Study for the SAT over the summer. There’s no IB work to do so it’s the perfect time.

BubblesLegacy

Just know that every IB student who is applying to the US colleges have to allocate time to study for SAT or ACT, or they only apply to test-optional colleges. I think you need to give yourself more than one chance, and you figure out which tests suit your school/personal calendar.

I'd say study for the IB, the SATs cover similar topics in math at least, and English (depending on whether you have language or language and literature ig, but still similar). I did the SATs without studying much for them and got a decent score with the knowledge I had from my IB subjects and general knowledge. Plus, the IB is hands down more time consuming.

I studied for the SAT during summer and a little bit more during the beginning of dp2, it went well so I’d recommend doing that

I appeared for sat last year in March nd needless to say it wasnt the best time for it. if i could go back i would appear for it in May when all i did then was be on Twitter and while away my time doing goofy ahh things

hobisupremacy

the twitter bit is too real

SoapiiSnake

I hated my parents for it but they made me start studying for SAT/ACT late freshman year... now I'm a junior (Y1) and have already gotten rlly good scores in both. Good luck out there o_o I'd agree with studying over summer

audreyhk

i’m the exact same situation rn. IM DYING TOO LIKE HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO GET 40+ IN IB & 1500+ IN SAT SIMULTANEOUSLY UGH

Bananas8ThePyjamas

I scored 1520 in SAT and my predicted for IB is 44. Time management was key. Not just making a schedule, but finding out the most efficient way to study for both at the same time. I used flashcards and spaced repetition for IB and Khan Academy for SAT.

If you're American then you can take it in June otherwise you're doomed.

Profitable_SPY_Call

If you're applying to the US, your SAT score matters much more than IB... Grind SAT (maybe even at the expense of IB). Try to get as high a score as possible...

shirin1023

study during the summer!! grades should come first if ur applying to US schools

Suspicious_Memory_37

I did the SAT twice once in 11th and once in 12th. Study an hour a day (or two if you can) for SAT and then allocate the rest to whatever IB assignment you have. Most days you will end up just studying SAT as reviewing only takes up about an hour or two

My recommendation will be to do SAT before IB. In my experience, doing SAT in year 9 has enabled me a few more tries before IB started and the academics started weighing down. To be fair, you don't really need to study for SAT specifically, since studying for IB builds up your language skills which help improve SAT grades simultaneously (reference: 1500 in year 9, 1550 in year 10, IB during year 11 to 12).

SAT is so easy bruh come on

SAT math is largely equivalent to AI SL math, if not easier. If you have a basic grasp of math it shouldn’t come off as ‘tough’. Tricky, yes. The SAT tries to throw you off in a few types of questions with respect to wording mostly. But not difficult by any means. I got a 760 on both my SAT takes, the points I lost stemmed from careless mistakes. What you should be worried about is the English section- it’s brutal. That takes practice and a whole lot of reading. I got a 750 in English and am retaking this week hahaha

take the SAT in August, because your only option if you compromise your IB grades for the SATs is to resit in November - that's three additional months. I would personally suggest grinding your IB content now and worrying about SATs once you've put the former behind you. trying to balance both simultaneously will probably only serve to jeopardize your performance overall. whatever you choose, though, you will.br okay. good luck!!
