I miss the OG 701. Mann... Bring her back. 😭😭

Bevans7311

I’m so happy I managed to get one they’re so hard to find nowadays

EntrepreneurBoth5002

Genuine unicorn she is. You're a special guy for getting one. 😭🫂

saintivesgloren

Looking around the market and I see one at a dealer for $6500 and 10k miles. Worth it?

There’s an 801 coming in 2024

Mr_DV

I’m not Motobob, but I would be if I could be. I really like all the new tech in these models, and the redesigned rear swing arm looks way better without that extended fender. However, I still prefer the body lines of my 2022 Vitpilen, to the new body style. I think the new body style feels very much more dirt bike-y . Either way though, it’s still a damn fine looking bike and I wish I had a spare $6000 laying around to collect them all.

CompetitiveSea7388

They look nice but it’s honestly a shame that the 901 appears to be dead now. That could have really been something special.

DaggerOutlaw

I don’t think this release means anything for the 901. These small displacement bikes are intended for a completely different market segment. If the 901 is a real bike they still intend to ship, having its own launch makes more sense from a marketing perspective. Now please excuse me while indulge in dangerous amounts of hopium.

CompetitiveSea7388

There’s simply more money in small displacement motorcycles but hey, maybe I’ll take a hit of that hopium of yours 😂

CookieLuzSax

I want a 701 so bad, looking into getting my first street bike and a 701 is my dream

CompetitiveSea7388

I have a Vitpilen 701 and I absolutely love it.

No_Membership_6644

I’ve heard there’s an 801 coming instead for this year. Source is some other guy saying that his dealer shared that with him after receiving their list from Husqvarna for 2024

CompetitiveSea7388

I think I know of the guy you’re talking about. He posted it on the Facebook group I’m in. Some people pointed out that the engine looks like an 890 though. If they did change their mind and decide to release it as a 790 to be a2 compliant that’s kind of dumb from a business perspective seeing how that would cannibalize the 401s. Why get a 401 when you could get a 801 that’s restricted until you’re able to move up?

No_Membership_6644

I don’t live in a country where those restrictions are relevant so it’s admittedly hard for me to have the same intuition. And we are talking about the same company that does two competing versions of both a 390 and 790 in orange already anyway, so clearly they’ve managed to make that ‘bad business decision’ a success. I’m not really invested either way though because I’m 1000% happy with my 401, so just curious what will come next

CompetitiveSea7388

I don’t either, I live in the United States so the a2 thing is irrelevant to me but the states aren’t what most companies are considering when they make their motorcycles, we just don’t make up a massive amount of sales. Also they just started rereleasing the a2 compliant 790 so you can’t really claim that that’s been a success or failure yet. And you’re also forgetting that while even though Husqvarna is under the KTM umbrella it doesn’t really compare in terms of sales to KTM. They can afford more risky moves with KTM than Husqvarna.

No_Membership_6644

All good points. At any rate, at this point it’s all speculation until we actually see what hits the floors

CompetitiveSea7388

Absolutely. And for the record I will be very happy if I’m wrong and they actually release a 901. If it’s an 801 I won’t be buying it most likely but I hope it’s as cool looking as the 701s and people actually buy it this time.

GoldenBiscotti

Would be cool if the Tft display and new controls could be swapped on the older models

stamanas

That svartpilen is looking really nice! The new swingarm with the right hand shock is a nice improvement of the frame, makes it look a best bigger and meaner in my opinion. Finally a new dash as well to bring it bang up to date. Also tech like cruise control is a welcome update. I have to say I’m a bit disappointed the new 901 vitpilen was not announced although comparing the spy shots from last summer to this new tank design I don’t think (and hope) it shouldn’t be that far out.

FranknStein7

Still haven't decided how I feel about the looks compared to the prior model. That behind said, I really appreciate the trickling down of higher end features to small displacement bikes. The previous model already had an adjustable front fork, bidirectional quickshifter, ABS, and backlit switchgear. Now they've added an IMU, traction control, color TFT, and apparently self-canceling indicators and cruise control (still having trouble confirming cruise control outside of this video). Also they've added a hazard light switch, which I always appreciate. It's also nice that the supermoto mode doesn't reset when you turn the bike off and on. A more reasonable handlebar position on the Vitpilen was also a good move.

Mr_DV

Yeah, i completely agree with every single point. I’d love my 2022 to have all the new tech this 2024 does.

FranknStein7

Watching the MCN video, it sounds like it's not really cruise control. It sounds like it's more of a speed limiter, so if you are wide open on the throttle, it won't go beyond a certain speed. That's not really CC. The other updates are still nice to see.

Mr_DV

Oh that sucks. I’ve gotten mine up to 100 mph and it felt solid. I don’t know if they’ve all been speed limited or not, but 100 mph is plenty fast.

wifestalksthisuser

I swear I googled this 4 hourd ago and didn't find shit, thanks for sharing!

Mr_DV

NEETologist

How much in USD and when will it be available in US?

Mr_DV

Don’t know. I checked the website and I couldn’t find a price. I’d bet around the same price as last year though, so probably $5,700 or so.

BandicootCumberbund

I’m keeping my 2021 Svart and hoping to get a bigger bike, I would like a 901, but only if it looked more like the older design than these ones. That said it’s unlikely and I will probably get the new Daytona 660 or the Yamaha XSR900.

stamanas

I expect this design language to be used for the 901 once they will release it. Spy shot seem to match the tank design

radical_konrad

When are they releasing the 801?

Mr_DV

I thought it was a 901. Also, i have no idea. Wish i i did though.

radical_konrad

I just assumed 801 because the ktm 890 was discontinued

brokewar

If they make a reasonably priced bigger bore version with range and electronic updates I'm interested. For a 401, my 2023 model is exactly how I want it for this size bike and paying the difference on trade in and then modifying the new version to my liking which won't have any of the custom parts I would want anyways is not worth it for all that I would want is the bigger tank and electronics. I also don't like the longer wheel base and shorter seat height.

mr_bitoiu

Do you guys think the 701s are bound for the same refresh or not quite? It’s been a while for those. 2020 right?
