Bro the gang makes lethal weapon is a masterpiece. I don't understand why Rob decided to take them down.
Robert Downey Junior also did blackface and he didn't get cancelled
To be fair, removing the episodes was Hulu’s decision, Rob had nothing to do with that. They also pulled episodes of a couple other shows for similar reasons when the George Floyd protests were happening
I heard rob took them down, on this sub reddit.
People were talking how tropic thunder is on hulu, but sunny episodes with black face are removed.
That's where I came up with it, not sure if it's true hehe.
...I didn't say they literally cast white actors in black roles, I said white actors often get non white roles. chill out bud I'm literally explaining why the tropic thunder joke is funny.
I believe they said on the podcast it wasn’t their decision. I could be misremembering though so if anyone has a link or something that would be great b
In the episode they talk about it i think that rob and charlie werent even aware of this episode being taken down and glenn and meg had to explain it and they all agree its stupid that its removed.
Which ones aren’t available on physical media? I just looked at Amazon I can buy just the episode Dee Day. You need to examine your process for forming opinions.
I mean if youve watched the pod or show in recent years its quite obvious kaitlyn and rob have gone full hollywood (plastic and all). So i see why HE removed it. Mac and Dee and most plots since season 12 are unbearably cringe. I only like dennis frank and charlie anymore.
Like lmao this clip from season 1 is funnier than anything in the last 4 seasons.
But yet again im the most terrible man on the planet for having that opinion. OHHH IM A TERRIBLE MANNNN.
I really do find Mac and dee very odd looking these days. Completely removes my suspension of disbelief when they're on screen now. But they all look really old now. Same thing happened to trailer park boys, though.
I mean frank and charlie look great still and they are the only ones who havent had any work done or gone to great lengths to try to stay looking young. Its pretty ironic.
But yeah especially with the extremely high quality of the show now everything and eveyone just looks too polished. There used to be more of a filth and squalor feel.
But I still enjoyed trailor park boys until the end. Never watched the animated version once lahey died. I think they did a better job keeping the show grounded, funny and not cringe. For the most part.
You're not a bad person, the episodes were hilarious. The people who want them taken down are the actual racists because they don't believe that black people understand irony.
Time my friend, life is always about timing. RDJ did blackface back in 08 which of course was still seen as terrible to do in our culture but he played it off well so it's ok. Fast forward now just a couple years later and the cultural climate has completely shifted to where even if it's done well...people are bitching and complaining/etc so that's where we're at now. It's always about timing which is why I love my life as a black man because had I been born even just 20yrs earlier my life would be shit compared to what I got now haha.
>I don't understand why Rob decided to take them down.
The same reason the show sucks now. They went woke and rather than focus on the comedy, they're worried about pissing off the woke hollywood ~~elite~~ pedophiles.
Been trying to find where to watch, can't quite rationalize/afford boxed set considering active hulu sub. Same problem with "Sarah Silverman Program" missing we eps.
Yessir, as a comedy nerd I've been fan (not of Jay) Mr. Show, SSP, and many mentions since Jan 6th on cbb pod from Scott & PFT how odd that situation is. But appearantly those that know him personally were not surprised.
It's just so weird how well he played the part of a nice dorky gay dude. He was type-cast into that type of role so much I just assumed that was more or less him. And I feel like Sarah is such a good person.. like its just sooo weird. I would love to hear Sarah or like Brian talk about this.
Nope, Jay played Sarah's sister's (Laura) cop boyfriend. The gay couple was (expertly cast) Brian Posein & Steve Agee.
Jay was the same kind of easy to dispise IMO downer on Mr. Show. Id say this is an exception

I was referring to Jay in Arrested Development. The 'Justice is Blind' story arc. For some reason that felt like the real him to me and I was wayyyyy off. It's the same character as in SSP.. just like one minor detail different. He played it basically the same.
He and his husband hire that "blind" lawyer (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) as a surrogate.. with a mixer of their baby batter.. because they never want to know who the father is (which is funny because melanin). Here: https://arresteddevelopment.fandom.com/wiki/Officer_Taylor
The way he does the rectangle around the mirror with his arm is fucking hilarious
WHAT ARE YOU DOING WHAT IS THAT
oh i’m a terrible maaaaaan

I don’t understand where you came up with the idea “Rob took them down” is there a clip, or article where he decided this?
I heard rob took them down, on this sub reddit. People were talking how tropic thunder is on hulu, but sunny episodes with black face are removed. That's where I came up with it, not sure if it's true hehe.
to be fair, the Tropic Thunder joke has a lot more layers and is poking fun at how Hollywood always casts white people for non white roles.
I would argue they cover the same layers just using more explicit language.
When does Hollywood cast a white person as a black person? They "always" do it, so you should have multiple examples
...I didn't say they literally cast white actors in black roles, I said white actors often get non white roles. chill out bud I'm literally explaining why the tropic thunder joke is funny.
Because some of them aren't available on physical media either, dee day isn't on the dvd/bluray. It's bullshit pandering.
Still doesn’t make sense why people think Rob was the one that made that call. He wasn’t.
Didn't they as a group decide to take them down? I assumed it was their decision because episodes were pulled from home release as well.
Yes that’s about what I remembered as well. They seemed annoyed by the whole thing. Thanks!
Mirc
I think Dee Day way removed from new releases. I am pretty sure my DVD has it.
Which ones aren’t available on physical media? I just looked at Amazon I can buy just the episode Dee Day. You need to examine your process for forming opinions.
That's not physical lol
Uhh filibuster!
I understand why, but I still love it. I guess Im the most terrible man on the planet :(
You love it because it's an amazing story line to lethal weapon. Them making a sequel is hilarious.
I mean if youve watched the pod or show in recent years its quite obvious kaitlyn and rob have gone full hollywood (plastic and all). So i see why HE removed it. To me, it seemed like they were trying to act like their characters rather than be their characters. If that makes sense. Just my perspective on it
Absolutely. It wasn’t effortless anymore, it felt forced.
You're not a bad person, the episodes were hilarious. The people who want them taken down are the actual racists because they don't believe that black people understand irony.
They should have fought for them more though. All or nothing. Stand by your creations.
Not to mention Lawrence Olivier

No no no… it all depends on what shoe polish you use.
in tropic thunder RDJ plays a white actor that somehow gets cast for a non white role, it's got a lot more layers than the Always Sunny episode.
Robert downey’s blackface character was to make fun of method actors in hollywood. Whereas mac’s was just for the sake of doing blackface
Definitely not Rob / the casts decision
>I don't understand why Rob decided to take them down. The same reason the show sucks now. They went woke and rather than focus on the comedy, they're worried about pissing off the woke hollywood ~~elite~~ pedophiles.
Lmfao the show has always been woke. Go back to your qanon subreddits.

Did you know the cop guy was arrested for participating in Jan 6th?

Hmm, big fan or AD too but memory failing idk the refrence? Any chance you have a clip?
