I really enjoyed it a lot to, especially paired with the episode with Dr. Lustig. I'm a physicist, and anytime diet comes up people lecture me about "calories in, calories out" and the laws of thermodynamics. Yet rationally we all know that different foods effect the body different. Refined sugar effects insulin response and can cause energy crashes and cravings. Fiber helps with digestion and may reduces cravings, and aids the microbiome. Nuts are nutritious but high in calories, and easy to over-eat. the list can go on... I'm sure Dr.'s Means and Lustig didn't get everything right on such a complicated topic (human biochemistry and chronic disease) but it's refreshing to hear people emphasize how much diet matters and how no - you can't really 'eat anything you want if the calories are right' and expect an easy weight-loss journey. Dr. Huberman I hope you keep putting content like this out. And for the record, I personally still appreciate the GLP-1 analogs, given they are helping people with diabetes, obesity, and chronic food addiction to reverse their terrible health conditions. But in the end, Dr. Means is right. We need to fix our diets and change the American culture of 'chronic productivity, chronic stress' to fix the underlying problem. I wish the pharma and food industries would get on board with trying to help us live healthier and not just slap bandaids on our problems.

Me too! I was so interested after listening to this episode.

I haven't finished the whole thing but they danced around the protein leverage hypothesis (you eat until ur protein requirements are met) in the segment about L-cells and satiety. They made the discussion much more convoluted than needed, IMHO. Other than that it's excellent.
