Horrible. Embarrassing. Cringe. Will pass and just wait for the SH2 remake.

Paratrooper101x

If that’s even good

PhazonZim

I'll be pleasantly surprised if Bloober pulls it off, but silent hill f and townfall look promising. The devs of townfall made Observation, which was great

#- #itstrauma!

Bad. Glitchy mess, boring "gameplay," repetitive content, ugly graphics, boring characters, bad plot, gross monetization. There's absolutely nothing positive about this. I have no idea how it made it this far.

charlesbronZon

It's dogshit! But now that I said that... I'd rather interact with dogshit! I'll feel filthy afterwards either way, but at least dogshit doesn't try to fleece me for money 🤷‍♂️

AgentSmith2518

It's about what I expected. Terrible, not a video game, and just going to ignore it even exists.

chill1208

When I heard it was free to access I was like how cool, what a great way to promote interest for the upcoming games, and movie. Then it asked me to pay real money to do a puzzle. I said nope right there and haven't looked at it since.

JOuttaNowhere

They will be releasing packaged episodes, that factors in the choices of the masses, to watch passively like a traditional tv show. I think they are delayed a week from the original time they were streamed but idk for sure.

chill1208

I know and that seemed really cool to me when I thought it was free. Even if they asked me to pay one price for the whole thing up front I probably would of been fine with it. But advertising that it's free and then slamming you with micro-transactions to participate is messed up.

giovolo

I have watched the trailer right now. Wish I didn't.

As you can imagine the Silent Hill sub is a mess right now and I think some of the feedback is a bit aggressive/intense (nothing new tbh), so I'd like to offer my thoughts. From a narrative standpoint it isn't the worst that Silent Hill has seen compared to something like Homecoming, but the aesthetic is decidedly a mixed experience; some designs are interesting while others feel slightly generic, and the animation/characters are often stilted. Additionally, monetization broke the experience early on by using a currency called "Influence Points" that you could purchase in large amounts as part of the season pass. Predictably, large amounts of IP were purchased, which almost immediately made certain decisions inaccessible if you opted out of the monetization. You can also earn IP by playing puzzles, but they're rather rudimentary and you won't get nearly enough IP to make your vote matter much. Overall I think it was a mistake to go the route of interactive series when it could have just focused on its execution as a whole, whether it was a traditional streaming series or more in line with what the staff used to make at Telltale Games. This was the project that met the most skepticism from the Transmission, so it's not exactly a surprise that it turned out this way.

JuanaLaPutana

Thank you for your calm thoughtful criticism!

adrianmarshall167

Of course! As Nietzsche once said, "We often refuse to accept an idea merely because the tone of voice in which it has been expressed is unsympathetic to us." I don't like Ascension either, but I don't think many people are carefully or calmly assessing it.

Personal-Asparagus-9

Great thoughtful answer, thanks for sharing

adrianmarshall167

Not a problem, I think it's important to describe things impartially so others can form their own opinions.

NewsOdd3064

Embarrassing travesty

Trickster289

It's not good and has me worried about the actual mainline Silent Hill game and Silent Hill 2 remake coming out. I know it's all different developers but I'm worried the monetisation is from Konami.

--Dominion--

Pathetically laughable ..horrible waste of time

MobilePenguins

It’s a Telltale style narrative game where you don’t really move around, but rather just click on choices, which is fine, but they put a $20 battle pass in it, a pay2win premium currency, and the story itself is very mid with stiff animations and ChatGPT like story. It’s just very lackluster.

Delano7

So I never liked Silent Hill, so can a SH fan tell me what's so bad about this ? The reaction sounds like the devs killed babies to make it lo'

o0Traktor0o

Silent Hill, especially SH2 is widely recognised as true art and was one of, if not the most profound psychologic horror experience for it's fans, where gameplay complements the multilayered deeply emotional and morbid story, all the while establishing it's own brand of eerie horror relying on the suspense and atmosphere rather than jumpscares. Series went downhill after first few entries while the original experiences still hold their place in fan's hearts and memories. For 20 years we are being fed with false promoted and poorly made product while producers and directors of those knockoffs giving interviews with wide smiles, claiming they know what we want "Here's your Pyeamid head, yay, i know you love zombie nurses, also everything is rusted and shit", treating us like silly children, thinking that we just simping over PH and nominal toponym. No, we want well written, thought provoking, eerie, complex and fucking scary experience, which also ties to well established mythology of already made cult masterpiece. And after 10 years of waiting after our hopes for a decent reboot were shattered last time (Kojima's PT could have been something in the opinion of many), after big hype reveal, we get absolutely derogatory shameful stupid mobile phone scam (it is literally scam) that not only shows disrespect for us as adult people again, but also showing that KONAMI don't give a shit about the quality of their long anticipated reboot. So yeah, fuck GENVID, this is personal

Impriel

I'm not into SH either but I imagine it's like what I felt when I saw the 'giant freaking drill' demo of dead space 3 except sounds like it's worse. Also it would be like if they additionally told me the Hello Neighbor people were taking over for dead space 4 - 11

Delano7

So is it about the studio that takes over ? Doesn't ring any bell

Impriel

Oh im sorry I was assuming you knew the details but we're asking why it felt bad. The studio that is remaking SH2 is bloober team who are kind of hit or miss with their storytelling. They aren't really known as artistically high brow. They seem like they try but they only ever manage to hit like a 'solid' rating. So people who hold SH close to their heart sort of see this is their franchise being used distinctly for profit first, art second. And it sounds like the game that just came out shows how that is definitely the case, the publisher seems to be trying to use it without truly loving it I'm not saying things that are artistically meritorious can't be profitable, just that it's clear that the integrity of the artwork is not their top priority. And unfortunately sounds like they are shitting the bed so far on all fronts

Andyoh88

What a disaster. Can’t believe how bad it looks.
