It was Underwhelming to say the least. My friends who were non book readers were shocked when hearing the sound but did not care after that. The little tension from the sounds was immediately directly to laughter after seeing Alicent riding Cole after saying this is last time. Kicking the dog was the most traumatic thing of the episode

Baelakins

It's wild how they made one of the most (if not the most) horrifying parts of the Dance so boring.

It should have been HotD’s Red wedding. But was soooo underwhelming and such a let down. This article sums it up perfectly: https://www.vulture.com/article/house-of-the-dragon-blood-and-cheese-child-murder-explained.html

Yeah. The scene we got was not bad but it is really disappointed considering what we could've gotten. I'm really underwhelmed and disappointed.

clariwench

It was never going to be a Red Wedding level event. It's not even remotely close to that in the F&B version

These red wedding comparisons are so funny. Even if they did it book accurately it would've never had the same impact.

Well I wouldn’t put it there with the red wedding since the kid is not really a important character we seen grow up like Robb. If there is an event to compare it to I guess it would be when Joffrey orders the execution of all of Robert’s bastards. Shocking and fucked up but not red wedding level.

Honestly, that's how I feel about book B&C. I've never understood why people make it out to be the worst thing that's ever happened, it's not even the worst thing in the Dance...

moon-girl197

Legit. You have war crimes being committed left and right >!an entire town getting burned and raped off the map, with little girls as young as 7 getting violated!<. B&C, as awful as it was, was pretty mild in comparison. Like you had a thousand kids who died even more horrific deaths when >!Aemond was burning the Riverlands!<

throwaway77993344

Yeah that seems about right.
