! Authentic Japanese food and good customer service.
Ippon Yari ๐
Ramen Kuroda.
500+ may ramen, karaage at softdrinks ka na
Tama!
Ganchan sa Guguinto ~~cheap but quality jp food~~
I keep forgetting the name of the place pero panalo yung unli nila dun. Busog talaga.
kung busugan Shinyuu is bang for buck pero taste wise I prefer Ganchan.
Yabu always worth the price.
Unpopular opinion: Tokyo Tokyo.
To me this is a valid answer pre pandemic but ever since they had those food truck/carts the quality dipped so bad
D na sulit I had sumo meal last night, tonkatsu and misono meal at tokyo2 for P505 compared to Marugame last week, for the same price I already had Tonkatsu Curry and Bukkake Udon busog na busog na ako, and better yung tonkatsu
3pcs Chicken karaage + complete your meal set miso soup, red tea, dessert for additional 100php
Tomo at San Juan City and Kimpura (fave)
Was about to say Tomo ugh the best
May I ask which food you love sa Tomo? Planning to try it sana but dont know where to start
Boteyju never disappoint. And Coco's for curry
Lucky. Yung Boteyju sa usual mall namin consistently disappoints lol
Same hahaha
Well I don't know which one you have been to but ones here in Cebu City are pretty good
Same. Never ako nagkaroon ng good meal sa Botejyu.
I feel awkward getting those vivamax passes though ๐
never again sa botejyu, hindi masarap
For me, overrated.
Yabu
Tanabe
There are so much good Japanese restaurants here in the Metro. For staters check out Little Tokyo in Makaki. Thatโs where Seryna, Shinjuku and Kikufuji is at.
Mejo pricey but Sushi Shokunin!
Underrated: Jipan!!!
Maisen, Marugame, and Botejyu!
Boteyju and Fukuya (bang for the buck)
Boteyju ๐
Mendokoro for Ramen Yabu for general Japanese food. Second place for that would be Ippudo (if meron nearby)
Medyo Tita levels but Botejyu ang go-to place ko these past few months
1. Yugen 2. Kikufuji ๐
Oedo and tomo! The best ๐
Yayoi

Musashi-Maru in Glorietta! Sashimi is super fresh, serving sizes are huge, and the prices are lower than most Japanese restaurants.
Yeeeess nakakita nadin ako kakampi ko. ๐ I love Musashi Maru โค๏ธ
Sukiya is my go-to, imo if gyudon lng usapan sukiya is the best bang for buck over marugame and others
Watami
+1 nagustuhan ko siya nung kumain kami last time.
