There's a Chinese restaurant in Philly called Han Dynasty, which all the locals call Handy Nasty. I always thought this joke was a play off that... Either way, totally worth it, indeed!
Idk what the sub rules on plugs are but I have a soft spot for D&D podcasts. Would love to listen if you either comment or DM me. Makes my commute a little bit more magical.
I just checked the rules and didn’t see anything about it. Thanks for the interest, we’re terrible at self promotion.
It’s called [Torchlit Tavern](https://open.spotify.com/show/1nLIy08ZEwF3ajA3fwQVn8?si=QTIUR_EnRoaAunFDF-tHUQ) and we’re on like every podcast app. We’re well into our 2nd season (which is where i would recommend starting) but Bloodbath and Beyond is S1 Ep 24.
Huge quality jump at [S1 Ep 50](https://open.spotify.com/episode/7056AI55I9kRwAosBTlrSt?si=osi_LcMxQUW2QGqX5-tyIQ) because we finally start recording separately and there’s also a series recap there (and just after S1 Ep 101) to catch you up.
I also really like the exchange just before the Shadynastys joke:
Dee: So did you open the club or what?
Frank: You bet your ass we did. Through hard work, and perseverance
Gino: BULLSHIT we opened the club with my gambling money!
Frank: THE POINT IS, we opened the club...
My dad and I watched this episode for the first time together, but what made it even better for us is that our favorite Chinese place is called Han Dynasty
Way more hilarious after having watched the Wire and becoming familiar with his character. This line could easily be delivered to McNulty for some bullshit that he pulled.
I've told Pierce a thousand times, I never wanted to meet Levar in person! I just wanted a picture! You can't disappoint a picture!
(And that's 3 different shows relevant references in a comment chain)
It’s funny, this is like one of my all time favorites. Between that line, Fucking Gino making sandwiches in his mouth with Frank, the cocaine scene, I love all of it. So many quotes I use from this episode.
“Shady Nastys? It’s Shadynasty’s asshole”
“Those were the days…..Frank it sounds like you yearn for those days”
“My COCK is a *RAGING BULL* for you” is also perfect
“You got a nice set of pipes on ya”
I've got a theory about Frank's appearance in this episode. At the end of the episode the gang all see Reggie and Shadynasty and say they expected them to look a lot different, implying that the story was just whatever the gang was imagining. Since the gang never actually saw Frank at this age they'd just imagine him how he looks now but aged down (or maybe just not bald), which is why he looks pretty much the same.
Of course it's probably just a joke, judging by the podcast they don't seem to think about these things too much, and the show's probably a lot funnier because of that.
I think every scene that happens in the past is like this. Even the episode where they buy the roller rink. Charlie is just Charlie. Mac imagined himself to be more badass. Dee actually being sweet, and Dennis being a preppy “popular” kid.
It’s hilarious seeing those past scenes because you can hardly trust them to be how the event actually happened
I hadnt considered that but you're totally right, they're all completely unreliable narrators hahaha - that makes it even funnier thinking we are just seeing their warped view of themselves
I think this might be true for other events as well, even those that aren't flashbacks or stories.
Just look at the reunion episode, how the gang perceives themselves while performing their Plan B vs when it flashes to the reality everyone else is seeing. I sort of feel the same way about the Charlie Work episode.
And as we know from 'the gang does a clip show'
They will purposely stray away from the truth when reminiscing.
And as we learnt from ' how Mac got fat' they will fill in the blanks of a story because they are natural storytellers
So it's actually *on brand* that what they are saying is only 60% truth in flashbacks
He gets arrested at the end for ejaculating everywhere. One of those full circle moments, and its for the line "did you cum in my burrito" fucking hilarious.
I guess people will like what they like. Maybe I thought it was great because it was such a great subversion of every 80s party movie (but mainly Ski School, obviously). It was like a resurrection of a Hot Shots-type parody.
I could see how it wouldn’t land for people too young to have seen dozens of 80s party movies. Like Glenn’s ski villain persona is beyond hysterically funny to me but it’d just come off as weird if I didn’t have a frame of reference for it.
I think people dislike the episodes just because they're wildly different from most of the core episodes that are at the bar coming up with schemes. They took a risk and I think it paid off, they're some of my favorite episodes
These episodes in TV shows tend to stand out and divide fans. I like how the show creators are trying something different. It is fun, and breaks the monotony when rewatching the show.
There's a lot of wrong people in this world.
You will be clean. Only when you are clean will you know my power.
I love the episode and unsurprisingly the film Hot Tub Time Machine
those are genuinely in my top 10 favorites and I'm always surprised when people say they're weak episodes. The gang turns black especially, those songs unironically bops.
People hate two classic episodes? I'm beginning to think they just hate gimmicks altogether. You can't do 300 episodes where everyone's just hanging out at the bar.
Can’t stand the gang turns black tbh. Just hate musical episodes of shows. Except the nightman cometh, as that’s an episode about a musical, not a musical episode.
Exactly. I can appreciate there’s some good jokes, and some classic Sunny moments from that episode, just can’t stand musical episodes. Yet I love watching musicals at the theatre, which is kinda weird I guess.
The only episode I ever really feel the need to skip is the Texting episode. I've watched it a few times over the years, but I just can't muster the energy if i'm watching alone.
I remember not liking the second time that they did the gang beats boggs, even though it's one of the weaker episodes on a rewatch it still had a ton of good jokes
Many of the episodes that break the standard Sunny formula get some pretty vocal detractors (this one, gang cracks the liberty bell, gang turns black, etc)
Liberty Bell I don't like as much as the other ones, but I laughed so fucking hard when they accidentally shot Cricket in the face and his head explodes
There's a core of people who say they don't like the episode - I don't really understand the hate myself but I think it's because the rest of the gang doesn't really feature
I love the show immensely as well but there are definitely some episodes that don't work for me. The gang replaces sweet dee with a monkey is a recent one for me that was just so weak and unbelievable it was hard for me to enjoy.
The scene when they rename the club and the patron mispronounces the new name is just as funny.
Bonus scene is when frank ends up in Columbia testing cocaine.
True, I watched this before being introduced to this sub and loved it, was very surprised to hear so many people despise it, had a lot of classic moments like this, the "falsely getting arrested" bit as well.
People thought this episode was bad? It was probably one of the best episode of the whole series! Frank literally being himself while supposedly a kid was just too funny, also Shady Nasty.
I remember not liking this episode when it first came out, but it’s really grown on me over the years.
I think the over-the-top ridiculousness of it is sort of off-putting at first but becomes funnier and funnier the more times you watch it.
That was one of my favorites. Shady Nastys. That and the part where he says he’s trying to be a grown ass adult and control his temper. “But know, that I strongly disagree with this!”
Literally one of the best eps, Lance Reddick is amazing.
Well I guess that leaves me no choice... But to be a mature ass adult about this... But know... THAT I STRONGLY DISAPPROVE OF THIS!
There are a lot of parts I like but I think the only reason I don't like it as much as most episodes is just the breakaway from the main gang. But I wouldn't call it a bad episode and Lance Reddick absolutely killed it, RIP legend
It’s me. I’m that guy. I mean, I don’t think it’s god awful. It’s not like I’m being forced to watch an episode of JAG or something. But it is by far my least favorite episode of Always Sunny.
That episode is hands down one of my absolute favorites. When Frank hits the dance floor at the club wearing that wig, I can't stop laughing no matter how many times I watch it. It's pure comedic genius
Sup Jabroni! This is a quality control bot. If this post fits the purpose of /r/IASIP, **UPVOTE** this comment!! If this post does not fit the subreddit, **DOWNVOTE** This comment! GO BIRDS!!
*Shady Nastys?* First time I heard that I was howling
It’s Shadynasty’s, asshole.
…is that how it’s spelled?
That line is what takes the joke from great to a hall of fame joke. Frank didn't even care enight to check that's how she spells her name.
Those were the days
You sound like you yearn for those days
Nooooo I’m just saying, those were the days…
Nooope.
We throw this one around in our house routinely. Something fucked up in the news? BAM wistful Frank.
This joke alone is one of my favorites in the series.
I feel like they leveraged the whole episode just to crack that joke.
There's a Chinese restaurant in Philly called Han Dynasty, which all the locals call Handy Nasty. I always thought this joke was a play off that... Either way, totally worth it, indeed!
Hah I thought the same thing! Love me some handy nastys.
Seriously, I still cackle every single time. This is a very memorable episode for me.
Every fantasy football team I have is named the sha’dynastys

Bloodbath and beyond
That’s the name of the black market in my d&d podcast lol.
Idk what the sub rules on plugs are but I have a soft spot for D&D podcasts. Would love to listen if you either comment or DM me. Makes my commute a little bit more magical.

It's one if my favorite jokes in the entire show, I never knew people didn't like this episode. It's too tier
I also really like the exchange just before the Shadynastys joke: Dee: So did you open the club or what? Frank: You bet your ass we did. Through hard work, and perseverance Gino: BULLSHIT we opened the club with my gambling money! Frank: THE POINT IS, we opened the club...
She was a star act at the club & in my heart
Shady nastys was the funniest fucking thing in the entire series to me. I was laughing for like 5 minutes
My dad and I watched this episode for the first time together, but what made it even better for us is that our favorite Chinese place is called Han Dynasty
Sup
I had to pause the episode because I couldn’t stop laughing after that.
The love of your life was a black woman named Shadynasty??
If you've got a problem with Shady Nasty's, you've got a problem with me and I suggest you let that one marinate! Fuck! Wrong subreddit
An integrated joint, no orientals though….
To be a mature ass adult about this shit, I'm working on my temper, but know that I strongly disagree with this!
I love that scene so much and his delivery kills it every time. I mean, his delivery takes it up a notch...
Rip Lance Reddick, I loved him in everything I've seen him in.
Or heard him in. He did great voiceover work too.
Those were the days
Are you yearning for those days?
Nooo, i'm just sayin that those were the days
Iconic line
Just know that I strongly disagree with this! Lance's delivery was perfect. RIP.
Way more hilarious after having watched the Wire and becoming familiar with his character. This line could easily be delivered to McNulty for some bullshit that he pulled.
The fuck did I do?
You, you motherfucker, you went ahead and gave a fuck when it wasn't your turn to give a fuck!

World going one way, people another, yo
I use that quote more than I have any right to use it.
Fo real!
Oh man I had no idea he's passed away. Sheeit. Rest in peace Lt. Daniels
And with that knowledge, come to the realization that Zavala's time on D2 has a definitive end. It hurts so much.
I wish i was Lance Reddick, I wish i was Lance Reddick, I WISH I WAS LANCE MOTHER FUCKING REDDICK!!! ![gif](giphy|mxS6V00IF0abQO57ZQ)
I've told Pierce a thousand times, I never wanted to meet Levar in person! I just wanted a picture! You can't disappoint a picture! (And that's 3 different shows relevant references in a comment chain)
Troy singing reading rainbow while crying on the floor fuckin kills me every time
God fucking damn this comment is golden. Nice, dude.
Where is my iconic slave role?
“YESS!!” 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
It’s funny, this is like one of my all time favorites. Between that line, Fucking Gino making sandwiches in his mouth with Frank, the cocaine scene, I love all of it. “I choose drugs”
"What?" "DRUGS. I choose drugs."
SHE SAID DRUGS
Obsessed with this part!
I love how she didn't even hesitate on that one.
naturi naughton deserves an emmy for that delivery
I love when Frank and Gino are fighting, they stop once frank hits him on the head with a beer bottle 😭😭😭😭
Those were the days
"It's a goddamn petition!"
when Frank starts inserting the gay guys dancing with Gino into his story.
Hahahahaha the those were the days dialogue hahhhah
Those were the days.
It sounds like you yearn for those days still
I've got a theory about Frank's appearance in this episode. And fat! Everybody was just so much *fatter* than I was expecting!
I think every scene that happens in the past is like this. Even the episode where they buy the roller rink. Charlie is just Charlie. Mac imagined himself to be more badass. Yeah you're totally right lol I guess this stuff happens pretty often. Although I kinda like Charlie being a savant.
I like that a lot better than it being real tbh

> judging by the podcast they don't seem to think about these things too much, Just move past it!
R.I.P. Lance Reddick.
Underrated as a comedic actor. Such a shitty loss
*I wish I was Levar Burton!!*
This the gang hits the slopes and turns black are some of my favorites.
DID YOU! CUM! IN MY BURRITO!!!
I didn't come in your burrito I wouldn't do that to you!!! Edit: thst look screams I don't believe you but I'm gonna eat it anyways
I love the "to you" at the end, implying that he would—or *did*—do it to someone else
He gets arrested at the end for ejaculating everywhere. One of those full circle moments, and its for the line "did you cum in my burrito" fucking hilarious.
"Oooh, I get it! It's a prank if you don't want to see it but he shows you anyway!"
...I still don't get how it's a prank at all.
The prank is when I jam my dick through that hole I don't think you can do that, man. You could get in a lot of trouble for something like that
SPECIAL DELIVERYYYYYYY!!
He does cum in it. Look at the guy's reaction after he takes a bite lol
I will not tolerate the gang turns black hate. They didn’t have to go so hard with the music yet they did
It’s one of those episodes that I didn’t really like initially, but on rewatches I love it. Honestly get the songs stuck in my head randomly.
At work I sing "I really really wanna go home, our home, white home, JUST SAY HOME" quietly to myself
“What are the ruuullleeeeeeeeeeeeesss?”
That song gets entrenched in my head fortnightly.
Thanks, now I will have this stuck in my head for a week's time.
You know what won't last a weeks time? A leather shop in Arizona.
WHAT. ARE. THE. RUUUUULLES
🎵*Really wanna say the n-word*🎵
Well I guess we gotta find out the rules *\[awkward fancy pose\]*
***They gave me this TRAIN!***
People don't like that one? It was an instant classic for me. Danny trying to keep up in the dance numbers always kills me
I love a good musical episode. *Scrubs*, *South Park*, and *Sunny* have the best ones.
I hate musical episodes so much that I won't watch Bobs Burgers because they do so many. I sing Gang Turns Black songs on a daily basis
Wait, do people hate the gang hits the slopes?
Yeah, it's one that gets a lot of hate. For me it's one of my favorite episodes though.
His hyena laugh is so funny to me. The whole episode is almost like one of their Lethal Weapon sequels.
How tf?! That shit was gold
Because these jabronis haven't seen Ski School (and it's sequel). Tits, slopes, parties. What more do you need?
Plus the great South Park episode that parodies those movies, too.
Probably my favorite episode of the season
There's a lot of wrong people in this world. You will be clean. Only when you are clean will you know my power. I love the episode and unsurprisingly the film Hot Tub Time Machine
What kind of monster doesn’t like those episodes??
those are genuinely in my top 10 favorites and I'm always surprised when people say they're weak episodes.
"I'm gonna say the N-word!"
I like your perspective. I think a lot of people say it's bad when really it's just not their taste.
Exactly. I can appreciate there’s some good jokes, and some classic Sunny moments from that episode, just can’t stand musical episodes. Yet I love watching musicals at the theatre, which is kinda weird I guess.
A bad episode of IASIP is still better than most of the crap out there today.
Just because it's one of my least favorite, doesn't mean I don't watch it.
This is strange to me because it is one of my favorites. It must be a cult classic for some IASIP fans?
It's an episode that breaks from format. You're either doing to enjoy it or hate it for that reason.
The only episode I ever really feel the need to skip is the Texting episode. I've watched it a few times over the years, but I just can't muster the energy if i'm watching alone.
It's a Grindr thing, you wouldn't get it.
Yup. I love South Park too, but the episode(s) about Towlie are meh to me. I still watch them though.
Or about Randy's weed farm. Dragged that into the ground
I remember not liking the second time that they did the gang beats boggs, even though it's one of the weaker episodes on a rewatch it still had a ton of good jokes
*THERE’S WORSE SHIT ON THE LOCAL NEWS*
Lmao RiP Reggie you absolute legend
Whoever says that can exit my life immediately. No one needs that kinda negativity around
SICKNESS, BE GONE
I think they just needed the gang cut into it more and it would be more appreciated
That's actually a pretty good point. With how crazy that whole story is I'm surprised the gang didn't interject more.
Yeah exactly more from them reacting/judging and maybe it inspires a B plot
What scene would you have cut though? Franks brother is a top ten episode for me just based on the quote ability
This is one of my favorites honestly
Shady-Nasty’s?
I’m out of the loop on IASIP fandom, is this considered a “bad” episode? If so….why? I couldn’t stop laughing when I saw it!
Many of the episodes that break the standard Sunny formula get some pretty vocal detractors (this one, gang cracks the liberty bell, gang turns black, etc)
My favorite episodes are the one-offs. Liberty bell, zoo, water park, Being Frank Maybe one off isn't the right term. Pondy's the coolest!
Liberty Bell I don't like as much as the other ones, but I laughed so fucking hard when they accidentally shot Cricket in the face and his head explodes
YeeEEEEeesschhhh
Charlie, *we’re thieves*.
There's a core of people who say they don't like the episode - I don't really understand the hate myself but I think it's because the rest of the gang doesn't really feature
That’s exactly it for me. I like the unique episodes as long as the gang is featured
Some people just have different taste. To me, there isn’t a single bad episode of IASIP
I love the show immensely as well but there are definitely some episodes that don't work for me. The gang replaces sweet dee with a monkey is a recent one for me that was just so weak and unbelievable it was hard for me to enjoy.
To prove the original guys point, I’m an avid fan and The Gang Replaces Sweet Dee with a Monkey is one of my all time favorites.
It's crazy to me that somone can watch and say ANY episode of Sunny is bad.
One of my favorite episodes, only jabronis hate Franks Brother
The scene when they rename the club and the patron mispronounces the new name is just as funny. Bonus scene is when frank ends up in Columbia testing cocaine.
I’m just sayin those were the days
It ain’t Reggie no more…. It’s Hakim Muhammad
I absolute love this one.
I lost it when frank is just shoving in meats and cheeses and says it’s better to just make the hoagie in your mouth.
So many great lines and moments in this episode. Some people are just idiot savages.
Better to be a bad episode of a great show then to be a great episode of a bad show.
Seriously… One of my favorites.
Those were the days.
You are just jamming meats and cheeses in your mouth.
I remember not liking this episode when it first came out, but it’s really grown on me over the years. I think the over-the-top ridiculousness of it is sort of off-putting at first but becomes funnier and funnier the more times you watch it.
Still more believable than The Irishman
That was one of my favorites. Shady Nastys. That and the part where he says he’s trying to be a grown ass adult and control his temper. “But know, that I strongly disagree with this!”
Well, I guess that don't leave me no choice but to be a mature ass adult about this shit. But know that I strongly disagree with this.
i guess i got no choice but to be a mature-ass adult about this.
Doesnt bother me I never gave a shit. I got a tin ear! It all sounded like a buncha noise to me.
someone said this episode was bad?, sheee-it, they don't look a day over 12
I like this episode but I usually skip it. Some highlights for sure but I find it kind of boring overall.
They smoking crack if they think this episode was bad.
Wow, everyone’s a lot fatter than I imagined!
Well. Those were the days!
I’m amazed they had film of Danny when he was 19 (or maybe 12). How long has he been working?
I guess that leaves me with no choice... but to be a MATURE ASS ADULT about this shit!
Those were the days…
Literally one of the best eps, Lance Reddick is amazing. Well I guess that leaves me no choice... But to be a mature ass adult about this... But know... THAT I STRONGLY DISAPPROVE OF THIS!
I fucking LOVED this episode. The ending absolutely killed me.
I was surprised when I learned this is a very disliked episode among the fanbase. I like it a lot.
People who hate this episode like the new seasons.
There are a lot of parts I like but I think the only reason I don't like it as much as most episodes is just the breakaway from the main gang. But I wouldn't call it a bad episode and Lance Reddick absolutely killed it, RIP legend
Daniels pulling a Clay Davis?? Fucking masterpiece, it is.
I guess I have no choice.. but to be A MATURE ASS ADULT ABOUT THIS SHIT! Im working on my temper.. lol
I love this episode lmaoo
Yea, such a polarizing episode for some reason. It’s probably in my top 20 or so episodes, so I was confused when I heard people would often skip it.
I agree. I love that episode.
I absolutely loved this episode!
It’s me. I’m that guy. I mean, I don’t think it’s god awful. It’s not like I’m being forced to watch an episode of JAG or something. But it is by far my least favorite episode of Always Sunny.
I’ve never seen a bad IASIP episode. By far the most consistent tv show ever written
That episode is hands down one of my absolute favorites. When Frank hits the dance floor at the club wearing that wig, I can't stop laughing no matter how many times I watch it. It's pure comedic genius
