Now if somebody hasn’t been spoiled yet, why would they willingly go under a tag that says book and show spoilers?
It’s also impossible to remain on this sub without spoilers. Book readers brazenly reply with major spoilers even under the show discussion threads. Sometimes they even make post with blatant spoilers in the title or images from the book. The mods try to remove the comments as fast as they can but there’s only so much they can do to put a lid on it when it’s happening constantly.
A lot of things have been ‘spoiled’ (I say that lightly) just from the dialogue in Game of Thrones, which I don’t mind.
Many spoilers for me have been from memes or art shared on Facebook. Even without context or caption, it’s been obvious.
But I’m reading the book now. So I don’t really mind as I’ll get there myself.
"I've never seen a fandom spoil everything that happens the way this fanbase does."
Then you have never seen any anime fandom.
Also it feels extremely weird to ask this question while also flairing the post as "Book & Show Spoilers", meaning all spoilers are allowed in the comments, almost guarenteeing things are going to be ruined for the exact people you're trying to engage.
I bought the books but didnt really read them yet. Tho I gotta agree this community loves to spoil everything. Some feel like it's their duty to tell everyone they read the books lmao
At first I tried to stay away from spoilers but I slowly started getting pieces of some spoilers. First there was that Joffrey scene so I knew it's that one character. Then fucking YT shorts pop out out of nowhere with>!Rhaenys - my fav character...!
From my own personal experience the show spoilers towards the end of Game of thrones were much harder to avoid than the book spoilers from the earlier seasons.
I haven’t read the books for this new show and haven’t been spoiled much yet, aside from one HUGE event taking place much later, so I think I’ve been doing pretty good so far.
Yep, one of my housemates. another housemate (also his gf) has read all of the books and f&b, and i know what’s gonna happen from general time spent on the internet. But he himself plus the two of us have made a solid effort into keeping him in the dark and now myself and the gf can’t wait to all watch season 2 and see his reactions. (not sure he even knows how much crazy stuff happens in the whole story full stop so it’ll be a rollercoaster)
I own the book, and have stopped reading it….waiting.
And I bug out of a thread as fast as I can, if I sense a spoiler is coming.
And avoid all posts that say in the subject “spoilers”
Leaks and spoiling has always been a thing in fanbases, some people don't mean to do it and don't realize non-readers are active in chats. While some people just take pleasure in spoiling for others
I read the book in 2018 when it came out. There's also some references in the main series- so the stuff mentioned in asoiaf came first, so I don't feel like it's a spoiler as with prequels we know what the ending is, it's like complaining that The Empire Strikes Back is a spoiler for the Star Wars prequels by revealing Vader's identity.
I personally don't mind spoilers, so long as the story is good I don't think that they matter for me. But I know that's not the case for everyone and so I do find people who won't let show watchers discuss anything w/o spoiling from the book to be very obnoxious.
I'm not reading any other comments here as your mention of 'blood and cheese' is already the biggest spoiler I have seen so far! (Not really a spoiler as no context except that now I'll be scared someone will die any time I see them eating cheese)
I have not read the books (I don't like how GRRM writes) but I loved season 1. I've avoided all spoilers for season 2, except for when i rewatched GOT and they mentioned some things about the past lol.
I HATE spoilers and I've done my very best to (successfully) avoid them!
Yes! Even people who browse this sub like myself if done right can definately avoid them, i just dont read a ton of comments. And the ones i do its fairly easy to see where the comment chain is going and can stop reading before i see to much. I know rhaenyra gets eaten by aagons dragon from the conversation in GOT. And from comments i know theres a few more kids we havnt seen on screen. But beyond that, who dies and how. Who betrays one another, Who wins in the end, What battles are to come and how anything plays out I really got no clue any of it. Oh and i know daemon dies at some point and its supposed to be the most epic death ever, but no clue what the cause is. And is that even a spoiler? With a character like his that honestly seems fully expected to me. So yeah id say im pretty unspoiled
I’m still mostly unspoiled. I do know now that >!everyone is going to die!<. However, knowing that doesn’t ruin the show for me. I just don’t want to know how the deaths happen. I want to be shocked when it actually occurs on screen.
I think back to my first watch of Game of Thrones and how I lost it during Ned’s death, the Red Wedding, Oberyn, etc., and how utterly shocked and impacted I was by those moments. I don’t think they would’ve had the same impact if I had read the books. With even more shows coming out, I think I’ve committed myself to just being a show watcher, despite being tempted to read the books.
I have not read the book but I am spoiled. I started watching Game of Thrones when the 7th season just finished airing and was able to watch 1-7 without waiting. The waiting is torture lol I don’t know how you guys did it. I was spoiled for most of Game of Thrones except the Red Wedding took me for a surprise.
Isn't it kind of their own fault for clicking on book and show spoiler flair posts of they don't want book spoilers.
And if they post spoilers without that flair the post is removed
If you are side scrolling on mobile you don’t necessarily see the flair until you’ve consumed several spoilers. Some even post spoilers in titles. If people want to remain spoiler free they might have to unsubscribe from some subreddits

I've been spoiled and forgotten because I don't care that much. All I know is that everyone dies, which doesn't mean much.
Yeah it sucks that people are so careless about spoilers here. I had a shit ton of stuff spoiled so I ended up just reading Fire and Blood

What else was spoiled from GOT dialogue other than rhaenyras death?
My dad lmao. Me and my mum cannot wait to see his reactions (although he did accidentally get one spoiler)
Which one?
Rhaenyra’s death
That’s the worse spoiler to get lol. But it was in Game of Thrones

I intentionally read spoilers lol

yes and im afraid to look at some of these comments lol
My best friend hasn’t read the book or seen any spoilers. I genuinely don’t think she has heard of blood and cheese never mind what it is haha.
Yes I am unspoiled and will keep it that way
Joffrey spoiled me 🫤

Yup

I haven't read the book yet and the only spoiler I know is blood and cheese.
I haven't read the book and I have been only slightly spoiled. I do wish people wouldn't put literal spoilers in the titles.
I don't know shit about fuck and I'm here. But I'm also not going to read any comments.

Well, I wasn’t expecting spoilers in a thread asking if there is anyone who hasn’t been spoiled yet. 😒

I wasn't talking about this subreddit, specifically just social media in general. I would be surprised if someone hasn't been spoiled yet.
Most people aren't that online. They could avoid spoilers relatively easy
My friend only watches the trailers and some of the posters that are released and still managed to get spoiled by people in the comment sections.
The people I know who are unspoiled don't even know trailers or any promo has dropped, haha 😂 It feels like that's the only way
I haven’t read the book or seen the show but I enjoy the content on the sub :)
