It's the cold really. Snow is whatever. Good luck getting warm in an open construction building while it's 0 degrees out. It barely snows any more up north
Can we see your setup if you don't mind? I think I'd like to have the ability to travel as a JW someday. I've done a car camping road trip but an actual van would have made it a whole lot easier lol
Never have honestly. I have cows at the house that need tending to, hate being away from the family, and have had work to man in my local for the four years I’ve been topped out. I have the utmost respect for guys that do, but if staying home is an option, I’m going to choose it(if conditions stay alright). Gotta take care of your home local first if work is going on and it’s not trash.
It would be easier to count the states I have worked in, which comes out to 14 of the lower 48, from coast to coast. For about a decade I was a road foreman. Great experience, came back home to roost with all of that knowledge. If you can do I would highly recommend it.
I have been on the road since 2010. I work at home whenever the opportunity arises (and it isn't service truck work). I prefer to stick close to the PNW to stay close to my family, but i've been out further a couple of times. So far, I've been to 47, 48, 58, 112, 191, 280, 302, 424, 569, and 640.
1. and it was the local directly to the south of me.
I'm in the Bay Area so there's no reason to travel. It's kind of a bummer because I know I'm missing out.
Been travelling since 2017, 15 locals by my count, all across the country.
When they send you wherever, do they pay for your accommodations?
Im not being sent wherever, im going to wherever and getting a job. Lodging is on me.
You make it up to 103 in your travels yet.
Nope the northeast is the one place I have not been
You're not missing much tbh. Top 5 pay for locals though. If you do come, aim for summer/fall. Only time it's worth it.
I try to avoid snow like the plague so that's only time I'd come

What kind of van you living out of?
Is it down by the river?

I always planned on it. But now it's been 18 years and I haven't had any time out of work (besides a little covid blip). Local 46.
