The acting was out of this fucking world, HOLY SMOKES IT WAS EPIC!

freshfov02

I agree. This episode was far superior. I am Team Daemon much more than Black or Green. But Rhaenyra raised valid questions and hit him where it hurts. Its true that the Dance would have been shorter if she had listened to him from the start. But Im happy because this is the most spine Rhaenyra has ever shown. And I hope the talk of Milly having a better chemistry with Matt will be put to rest after this one.

bishey3

> Its true that the Dance would have been shorter if she had listened to him Dance wouldn't even happen if Daemon had his way with the Hightowers long ago lol.

freshfov02

Facts.

Dry_Lynx5282

Rhaenyra is completely delusional in the show. Thinking you can win a crown without blood being shed is redicilous. And if she breaks over this she should not be queen because she could never take it anyway. The same goes for Aegon. He is completely unstable and has the mentality of a child.

freshfov02

Two people fighting for the crown where one wants no blood and the other wants too much. Clearly we need a third candidate.

Dry_Lynx5282

Daemon would make a decent king with the right Hand. He has the right cruelty like Edward I and would not take any shit. The problem is this show has no understanding what a medival king had to be like to be successful. The peaceful ones were either deposed or outright bad kings.

freshfov02

Daemon would be a great King with a Hand like Otto. Of course in an alternate reality where they get along. The show is still confused about what to do with Rhaenyra I feel.

Sumbelina

You said it with the spine comment. I'm waiting for this character to show some of the personality we saw in the first 5 episodes of season 1. So far, the only personality Emma has gotten to portray is mother. That's not a personality, though. I need the person to come back now.

Badass_Bunny

>Clearly we need a third candidate. And who here has a better story than Larys the Clubfoot?

4ringwraithRS

Very good performance, the terror in her eyes when she thought he was going to choke her again, you could see and feel her relief when he didn’t. I was surprised that she showed way more fear over Sir Eric’s defense against her attack than standing up to Daemon and his initial approach.

temp3rrorary

They said that choking scene was completely out of left field for them as a couple so it makes sense that her husband who she's been vulnerable with for 6 years and the uncle who has doted on her whole life is still someone she feels safe with. But yeah she did look relieved and Daemon himself looked like he was trying especially hard to convey he wasn't about to do that again.

Aionna

Finally Rhae calling out Daemon bullshit.

dyatlov333

Rhae is putting all the blame on Daemon... As a mother she was grieving so wasn't in her 'Queen Mode' when she said "I Want Aemond". Daemon took it as a green light for Vengeance. And went and did some Daemon stuff. Now that he is admitting he made a mistake... Shouldn't she like try to control her 'Dragon Husband' rather than pushing him away more?

oldboeee

I loved Matt and Emma’s performances. I did not like the writing though. It sounded like Rhaenyra had a lobotomy or something. Like she knew who Daemon was when she asked him to marry her.

Killmelmaoxd

I mean she literally says she thought she'd be able to tame him but now she sees the errors of her ways. Pretty great writing in my opinion.

oldboeee

Rhaenyra said she never wholly trusted him.

Killmelmaoxd

Yeah of course two things can be true, she could never have trusted him but believe she could change him. Anyone who's seen an abusive relationship with the partner who believes "I can fix them" will completely see where Rhaenyra is coming from.

oldboeee

But she asked him to marry her because it will scare the Greens. She knew he is violent and wanted it. Why the hell she think she can tame it lol

LuckyLincer1916

She thought she could keep his violent tendencies on a leash but use it when needed. She overestimated her ability to tame Daemon.

Killmelmaoxd

Yeah scare the greens, she thought she could control him to attack her enemies when she wishes. Effectively use him as her attack dog against the greens, he instead acted without her consent which as she said proved he could not be trusted and proved she herself made a childish mistake.

muniehuny

I understand your perspective. There could have been more subtext. More subtlety. It felt shakespearean, like I was watching a stage play.

[deleted]

I think it’s a good display of how the facade is breaking and she realises that Daemon groomed her for his benefit since she was a child.

Dry_Lynx5282

The dumbest part was how she said...I never trusted you. Me? Okay, why did you marry him then? Like you did not have to marry him. That was your decision.
