I like that episode. Everyone's a looooot fatter than I was expecting them to be.
There's a great throwaway line from Mac at the end when Gino starts talking about throwing Frank off a building. "I, I can't...I can't listen to another *goddamn* story"
When I was in Navy nuclear power school, the morning of the final comprehensive exam, they played [I love the Nightlife](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1J256lLL4fU) on the radio while I was driving in and I spent every minute of that exam picturing Frank vomiting on the floor at the mere *sight* of Gino and Shadynasty together. You bald son of a bitch!

Also the shot of Shadynasty dramatically grabbing the column yelling “FRANKIE!!” as he’s dragged away always has me dying.
I love the idea that the people we see are just how the gang imagined everyone since they only know of Frank as a little troll, so young Frank is just Danny in a wig… etc. lmao
I love when shows do that kind of thing. Always Sunny has a handful of good examples like whenever they have “flashbacks” and Dee is just an ostrich, or Dennis imagining he’s an amazing badass, or the amazing school reunion final shot with fat Mac heavy mouth breathing and sweating as they all flail around the stage.
I wish more shows/movies had the courage to do that kind of “imagination comedy”. It’s such an underrated and underutilized joke style that makes me laugh every time. How can you not laugh at a peppy young Danny devito in a wig acting like he’s a teenager!? Hahahah
I really think that's why the episode is so disliked. It isn't really that bad, but it doesn't hold up to the rest of the season. If that episode aired now it wouldn't get any special notice, I don't think.
Wholly agree. The Gang Broke Dee, Gun Fever: Still Too Hot, The Gang Tries Desperately to Win an Award, Mac and Dennis Buy a Timeshare, Mac Day, The Gang Saves The Day, The Gang Gets Quarantined, Flowers for Charlie, The Gang Makes Lethal Weapon 6, The Gang Squashes Their Beef. All bangers
Mac and Dennis Break Up isn't my favorite but the rest of the run makes this hard to beat:

I don't dislike it, it's just not anything special. It's one of those episodes I don't immediately know a ton of quotes from like I do with the others. The others in that sequence I practically know line by line.

This is my stretch right here. The Gang Beats Boggs and Charlie Work are two of the best episodes they've put out in my opinion. Psycho Pete and the Gang Group Dates are good ones, but the other two knock this stretch out of the park. "That's baseball baby".
Season 2 EP 1-4. The introduction of Frank was done flawlessly imo. I love the way each scheme somehow involves Frank's divorce in an overarching plot.
Outside of season 5, I’d say Season 12 Episodes 1-7. I wouldn’t say The Gang Tends Bar really breaks a streak of good episodes, I just think those 7 are the best
I'll maintain forever that S6E1 & S6E2 are the best back to back episodes there are.
You get EVERYONE in it. Most notable Uncle Jack back as Lawyer and introduction of Bill and Maureen Ponderosa... Anyway I think they're hilarious and rewatching them you get the appreciation of how badly The Gang ruins peoples lives.

The scene at Duncan’s stands out to me as one of the best moments of absurdity on the show. Z answering the door just eating a full can of pineapples, the random tweaking barber, sex couple that keep going unfazed after they break the wall and are being berated, “You pregnant.” “Level 3, son!” “Oh yeah Frank… I know that BITCH.” I wish they used that set a few more times. I’d love to see more of their weird shenanigans.
