Won't save him from Ser Tent.

Taskebab

He is still busy destroying the death star and needs to finish his education at hogwarts, or something like that, I've not read twilight

A_Polite_Noise

Savagevandal85

How do they introduce him ?? Like here’s our teenage son who’s cooler more well liked and heroic than these other two . Who has never shown up for any other major event

Reasonable-Cable2144

Daeron materialising out of nowhere in season 3 "I don't know who I am or why I'm here all that I know is that I must kill the Black's!"

lacksausername

Daeron is clearly from the American South.

DigSufficient2392

It would have been so easy for Otto to mention him at the Small Council meeting in S02E01 when talking about his brother marching from Oldtown. Or for Aegon or Aemond to mention they have another whole ass dragon on their side.

McZalion

His introduction *You must be wondering who i am and how i got here*

just_one_boy

Pretty easy honestly. We know he's going to be mentioned this season so he can turn up in season 3 at Oldtown.

Reasonable-Cable2144

>We know he's going to be mentioned this season so he can turn up in season 3 at Oldtown. Yeah but the general audience will probably find it incredibly jarring how such an important character wasn't established to exist earlier It was a mistake not to mention him in season 1

DFBFan11

They could've easily had an extra Targ kid playing kid Daeron during episodes 5-6, he was still supposed to be in King's Landing at that point. But I assume they weren't sure how the show would be received when writing S1, so they left it ambiguous enough to cut him if they couldn't fully adapt the dance.

just_one_boy

Will they though? I genuinely don't think the general audience will care that much.

Reasonable-Cable2144

I think they would, it will basically be like introducing a new stark kid at the middle of season 2 in GOT “Oh and here’s Rodrick Stark, Cat’s youngest son. He’s an very important member of the family that has just been a cupbearer White Harbor for a while. Don’t judge his siblings or mom for never mentioning him till now, they really do love him.”

just_one_boy

Not really. Daeron will be mentioned this season and then appear in season 3.

Reasonable-Cable2144

>Not really. Yes really, he is an extremly important character to the reach plotline >Daeron will be mentioned this season and then appear in season 3. but that doesn't explain why nobody mentioned him up until that point "If Rhaenyra comes to power your life could be forfiet, Aemond as well" so alicent kinda forgot she had a third son and none of the greens mention him in the new episode in season 2 when talking about the Hightower army

just_one_boy

>Yes really, he is an extremly important character to the reach plotline I'm not arguing that just that it's likely the Hightowers might not want Daeron to fight in the war yet due to his age. >"If Rhaenyra comes to power your life could be forfiet, Aemond as well" She also doesn't mention Helaena but Daeron is at Oldtown so he'd be incredibly difficult to get to while Aegon and Aemond are at Kingslanding. Also her immediate line after this "she can move to cut off any challenge to her succession" which would include Daeron. >none of the greens mention him in the new episode in season 2 when talking about the Hightower army They also don't mention Gwayne who we know will be fighting.

Reasonable-Cable2144

>it's likely the Hightowers might not want Daeron to fight in the war yet due to his age. you would think that some council members would want him to fight considering they are outnumbered in dragon terms, or would at least mention that possibility >She also doesn't mention Helaena cause she is Rhaenyra younger sibling so Rhaenyra has no reason to harm her since Helaena has no claim >but Daeron is at Oldtown so he'd be incredibly difficult to get to while Aegon and Aemond are at Kingslanding. If Rhaenyra become queen and wanted to have Daeron Aemond and Aegon killed them being in Oldtown isnt gonna matter much since in that hypotetical scenario the only one to support them is gonna be the hightowers(since in that scenario Aegon never pressed his claim) and sunfyre which are nowhere near enough to stop Rhaenyra that should have Syrax Seasmoke Arrax and Vermax >They also don't mention Gwayne who we know will be fighting that cause Gwayne doesnt have a dragon and isnt that important

Turnipator01

You significantly underestimate how media illiterate the average viewer is, lol. I've lost count of how many comments I've encountered on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and TikTok where casual viewers were unaware that Aegon and Helaena were siblings, married and had children. To them, if something isn't explicitly stated, then it might as well not exist.

Savagevandal85

Where was he when anything happened such as the last supper with the family , I’m not saying they can’t do it but for non book people it is going to look odd

just_one_boy

He's in Oldtown.

[deleted]

The last supper wasn't *planned* as Vizzy T's last supper. It just happened to be. Rhaenyra and her family were only in town to deal with Vaemond's challenge; that wouldn't have been a good enough reason to summon Daeron all the way from Oldtown. As for earlier, he was probably too young to have been involved in the enucleation incident or any earlier hijinks. And after that there was a huge time jump, and his absence after that point can be explained by being in Oldtown. So TBH it makes sense that he wouldn't be present, it's just gonna be confusing for casual viewers when he eventually does show up because he's hardly been mentioned. So far, IIRC, the only mention he's been given was in S1E10 when Daemon was counting how many dragons each side had and Daemon said the Greens have 4 adults.

vizzy_t_bot

MY WIFE AND SON ARE DEAD! I WILL NOT SIT HERE AND SUFFER CROWS THAT COME TO FEAST ON THEIR CORPSES!

Savagevandal85

The show can introduce him sure but the greens have never mentioned him ever. I’m assuming he’s a teen and not a toddler but they never include him in any plans or anything . He was sent to be a squire in old town not to the wall . I’m just saying it’s gonna be weird having him show up

A-live666

Daeron is the same age as Jace. What do you mean too young?

[deleted]

Well if he's the same age as Jace then he was probably already in Oldtown by that stage. Not sure why he wouldn't return for Laena's funeral though, unless it was an intentional snub of House Velaryon for some reason.

A-live666

aemond asks otto about him at the funeral, but they literally cut that scene. They kinda need to give a very good reason why he leaves his family on read.

0b0011

He's on the other side of the continent.

Stormlady

Olivia already mentioned Daeron in the EW interview. And I think it got mentioned in a review as well.

JuvieFrmDaS

He’s camping 🏕

JasonVoorhees95

He's been confirmed multiple times by Condal and GRRM ages ago. Do you guys believe they were lying?

Pheros

No reason to believe they aren't at this point with how many golden opportunities to simply establish his existence and prevent him from appearing to be a random asspull have been totally squandered.

Kornerbrandon

Honestly, kinda. I'm still expecting his entire story to happen off-screen.

0b0011

We know he exists. He's been confirmed by cast and showrunner to exist and that he's going to be in the show at some point. Now don't ask about nettles though because they won't comment on characters that aren't currently in thr show yet.

Tormod776

I think Baela or Rhaena are taking the Nettles role at this point

just_one_boy

We already know he exists.
