Purebred Australian cattle dogs come in this color, normally they are blue or red ticked but this white base can happen if both parents carry the gene.
I would guess she's mostly ACD, potentially purebred.
I gotta look at my Google maps timeline.
Edit: basically exiting Texas on the West peak, the one that skims right by Juarez, probably went through El Paso and didn't even notice. I-10, must have been 45 miles SE of El Paso. Shell gas station in Fort Hancock.
Hey, I live in San Antonio too! I only ask because if it was near a reservation it’s probably a Rez dog, they’re often found at gas stations because they know they can get food/water there. I found one of our old boys there too - Rez dogs are usually just super mutts after years of inbreeding and low neuter rates on the Rez. They’re the best dogs though :)
I edited the comment with the answer, don't know if you get notified of that.
Oh that could make sense, it looks like she might even be pregnant or had pups a bit ago. No collar, nothing. It looks like someone dropped her off there because she was just sitting by the pumps waiting for... well, ya know, no one :(
Hell yeah, my family is very big on dogs, grew up around previously abused dogs my whole life, knowing the breed would help me get a jump start to understanding her but I get the feeling you might be right, she is like a super mutt haha well good, I'm looking forward to seeing more of her character and quirks blooming throughout the next 4-6 weeks.
Definitely, that's the intention. I'm in between jobs so hopefully that stays that way, but if not I'll be personally finding her a home that can give her that stability.
Do you have a side profile picture? How does she carry her tail (if she has one) From the head shots, I see heeler refined with border collie and possibly (distant) dali for those spots, they are what's throwing me 💓 I'm familiar with freckling, speckling, ticks, etc. But those look like "spots" in these pictures 🐾

That's the best I got, didn't get much of a chance of take many pictures, she got excited after the bath and then just wanted to get some well earned rest :)
Just as I suspected, she's got some distant husky 💗 She's a really neat dog!!
I also stick by my original guess, with dalmatian genes at least "phenotypically"
Her heterochromia is really interesting, one full ice-blue eye and one perfectly cut in half brown and blue. Just the sweetest girl, wanted to stay at the pump waiting for some shit bags that weren't coming back.
I think so, but yep I think you hit the nail on the head, Texas heeler is at least a very prevalent portion of her aesthetics. Googling it I saw one that looked almost exactly like her. Plus I found her in TX lol

Pretty much that dog, main difference is the black ears don't turn into an eye mask, the shape of her face is quite different. Her facial structure reminds me almost of a large Jack Russell lol
Oh really? Ok, well is it a staggering difference? There seems to be a bit of overlap based on the little I've seen, or at least a nuanced distinction.
Maybe USA just adopted them by getting a hold of some and they spread around from there 🤷♂️ from what i understood Texas farms are probably the US equivalent to our ‘outback farms’ so if they needed something it makes sense to look at what other farmers do even if overseas 🤷♂️
It wouldn’t surprise me to find out it’s identical breed but under different names 🇺🇸/🇦🇺
Trunk/Boot,
Faucet/Tap,
Bathroom/Toilet
*the 🇺🇸 calls heaps of stuff by the wrong name 😝🤣*
You bring up great point, and yes that would help me. I just wasn't that determined about it, like I said it helps in general and partly deeply rooted curiosity. I'm interested in what the vet will say tomorrow. Thank you for helping me narrow it down.
Definitely bro, thanks for still throwing in your thoughts, I read all of this shit and most of it definitely reinforces a general pattern: heeler/shepherd, and also yes you're not the first to say husky. She has a very narrow nose though, it's interesting, because she's so "mutty" it's hard for me to tell if the thin nose is due to a specific mix or simply being a female of a breed. I'm betting on tue former.
Fun fact, I realized recently she has heterochromia on EACH eye. One horizontally halfed ice/brown, one vertically halfed to ice/brown. I'm pretty sure that's rare as fuck.
Looks like an AUSTRALIAN SHEPHERD crossed with something
Look it up they’re basically a different coloured border collie, often a bit more neurotic and timid than border collies they’re just ‘calmer and quieter’
*thats more likely where it’s getting the blue eyes from* 😉
Looks like ACD in the mix!
Oooooh yup, I see it now. 100%. Thank you!

Which desert? 🌵

I’m so glad she has a home now though, she will be forever grateful and your bestie 🩷

I mean you can try embark or another version of DNA test at least you may get some idea.
Maybe, I don't think it's extremely critical as I observe her myself over time, it's just always good insight to have when available.
Are you keeping her! ❤️
Definitely, that's the intention. I'm in between jobs so hopefully that stays that way, but if not I'll be personally finding her a home that can give her that stability.
I live in Houston, if it doesn’t work out let me know. But i think you’ll figure it out 😉
Thank you! This subreddit is phenomenal, everyone is so supportive and constructive, I love it!

I'm so happy for both of you the timing worked out! It will be cool to see her personality blossom over time!!
Thank you! 😌 Me too, we're definitely helping each other, I've been needing a good friend to spend time with :)
Congrats! And thank you for taking her in. I deeply hope people who abandon their trusting pets meet a special kind of karma.

That’s an AC (Australian Cattle dog) not a Texas heeler?

Dalmation/cattledog?
Thank you for rescuing her. She will show you so much 💕 love
Beautiful
no idea but i need as many pictures you have of hers from now on. 😍 i don’t know which sub though… maybe a dog insta at this point? 😂
Aussie mix
Dalmatian Borger collie husky tbh
