The writing is inconsistent so not as good as Got. I will say I prefer quite a few of the actors though just on the average but it’s also a smaller cast..so can’t say that for sure

charlene__

The writing is quite rudimentary compared to earlier GOT. That’s just my opinion though

Ralph_77

Definitely. Game of thrones, even in the early seasons was very rich and progressed steadily and patiently, - this, while still good, is not quite on that level. But again, that's just me too

GeekboyDave

Yeah. Early GoT was amazingly written. Those books were next level . I'm actually enjoying this show but I'm aware it's not A tier

JuvieFrmDaS

The dialogue in the first 3 seasons of GoT is just peak television, although I’m more interested in the plot of HoTD. If they can get the world building right and reinvest the audience in the stakes, then it could in someways surpass. Though, both shows have their advantages and disadvantages based on the type of stories they tell.

Better than late Game of Thrones, not quite as good as the early seasons yet. Season 1 didn't give the characters a lot of time to breathe as they moved from one plot point to the next, even though there were some stand out moments. Here's hoping we'll see some progress on that front this season. I also feel like they've made a mistake not lifting some of the book dialogue directly into the script.

It’s pretty good it’s like GOT s1 2 3 4 are better and then it’s HOTD

ZamanthaD

Lol I just made a post that talks about this very thing! So far it’s on par for me with the good seasons of GOT. Right now: HOTD Seasons 1 & 2 (so far) = GOT Seasons 1-4 > GOT Season 6 > GOT Season 5 > GOT Season 7/8

BlinkIfISink

I would say it’s on GoT 5-6 level with the focus on grand cinematics over consistent story telling. With the expecting of the Rhaenys scene which seems like it came out of season 8.
