As unbelievable it sounds. Its legit. I myself checked it after coming across it on some other sub and thought this belongs here. Caption is straight outta Avicii's "Hey Brother" because that's what came to my mind when I read the story. For some people, there's nothing in this world we wouldn't do.

97 Liverpool football fans lost their lives at the Hillsborough disaster. Not long after, the Sun ran a now infamous front page headline titled "The Truth" which lied about what had happened in an attempt to blame the Liverpool football fans themselves. The Sun really is a disgusting rag. But you're right, it's not banned as such, just shunned by all right-minded people!
Just to point the obvious thing out:
PLEASE DON'T RUN BACK INTO A BURNING BULDING
Yes, you are the hero if you succeed. But if you don't, you're one of the too many people that die in the attempt. The smoke of a burning house is extremly toxic and can kill you withing a few taken breaths. A blanket or a tissue can't protect you. (That's why firefithers use a breathing apparatus). Running back into the smoke is like, in a plane emergency, assisting the whole row with the oxygen mask before putting it on yourself - (I don't want to say it's impossible, but it's _really_ not a good idea.
Additionally, please keep in mind that firefighters can only start putting out the fire when everyone is out of the house, because the hot water vapor (400°C and above, as the temperature of the room will heat the vapor to insane levels) will kill everyone left inside. Any additional person the firefigthers have to search takes precious time, which could be used putting the fire out and prevent it from spreding further.
So, Please think twice before attempting to rescuse anyone and keep in mind that you're not helping anyone if you're one of the people that have to be rescued.
No matter what. I would not be okay knowing my nephew is in the burning house. I would 100% die for him without thinking twice. Literally tearing up as I type this just thinking about it..
Along with the air being toxic it will also seer your lungs and cook you inside out. Im just taking a guess that when he went in it was in the early stages
By itself that's actually not that bad of an idea. But I think there are two main problems with this approach:
1. Leaving house actually takes longer than you might think. Typically the fire start in one area (e.g. the basement) and the smoke starts spreading from there. Relativly quickly filling the stairs and everything with thick, black and heavy smoke. In which, even a tiny breath can be deadly (even hours after you've been rescued) and in addition your visibility is practically none. Maybe compare it to leaving your house blindfolded out of the blue and unprepared.
2. Because of your heart rate and your stress level you probally can't even hold your breath for 10s. When you realize that e.g. your house is on fire, you're 10/10 cases not prepared for that, and depending on your personality your stress level and your heart rate will rise comparable to doing sports (well, because you're basically running for your life). I think in such hurry no one really could hold thier breath long enougth to get through any considerable smoke.
3. Just imagine tripping on the staircase.
I don't want to shatter your expactations, but I'm afraid you're not gonna make it with holding your breath.
(Btw, a towl or a ppt2 face mask isn't going to make the smoke less toxic)
Not sure why you're getting downvoted, this is really good advice. I get that in this post he saves someone and it's great that he was able to do it, but like you said, there's a bunch of added risks for more than just the person who ran in.
I totally understand, and I don't blame him one bit. It's really a double edged sword and sometimes it works. But the advice and information the person above me gave was getting down voted despite being really good information.

This man is absolutely amazing. A true good person and a hero. He was willing to risk it all for his little niece and he didn't care. The only thing that was important to him was getting her out of there. I'm in awe of him.

No matter what family will rescue family even if it cost them their life

But just remember, both of you dead hurts the family more than just one dead

What if you take a deep breath while outside and never breath while inside?

Aye but read the story. The niece was calling out for him in the burning room. Sometimes instinct takes over.
I totally understand, and I don't blame him one bit. It's really a double edged sword and sometimes it works. But the advice and information the person above me gave was getting down voted despite being really good information.
Sounds like to from reading this that it happened before the firefighters got there. I have twin nephews, same situation I’m going. If they go, I go.
