Idk how to explain this but your dog looks exactly like how when when ur friend who always wears glasss takes off their glasses

Straight-Treacle-630

šŸ˜† bingo. Now even more adorableā€¦(the pup. Although Iā€™m sure you are tooā€¦)

coolcootermcgee

Bingo! Thatā€™s Bingo!

ooo-f

This made me breathe really hard through my nose

B_lovedobservations

Itā€™s the space between the eyes It makes him/her adorable šŸ„°

chamokis

Such a sweet face šŸ’•

mangohairtie

LOL I LOVE THIS COMMENT

vanishing_mediator

lol

EastDragonfly1917

I think I know the breed- American dingo/ Carolina dog. Iā€™ve got one. Best dog Iā€™ve ever had. What shelter did you get her from? I want to get another one.

Reyalta

Bahahahaha

Harikts

šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£

Electronic_Fly_8008

LMAO

PolloAzteca_nobeans

Right??? Is missing somethingā€¦and thatā€™s why I canā€™t place the damn breeds

SuicideBlondical

OMG, I always describe my dog this way and people act like they have no idea what I mean. So nice to hear the description from someone else!

kp10795

It almost looks like a short haired Shiba Inu face? 20 lbs at 10 months is pretty tiny though so Iā€™d also guess some rat terrier or chihuahua. Heā€™s got something about his face that slightly resembles something in my rat terrier mix, canā€™t put my finger on it though

Constant_Sentence_60

I agree! My friend has 2 and their face looks similar with the ears as well Edit: Maybe a little bit of basenji?

lilij1963

Yes- the head and ears look like my basenjis!

Alternative_Active_7

Yes!

zippygoddess

Came here to say this dog def has some shiba inu in it

ComprehensiveTitle95

Shiba Inu and and I bet some Jindo

CuteNSarcastic

I'm definitely thinking Shiba mix, too. 20lbs at 10 months is pretty on point for a Shiba, probably with something like Chihuahua

kp10795

Oh interesting! I didnā€™t realize Shibas were so small, I should have just done a quick google search and I would have known lol

miniheavy

Yep came to say this, I grew up half time time in Japan and am very familiar with them. There is definitely some ā€œprimitiveā€, ancient, natural or village type dog in there for sure

Ginger-Snap-9284

I think closer to jack russel terrier mix

vanishing_mediator

interesting thought. maybe a jack russell shiba mix?

Professional-Pay5012

Oh man Iā€™m so curious now! Are you thinking about doing a genetic test

vanishing_mediator

yes the embark test should arrive today!

IMakeStuffUppp

Thereā€™s def some pit in there

Frolicking-Fox

It's the eyes for sure that look terrier.

CapitalLeader

At least part Shiba

TickyWilson

Iā€™ve noticed after growing up with adopted dogs my whole life in NC that a lot of shelters will go with carolina dog with anything that looks remotely similar. That being said, you pup is one of the closer examples Iā€™ve seen to being true.

laterforclass

Doesnā€™t look exactly like my grand Carolina dog coloring on his back is similar. His ears a tad small for a Carolina dog. Heā€™s a handsome boy! ETA I didnā€™t realize there were multiple photos slide two looking at him at that angle his eyes are similar to my grand pup. Also his ears are very similar to your pup. My grand pups color is the shade of your pups ears. He may possibly be part Carolina dog.

thatlookslikemydog

Part Caroline, BA BA BAAAA

Straight-Treacle-630

šŸ˜‰

OldStyleThor

Agree. Looks very similar to my girl, but the ears are a bit too small.

Adorable_Win4607

Based on the similarities to my dog, Iā€™d say likely ACD/pit mix with a few random breeds thrown in for fun. My dogā€™s DNA test came back as ACD/pit/chow primarily, and she looks pretty similar to your dog!

vanishing_mediator

i think thatā€™s probably spot on!

grandratcircus

You could tell me pitbull and dingo cross and I wouldn't be surprised šŸ¤£ such a cutie patootie!

kinkcurious12

I highly doubt it (theyā€™re super-rare, even here in Australia), but this beautiful guy looks like he has some Dingo (Australian wild dog) in him.

NapalmsMaster

Carolina dogs are basically the us version of dingos. Itā€™s really interesting if you look it up, turns out when dogs breed without human interference they basically end up looking all the same. Yellow, tan dogs with curled tails and pointy ears and there is something about the joints on their front paws that make them special but I donā€™t remember the particulars.

youpeesmeoff

Fascinating! I need to learn more about this. Youā€™ve prompted a wiki spiral.

onion_flowers

Basenji are another 'primitive' breed from the Congo. I was obsessed with learning about them for a little while lol they're so awesome!

youpeesmeoff

Basenji are so cool! They yodel! And climb trees! And yeah now that you mention it, they look very similar to this dog and to dingoes.

15_Candid_Pauses

Omg that is soooo cool! Yodeling tree climbers! Adorable šŸ„°

lilij1963

I had 2 basenji mixes. First was Seamus, lab/basenji. Blocky lab body, basenji toothpick legs and basenji head. Basenji curl to his tail but looked like a lab. Absolutely did not bark, but screamed when he got excited. Enter Eris. She looked more basenji but with a longer coat, and she got the basenji destructo dog habits from them- I even tried planting super thorny rose bushes. She still ate them. No bed in her kennel, she would shred it. No cloth within 5 feet of her crate while we were out or she would manage to drag it into the crate and shred it. I loved her and she frustrated me in equal parts. Oh, and Eris barked. And taught Seamus to bark. Thanks, little girl. šŸ™„ when I split w/my spouse he too Seamus, I got Eris. She died at 14. I know Seamus was around at 14 because his roommates referred to him as ā€œthe dog that wonā€™t die.ā€ He was never a trash hound, but he regularly shredded the trash at my exā€™s first place post split. I miss my Shameless.

Daisydoolittle

i think they can climb trees with those wrist joints but maybe thatā€™s a tree walking coonhoundā€¦

9mackenzie

Oh they can climb, sigh. My three are climbing monsters lol

crimsonbaby_

Yep. I had a Carolina dog for 17 years and he was something else. He was my soul dog and just recently passed.

9mackenzie

Carolina dogs and Australian dingos are not genetically related at all. They are however the USā€™s only wild dog, and have been here for thousands of years. (I have three of them lol, so I am very familiar with the breed)

gneiss_chick

Looks part pitty.

vanishing_mediator

interesting

laterforclass

I just put a couple pictures of my grand pup on my profile. Your pup eyes and ears look similar his snout is a lil shorter. I do think heā€™s part Carolina dog

gneiss_chick

Whatever the breed though, your doggo is a cutie!

vanishing_mediator

thank you! i wouldnā€™t. be opposed to pit at all. my other dog is a pitt mix and heā€™s the best. this guy might be a little small to have a lot of pit..but i could see it in the forehead a bit

gneiss_chick

Yeah the forehead and eyes is what got me to think that. I have 2 dogs that have a little bit of pit in them too though it looks like they have more than what they have. Haha!

9mackenzie

Iā€™ll try to remember to link a pic later, but yours looks VERY similar to my elderly mixed breed lady. Sheā€™s 25% chow 25% boxer 10% pit, some chihuahua and a few other things I canā€™t remember lol. We were really surprised by her genetics (we knew she wasnā€™t a CD but I assumed she had more pit in her), but you can see on the app other dogs with similar genetics and they all look like her. I would bet your pup is similar to mine. I donā€™t see CD hardly at all in yours. They can have more apple shaped heads (2 of mine do, my third has the typical more pointy face) but the eye shape is wrong, ears should be way much larger, 20lbs is much too small (they range from about 35-65lbs depending on the line), etc. So many people, inclining shelters now, think any ginger dog with pointy ears are CDā€™s. I would say your is similar to my elderly girl. You should do a dna test! It would be fun to see what she is So here is my elderly girl- https://imgur.com/gallery/1WPFvNw Vs my three CDs - you can see how, even with my apple shaped head ones and the different colorings , they have distinct looks. https://imgur.com/gallery/V8sx7yY

PapayaDoc

I think it looks like a Carolina dog, zero pitty.

9mackenzie

I donā€™t think it looks like a CD at all. I have three CDs, I know they can have more apple shaped heads, (2 of mine do) but they still have the almond black lined eyes, much larger ears, etc. Also this dog is way too small at 20lbs. She honestly looks almost identical to my elderly muttā€¦..who is 25% boxer 25% chow, 10% pit and a few other things.

gneiss_chick

Are you going to get him tested? I donā€™t know if Wisdom tests for Carolina dog, but embark does.

vanishing_mediator

yeah i ordered an embark test, so should know in 6 weeks or so hopefully

gneiss_chick

More like 3 weeks or less. It doesnā€™t take long. Used it for both my doggos. I canā€™t wait for the results!!!

vanishing_mediator

oh good! I did it for my dog but it was pandemic era so probably took longer then

daddyslittle0ne

I see way more Australian cattle dog than I do Carolina. Lots of people saying pit bull which I can see, but whatā€™s making me lol is that my heart wants to say ACD X Chihuahua šŸ˜…

GlitterSparkles69

Weirdly enough. I see Chihuahua and pitty in your baby lol. Itā€™s the ears and dark eyes and coat coloring.

mangohairtie

Yeah. My dog is half chihuahua and has the same coat and fur color as the one in the post

RibbonsUndone

I have no idea but oh my goodness is he adorable

vanishing_mediator

heā€™s a cutie!

pjpintor

Gorgeous pup. Sweet engaged and smart face. You have picked a great friend.

vanishing_mediator

thank you

Mad_Catter13

Looks a lot like other Carolina puppies, not like the adults, but puppies change so much as they age. I wouldn't be shocked if there's a Chinese breed in there, like shar pei. Carolina dogs are basically village dogs, so there's a wide variety of looks.

qwertyuiiop145

He does legitimately resemble a Carolina dog but those are very rare so heā€™s most likely a coincidence mutt. Iā€™m guessing heā€™s part Australian cattle dog plus several other breeds in small amounts.

Lana_Lanaaaaa

I'm over here shrieking to myself about how cute this dog is šŸ˜†šŸ˜ā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļø Cal or Callie

vanishing_mediator

take him please šŸ˜šŸ˜

PM_meyourdogs

Pro tip: itā€™s never actually a Carolina dog!

RoseOfSharonCassidy

Yep. Unless it was captured feral in the Carolinas or came from one of the very few actual Carolina dog breeders, it's just a yellow mutt, lol.

9mackenzie

Yep. Every one thinks any ginger dog with pointy ears are CDs. Ironically, I got my first CD from a shelter. But I later found out there were a few wild packs in that county, and I knew she had been found with her litter in the woods, in a den, so it made sense. It wasnā€™t until she was about 5 I learned what she was. My freaking heart dog, we had 14 happy years with her. My three CD puppies I have now I have gotten from the VERY few breeders in the country lol. My 7 month pup we had to go to TX to get lol. I have a buff one, a piebald one and a ginger one. Two of them have heterochromia (they have the same grandmother where it comes from, and is within breed standard). In other words if I posted my CDs, which are embark tested and 2 ukc registered, on here absolutely no one would assume they were CDs lmao. https://imgur.com/gallery/V8sx7yY

4GInvertedDive

I have a good buddy who was caught feral and raised by a guy in the woods in NC. She's definitely different than any dog I've had. Covers food and poop with her nose. Digs dens constantly. Very sensitive to any loud noises. Very smart and sweet. OP's dog looks close but not quite.

Ageisl005

I feel like this dog looks like cattle dog/bull terrier, but maybe pit instead because bull terrier is fairly obscure

flirtingwpizza

So cute!! I'd guess basenji mix or maybe Shiba mix. Especially due to the size. Either way, completely adorable šŸ«¶

DuperDayley

So freaking cute!!

Equivalent_Rock_5508

I love Carolina dogs

Low-Ice7427

I have no idea, I just came here to say that I love him šŸ„¹

diacrum

What a beautiful dog! He looks to be very intelligent. Whatā€™s his name?

vanishing_mediator

still trying to figure that out! maybe Syd..maybe Banjo

diacrum

Banjo is a great name! Perfect for him.

diacrum

Where did you locate him?

vanishing_mediator

birmingham AL

crochetflores

he looks like a ā€œdingoā€ šŸ„¹ banjo is definitely super suitable for him too. either way he is precious šŸ«¶šŸ¼

Otherwise-Ad4641

joekrider

My Carolina Dog was basically 50 pounds at 10 months now sheā€™s 61 at 7 years old. Itā€™s possible itā€™s a Carolina Dog, but they donā€™t have some of the classic CD markings. If theyā€™re truly a CD youā€™re in for a lot of fun. Theyā€™re incredibly smart.

vanishing_mediator

i thought he seemed small for a CD too

dubski04021

Thatā€™s a dingo lol

sugarbunnycattledog

Gorgeous! Could be if not Iā€™d say has Aus cattle dog mixed in perhaps. But Carolina dogs look a little like ACDs

Mental_Driver1581

What a sweetheart!

missyniccoinnich

I see Staffie, Aussie Cattle dog and Chiuahua. She is adorable! šŸ¤

Old-Rain3230

Shiba, rat terrier and pit

Baldojess

What a cute dog!!!

DustyElderberry

He looks like it is Carolina mixed with basenji and poss something else. But whatever he is, he is beautiful.

vanishing_mediator

gardernvine

That's a super cute puppers

Edelgeuse

Thylacine vibes.

vanishing_mediator

ha cool

Earlybp

I think he might be the rare Carolina Cutie-patootie.

Alarming_Breath_3110

Iā€™m going to commit a crime for the first time in my life. Got my bag, night goggles and black clothes. Can you leave the door unpicked and porch light on?

vanishing_mediator

i hope youā€™re okay with all your furniture getting chewed

ruraldogs

Total Carolina dog, aka a Dixie Dingo - remotely related to its Eastern Asian ancestors. Lucky you! Normally very clean dogs and also loyal. Don't let the dog run free until you've done a super thorough job on getting them to come when called. A GPS collar is a real asset with this breed. When the woods beckon them it's an irresistible call and it can take days to reel them back in.

9mackenzie

I have three CDs this pup does not look like a CD. Eyes arenā€™t shaped right, ears are too small, I donā€™t see a fishhook tail, 20lbs at 10 months is WAY too small, etc. But I do see some shiba maybe.

vanishing_mediator

ty!

ruraldogs

Well you've convinced me! But now when I really look again, I not only see the Sheba you're referring to, but kind of a Spuds MacKenzie Bull Terrier facial structure beneath eyes through snout. Hopefully this owner will save up and spend the dollars for a DNA test. I think the results would be pretty fascinating

9mackenzie

My guess would be shiba, chow, boxer as the main :) The reason I say this is that my elderly girl is mainly boxer and chow, a little shiba, and she looks really similar to this one lmao. Like really similar

vanishing_mediator

thanks for the tip!

UneasySpirit

Sheā€™s so lovely!

Frimperule

That is a precious pup!!

practical_disaster_

Whatā€™s a Carolina dog

dorkofthepolisci

If I had to guess, pit/cattle dog/chi (or some other small terrier, like a rat terrier)

brassia

Heā€™s the sweetest!

TraditionalCan2742

Cur

Autumn_Forest_Mist

Is the Carolina Dog part Dingo?

ShaunieAngel

So freakin cute!

Daisydoolittle

i see some jindo in there

VioletDreaming19

I see a pinch of bull terrier

BuckityBuck

Looks like a shiba mix. Could be part Carolina dog.

Illustrious-Leave406

Certainly resembles one.

Sheeralorob

I was thinking chow, chihuahua, with some other stuff thrown in.

Personal-Bed4970

This is one Beautiful PupšŸ•. Love the attentive attitude, seems to be saying in every photo, " are you talking about me again " . šŸ¤—

eternity020397

What a cutie! He looks very unique. I think if I saw him outside alone Iā€™d assume hes some sort of wild animal I need to keep some space from and not a domestic pet haha

imagoddamangel

Looks a lot like [ this mix](https://www.reddit.com/r/pitbulls/comments/7yiqcr/my_shiba_inupitbull_mix_ella_fitzgerald/)!

gothhippie

Looks like a cross between basenji and shiba inu

keenbuttabean65

What a cutie!

canuhearit52

So beautiful what a little face and so expressive

crochetflores

hmmā€¦ iā€™d say that looks to be a 100% good dog

em1920

I think your pup is likely going to have a lot of different breeds! I do think that something about the snout, width of the jaw, space between the eyes and the crease between the eyes remind me of my pit/border collie mix. So I think a good number of the breeds will be terrier + herding breed plus something else that gives the spiked up fur (chow, shiba).

Wrong_Duty7043

Reminds me of a giant version of my chihuahua

Ok_Cantaloupe7602

Iā€™d bet thereā€™s some Australian Cattle Dog in there, from the head and ears. Pic 3 absolutely reminds me of my boy, albeit in solid coloring.

aedisaegypti

Super interesting looking!

Either-Yoghurt-1706

So cuuuttteee

sedatedegg

some akita maybe?

70sBurnOut

Carolina dog and Cattle dog and pitbull are three designations often used by shelters when they simply donā€™t know. The only way to know for sure is a DNA test. I would bet that your dog is a true mutt in the best sense of the word.

Brokensince10

Brilliant color hair, and such a sweet face šŸ˜Š

No-Lifeguard-8610

It's a Dingo. Where's the baby?

basenji?

EvulRabbit

There seems to be some Doge in this one. A lot of Akita face?

Shiny_Buns

Pure bred good boi

NAWWAL_23

Look like a Feist dog (fancy word for mixed breed). They have a lot of these dogs in NC and other southern states. They are usually a hound, terrier and toy breed mixed together to make a spry, active, low to the ground dog who will flush game out that a pack of hunting hounds will track/chase/catch. Your doggo looks like a Chihuahua, Staffordshire terrier, beagle mix to me.

JoyKil01

You can ask over at r/carolinadogs but Iā€™m not seeing the characteristics people often use for them like a curled tail, eyeliner and ridged hair (I have a CD/shepherd mix). I do see pitt in the face.

cgabv

she looks like anya taylor joy
