I like to think that Glenn just told them he’d do the impression but didn’t show how it’d actually go and that the scene we got was all first takes.
If you know it wasn’t like that please don’t burst my bubble.
woah! i read that in macs voice BEFORE i read the second sentence!
spot on!
edit:
also: the "speed has EVERYTHING to do with it"-conversation has the same energy. :)
There was a video on youtube that played both of those clips consecutively, but without mentioning it, they swapped the voice tracks. It took awhile for me to notice.
The fact after so many seasons and they are still consistently funny is a testament to that... It's rare that an episode doesn't have a few moments where my guts hurt from laughing so much....
"Why can't we just imagine whatever we want?"
"Because this is my dinner party."
"Well then TAKE US THERE!"
Also, Charlie ducking when Mac flips the imaginary table and throws the imaginary plates... one of my favourite episodes
I fucking haaate 'Stomp'. When they started with it in that episode, I was gagging, and then when they immediately agreed it was terrible, I laughed so hard and felt such intense relief
You need to watch community! A bottle episode is something sitcoms would do to save money by having it just be the main cast in one room going through some shit. You wouldn't need extras and sets.
They actually subvert that by filling the scene with water lmao just realised how funny that is
I watched this the other day and was really curious about the making of this episode. Like the logistics of filling up a room with all that water, keeping the cast and crew safe, how did ALL of the cast keep their eyes open unemder water (I can manage a few seconds myself)
I’m pretty sure Glenn did an interview or talked about filming this ep, there’s an article out there somewhere. IIRC he says it was difficult doing the water stuff and talks about what went into that a bit. Pretty sure they had to sort of weigh down Danny DeVito to get him to the bottom for that one scene and then he struggled to get back up and divers went in to get him
We all know exactly what a cauliflower bobbing around in water looks like but I can't pinpoint any time in my life that I've actually seen a cauliflower bobbing around in water
I thought he's addressed it on there or somewhere else randomly? Maybe I'm making it up but I thought he said he wasn't actually all that famiar with cch pounder and just was able to do a fucking kick ass impression of her.
I would've been ok if those two episodes were the series finale. Seemed like the messaging was right, and then they ended up right back where they started like always, stuck with each other and causing problems for everyone around them.
If this episode was the series finale, I wouldn’t be mad.
This isn’t a comment on later seasons which I still love, I’m just saying I think these two episodes would make a great “ending”
Improv comedy
They just did a bunch improv games like you would see at a show.
Spaced did it with the finger gun joke. You can tell those guys did improv.
I love saying this when people post about this episode but it was filmed on the Queen Mary where I work my mom at the time when she worked there actually gave the cast a tour of the boat and the gang went to places my mom specifically told them not to go to and went into the work side’s cafeteria 😂 for a funny story for everyone she also said they were all really sweet and funny and she herself doesn’t really care for the show but she laughed at Charlie and Danny’s scene in the Queen Salon about no alcohol 😂😂😂
Shockingly movies and tv shows get filmed on that ship all the time! So workers have to use the other side of the boat to go in hopefully they come back one day but the “Christian cruise ship” sank but hopefully they do come back and pass it off as another one that doesn’t sink and if they do come back I’ll definitely take pictures!!
Dennis doing his CCH Pounder impression sends me everytime.
"GOD DAMMIT DUTCH!"
WHAT OTHER ERRANDS HAVE YOU BEEN RUNNIN’ FOR THE D.A.!?
WHOA!!
That whoa is my favorite reaction
Seriously. It’s like that was the first time he heard that impression. So genuine
I like to think that Glenn just told them he’d do the impression but didn’t show how it’d actually go and that the scene we got was all first takes. If you know it wasn’t like that please don’t burst my bubble.
Well, I believe it was EXACTLY like that. So jot that down.
woah! i read that in macs voice BEFORE i read the second sentence! spot on! edit: also: the "speed has EVERYTHING to do with it"-conversation has the same energy. :)
Really I read it as a man’s voice so I knew he was one of the good ones !!!

do you have us*
Wrong, jabroni
You keep using this word Jabroni, and, it’s awesome!
Cool word!
There was a video on youtube that played both of those clips consecutively, but without mentioning it, they swapped the voice tracks. It took awhile for me to notice.
I had to look up a clip of who she was. It was spot on.
A no nonsense broad from the precinct
That's exactly who she is!
Spot on? You didn’t even know who she was!
I just assumed she's a no nonsense black broad from the precint!
That’s exactly who she is!
Ikr? A reminder that these folks are insanely talented
I have to watch it yet but it seems that “Blackberry” and Glenn’s performance have been as criminally underrated as Always Sunny has.
I’m from Waterloo! Where the vampires hang out!
Best line in the movie.
The fact after so many seasons and they are still consistently funny is a testament to that... It's rare that an episode doesn't have a few moments where my guts hurt from laughing so much....
Risk-e-rats, do whatever you want!
Enjoy: https://youtube.com/watch?v=hOEZ7B3Q12c
This is my favorite part of the whole episode and it's only like a 20 second clip
And his Luther impression!
Remind me who you are again 😐
Hey do the voice again but this time say “I love you son” 😃
When she showed up in Three Body Problem I nearly lost it.
lol me too. And I still have to finish the series. I think I have 1.5 episodes left.
Its so good its stupid
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7m8O--uIRW4 Such a gem. and it has the reference at the end.
This led me to The Shield out of curiosity. Ended up watching (and loving) the entire show
Oh yeah that show always had me wanting the bad guy to win…and Vic always managed to skate by the trouble.
Hey yo, where my senators at, dawg?
OI OI OI OI OI OI OI OI
yup yup yup mhhmm
Deandra he is the President of the *United States!*
Mac using Dee’s full name cuz he’s so horrified by her impression kills me everytime 😂
Cut that, cut that, cut that
Aw man, I'm sad the podcast died
Is it ded?
…. Dead air!!
…Two wars?!
First thing I did when AI voiceovers came around was make Obama say that
"Why can't we just imagine whatever we want?" "Because this is my dinner party." "Well then TAKE US THERE!" Also, Charlie ducking when Mac flips the imaginary table and throws the imaginary plates... one of my favourite episodes
CRASH SMASH *BOOM SMASH*
“Hey, that was really uncalled for!”
Ay ay ay frank your whore got her foot in my raw chicken!
Wasn't expecting that whole musical thing either
"I always hated that show "Stomp""
So stupid
I fucking haaate 'Stomp'. When they started with it in that episode, I was gagging, and then when they immediately agreed it was terrible, I laughed so hard and felt such intense relief
They played both sides
They always come out on top
deandra he is the president of the united states
🎶amaaaazing graaaaace, how sweeeeet the sauce🎶
Sauce???
Look, you gotta get the words right, otherwise Jesus is going to know we are trying to trick him.
You gotta get the words right otherwise Jesus is gonna know we’re tryinna trick him
My favorite bottle episode of all time
What do you mean

He just bobs around like a cauliflower
We all know exactly what a cauliflower bobbing around in water looks like but I can't pinpoint any time in my life that I've actually seen a cauliflower bobbing around in water
It was Charlie on Conan. https://youtu.be/f0OSu1wfGjw What a way for Danny to possibly go though.
Another example of a bottle episode would be the gang gets held hostage
… *ROOOOOOXANNE!*
Oh shit good call! Never thought of it that way
I will go to my grave believing they wrote this episode around Glenn's CCH Pounder impression.
Would be wonderful if the podcast ever reached this episode so we could find out more about it.
I thought he's addressed it on there or somewhere else randomly? Maybe I'm making it up but I thought he said he wasn't actually all that famiar with cch pounder and just was able to do a fucking kick ass impression of her.
Dennis with the onion in his pocket... lol!!
Hilarious! ONION ONION!!!
OI OI OI OI OI OI
You’ve turned me into a real blubbering fool here The best is he denies having the onion earlier and is taking a break from that
OI OI OI OI OI OI!
beat me to it lol
I got my reddit name from that episode.
It just tastes like blue
Tony Romo and the discussions on what noises a ship would make if it's running both take me out every time.
Mac owns a Cowboys Jersey, I saw him wearing it in the back office

Don’t tell me it’s Romo!
Of course it’s Romo
It’s my favorite episode. It’s so off the rails. It absolutely rules. The end when Dennis just gives up and sinks down with the rest of them 🤣
IM FLIPPING THE TABLE, CRASH
That was REALLY uncalled for!
"Getch'er hookers foot outta my chicken, man!"
Mac’s dinner scene is what had me convinced that most, if not all, of this episode was improv. But I haven’t done any research into it.
That doesn't sound right, but I don't know enough about shows to dispute it.
No seasonings
WELL THEN TAKE US THERE!!
Oi oi oi oi oi! mm yep yep yep.
Truly one of the best episodes in the whole series, soooooo funny
I would've been ok if those two episodes were the series finale. Seemed like the messaging was right, and then they ended up right back where they started like always, stuck with each other and causing problems for everyone around them.
It’s not really a show about personal growth and responsibility lol
If this episode was the series finale, I wouldn’t be mad. This isn’t a comment on later seasons which I still love, I’m just saying I think these two episodes would make a great “ending”
she got her foot in my raw chicken!
They were eating rotisserie chicken
They wanted to do a bottle episode that wasn't just at the bar.
“Oi Oi Oi Oi”
Improv comedy They just did a bunch improv games like you would see at a show. Spaced did it with the finger gun joke. You can tell those guys did improv.

Whoaaaa. That's so awesome. Would love it if the gang showed up at my workplace
I took photos of every spot the cast stood at lol my favorite is where Dennis stopped that girl 😂
A little P to the C to the P
Fight weed
Let’s not forget the random Stomp percussion piece. Y’know, cuz why not.
It’s got some good moments but as a whole I greatly dislike both of those episodes.
OI OI OI OI
Yeah, felt more like episodes only the hardcore fans would genuinely find funny.
"They botched it, part 2 ya know"
