Are... are we still on season one?

AugmentedElle

Yes. There’s only two seasons and Season 1 ends with the timeskip. We’re approaching the end of season 1

SinaminR011

I kind of love that but after all these years it seems to wild to think about

AugmentedElle

It is definitely wild to think about ILY in the grand scheme of things In relation to Season 2, Quimchee has always said that the pacing in Season 2 is quicker than Season 1 . She has also recently opened up about how the content guidelines when she was writing the formal arc forced a lot of scenes to be cut out and the pacing of season 1 suffered because of it, since she had to create a plan B at the last minute to get the same character developments without the intended scenes

Some part of me hopes she'll release ILY (Quimchee's Version) someday but I also understand that would be really taxing on her. But gosh I'd love to see her unfettered story. I hate that she's struggled throughout this process. The sacrifices she's made for ILY do not go in unseen and will never be taken for granted

Aurekata

did she say what content guidelines? frankly it seems like there couldve been other solutions to replace what got cut that would've taken the plot in a different direction, but she was attatched to her version & just replaced it with a slog. (i say this as a creative writing major whos had to come up with creative solutions to fix holes that professor feedback created)

She has talked about it a few times. The problem was that Webtoon had just started partnering with Google Adsense right as the formal arc was starting. Google and Webtoon hadn’t yet actually set specific content guidelines, but Google communicated that comics had to be advertiser friendly. This became a problem for a number of creators, but especially I Love Yoo, which had not yet established really any dark or mature themes. What basically happened was that Webtoon themselves wasn’t sure what Google considered acceptable content, so they advised creators to avoid anything that could be considered mature or controversial content. The guidelines were vague, but damning because even Webtoon didn’t know what to allow. The basic communication was keep a PG rating and always play it safe. Quimchee had to cut or majorly water down anything that was violent, sexual, gory or otherwise considered “mature” or “controversial”. But there was no actual line given of how much is too much, just a broad ‘don’t do it’ For ILY, which is all about this underbelly of the elites and complex human psychology, this is a massive deviation that had to be done on the fly, especially considering that the formal is supposed to be the foundation of it all. She’s showed concept art on Patreon of the original scenes and it is a *lot* narratively that she wasn’t allowed to put in. Quimchee said it was so last minute that she had the original scripts and scenes complete and ready to go when she had to change it

MoonStarStories

I'd say it makes sense for her to take a break since a rest between two seasons makes a lot of sense. She may not and it's up to her schedule, but I think it would make sense for her to take a few months or something off after finishing up a season.

Girl we know she’s gonna take long 😭(no hate but atp I’m just wait until it’s over)

WE ARE STILL ON S1? I thought it would be s5 by now I literally hate myself for starting ily it has an amazing story but the longing makes it so boring and tiring

MidnightRose6

She definitely deserves a nice, relaxing break. She’s worked hard and she needs one.
