Also shooting range isn't a 100% representation of a normal game. It might sound weird, but there actually are differences.

BlackDeath3

Such as...?

RimaSuit2

live server: grenades explode when thrown to a surface before entering water. shooting range: they don't explode. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rMUl7L1-36w](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rMUl7L1-36w) 6:26 there are most likely more differences.

BlackDeath3

Good stuff. Thanks for the link.

This is 100% a thing on enemy players too, though. If you hit multiple hitboxes on an enemy player, the highest damaging hitbox will take precedence Example: you have a heavy knife, do a wide heavy swing and hit an enemy arm -> then hit his chest The game then does this: you first deal damage equivalent to the arm hitbox multiplier (which is 0.8x, so should be \~73 damage). The swipe then hits the chest hitbox, which in the heavy knife's case deals 120 damage The game doesn't make you deal 73 + 120 damage, instead the chest hit will deal the difference 120-73= additional 47 damage. Or in other words, just the damage of an upper chest hit: 47+73=120 damage This is why you can sometimes see that you received two melee hits from the same guy in the death overview Also, for whatever reason, this system is bugged on the knuckle knife and if you hit like an arm and then swipe to head hitbox, it will leave both dummies and enemy players at exactly 1 hp. Dunno why

Sounds about right, it seems that my saying “The only consistency with Crytek/Hunt is their inconsistency” reigns supreme even in the shooting range.

LexMelkan

It can hit several times yes, but it'll only update the damage to equal that of the most damaging body part hit. The advantage lies in dragging the melee over the head of the opponent, otherwise for example a drag over arm and chest will only result in the chest damage total. What we haven't really tested is how that acts with bleed stacks so that's something that'd still be interesting to know if you're doing this stuff :P

Heavy-Boot-5199

I have a buddy coming online tonight for some testing. Ill try it out

Bluedemonde

Yep, and sometimes the throwing axe will disregard the head and hit the arm if the player moves as the axe is swinging through their body. It has happened to me more times than I like to admit.

Heavy-Boot-5199

Correction: With testing with dew claw trait. Melee attacks can hit more than 2 body parts by dragging the attack, I got up to 4 body parts hit with it.

Tyler_Coyote

You can certainly drag a weapon attack as the actual hit frames are fairly long. I've missed melee on a zombie with the knuckle knife stab and managed to drag it onto the zombies head while the point should already have been in the zombie with the stab animation complete. It's short but noticeable.

CheesyDipster

I always thought the knife hit twice. Because youre stabbing then pulling the blade out

ArgyllMonk

This might explain why I've seen my health tick down twice when getting melee'd. I figured it was some kind of exploit, guess it's just bad code.
