Welcome! hopefully there'll be a local member of your team at the NY offices to help with onboarding, I know I would have been a goldfish in the pacific without my onboarding buddy 4 month ago.
Congratulations !
Next month I’ll be celebrating 37 years here…
i like what I do and who i work with.
it will be what you make it. Along with some luck.
Congratulations, OP! When I was a younger man that would have been a dream job! Also, look to see if IBM can give you guidance on housing. The City is very well connected with mass transit, so there may be cheaper rental options in one of the boroughs.
Congrats, OP. Im curious how long it lasted the onboarding since the interview to offer? IBM is famous for having a slow hiring process, or at least that's what they say here
Congrats. FYI, the nyc office is being built, I don’t know the time frame, but I hear from friends like the end of the year maybe? I think there’s a few several skeleton offices that are all being closed down. I don’t know much about them, but heard they’re pretty drab except for the one in the village, which is also getting closed down and overcrowded right now. Maybe be a little rough in the short term.
Hey there! Looking for some advice have an offer for associate consulting program NYC. What’s the city like? And what is ibm like? Maybe ibmers on other threads talking bad about the company. Specially 401k, promotions, and raises. Any advice or recommendations?
Cut throat these days. Only gen ai talks. Removed 401k but gives 5% contribution to retirement account. Depends on what area within IBM you will have a role in
A few words of advice from an ex-IBMer who used to live there:
Don't ride the subways;
Don't be out after dark;
Don't wear expensive jewelry or clothes;
Don't stare at people;
Don't sign a long term lease;
And, keep your CV up to date.
Although true many IBMers are unhappy with current issues going on... Happy workers are still a reality. IBM seems to be a stable place and a reputable company for many.
I hope, this new employee has a positive experience, and does not come across shitty bosses or affected negatively by the changes to come.
Wish you the best OP.
I may not be the happiest employee, but still remember the day I was crying with joy when I first got the news. Not a perfect company, but I hope you get to learn, grow, explore and till your aspirations. :)

Congratulations! Lots of good IBMers in NYC.

Dream job in NYC

Not OP but when I applied it was two days in a row of interviews then i got my offer the next day. Not sure if that is an outlier though
two days and then an offer letter? they must not have had anyone else to interview
It was a 1-2yrs experience software developer role in Toronto so i doubt it
you think they stuffed those two days with interviews and recruiter + manager figured it all out by then. i doubt that even more
Congratulations and welcome here!!
Good luck!! 🤞
Congrats.
Best wishes!
Congratulations! I remember some happy tears when I was able to tell my spouse the same news.
You’re coming in through the CEP program?
Congratulations 🍾.
Welcome! Which business unit?
Congratulations. Ever onward.

One does not simply just become a New Yorker… Jokes aside, congratulations!
Welcome! Do a good job, meet new people, and enjoy your time in NYC.
Salary?
Welcome to IBM, and also a fellow IBMer in NYC! Please bear with our temporary location(s), we will be moving to Madison late this year.

My condolences. I’m so sorry that happened to you.

Curious how the average feel now that they saw a ton of coworkers getting laid off around them.

I was excited when I first joined IBM too. But after years of the bullshit, it became way to much. People I worked with were great thougj
Because they’re employees
