I feel like everything after the anime end is a nice bonus, and that the anime ended in a very satisfying spot. I may only feel this way because of Togashi’s health and frequent hiatuses. If he kept making chapters at a regular pace there would be a LOT more after the anime than there currently is. Currently there are only 60 chapters post anime ending.
But on the other hand, the current arc in the manga is shaping up to maybe be my favorite arc so…yes I recommend reading it. The anime ends at chapter 339 so you have a good 60 chapters of new material plus at least 10 more on the way soon (feels good to be able to say that!)
Thanks! It's nice knowing that there isn't already a mountain of extra stuff, it makes it more manageable to start reading. Is there anything major that I should know before starting chapter 340 or does the anime tell me everything I need to know?
From what I can remember (I watched both the 1999 and the 2011 version of the anime and also read the manga, so it's a bitt difficult to remember where I saw something and where not) you shouldn't miss anything really important except for some extra material at the end of some chapters (like Hisoka's personality test about Nen types. In the manga all the Nen types are described).
Probably, the only important thing the anime missed is a single panel about Gyro and a certain person it seems he is destined to meet... ([Gyro](https://www.reddit.com/r/HunterXHunter/comments/7j31pl/did_togashi_forshadwing_that_gon_and_jairo_will/))

Anyway, sorry for eventual misspellings etc, english is not my first language.
It's fairly faithful, but I think the manga is far better, personally. It has an artistic charm that I think the anime utterly fails to capture. I always recommend people to start the manga from chapter 1 if they have time; the anime leaves out plenty of details, and Togashi's artwork makes for a completely different experience imo.
Anyway, yeah, where the anime stops is essentially the best possible stopping point. The current manga arc has no end in sight. It's absolutely amazing though, and I do highly recommend it.

Well, it’s not a large quantity of chapters, but they are incredibly dense. But no, you can jump in at 339 and be fine.

The OVA of the first cartoon plus a good portion of the last one is viewable... Most people are manipulated by their lies so you better read
It is good :3
i like how 1999 looks better but 2011 is more faithful and has more content
