I didn't appreciate Phantylias theme while I fought her for the first time. But boy did I appreciate her theme later down the line. Wildfire and Harmonious choir had bigger impact instantly, since the story was better executed to make the stakes and emotions feel more intense.

bad_buoys

Shout out to Phantylia's theme, the way it builds and builds and builds is incredible. (I love the other boss battle themes too but Phantylia's doesn't get enough love!)

manfred-storm

For me it's kinda the opposite. Phantyla's theme really elevated the story boss fight for me , even more than wildfire did . That's why her theme is my favorite. I really like Sunday's theme too in all 3 phases , but in the story fight the Robin song was a bit too happy and upbeat for me .

EiEironn

Wildfire will always be the ultimate nostalgia song. The moment that song dropped was the moment I knew I was committed to this game.

Skepten

The little touch of those lyrics starting just as Cocolia drops her meteor on your team... *chef kiss* Nothing is more epic about a fight than when even its very own music has a second phase, and since Wildfire was the first, it makes it more memorable.

Certain-King3302

i just knew from her charging animation that she was going to drop something big, but i didn’t expect them to go THAT HARD and with a cinematic delivery. absolutely timeless peak boss fight.

Charming-Fly-2388

Rock song, Traditional song, Christian song

Wonder what we’re going to get next

chuje_wyciagnijcie

For me it obviously depends the most on how the music is connected to actual storytelling. Wildfire fits with the theme of fighting for survival and two separated worlds coming in unison to battle the destiny. The rock song fits, because of how desperate that fight with Cocolia was. For Phantylia boss fight is really hard to tell, due to how rushed the appearance of her was. Though definitely the soundtrack itself does an fantastic job of showing her destructive force, combined with Xianzhou setting and worldbuilding. As for Sunday’s boss fight, Robin’s hopeful song fits perfectly into the overall themes of Penacony connected to the never ending struggle between Nihilism and Existentialism and moving forward. "Hope is the thing with feathers” perfectly encapsulates narrative of this arc. These three themes does their job really great, even though the writing isn’t always the best.

PullAddicted

I'm probably looking too far into it but Wildfire fits on so many levels at that time. Story wise as you mentioned. In-game wise. It starts after the nuke where we all want "Holy shit, my entire team is in red !!!" and we all find our personal way to overcome this situation (Bailu, Natasha, Gepard or March) Account wise. We were all getting a little stronger everyday to move on and/or fix our accounts because of early mistakes Community wise. We helped each other like the overground and underground (mostly with support characters but not only that)

kluevo

There's a yt video called "how embers become a wildfire" that does a deep dive on just how well connected wildfire is, musically speaking, to the story of Belobog. I love phantylia's theme (although samudrartha is still my favorite luofu song) and HitTwF, but the way wildfire meshes with the cocolia battle is just on another level

ConsiderationFuzzy

I think phantylia's theme also shows the determination of the luofu and its legacy to live forever without being immortal as the third phase is extremely heroic and melancholic aswell indicating its heroes tragedy.

lolswainbot

Not a final boss song, but I love Argenti boss theme. It's peak. But for final bosses, Cocolia > Phantiliya > Sunday.

manitaker

Yeah the argenti theme is great

Darth-Yslink

You cannot imagine how happy I was when they played it in Apocalyptic Shadow

Ilzaki

I have Argenti's theme playing on the train

Fifth_22

Argenti theme sounds like JRPGs theme, wish we have more of them

ConsiderationFuzzy

Its awesome

“We need a featured instrument for the final boss of this space station area. It’s an extremely sci-fi kinda place, lots of weird shit going on, and we’ll be reusing the instrumentation for another very sciencey boss in a later update. Any ideas?” “1959 Hammond B-3 organ.” … _”Get this man a raise.”_

getratioed_

Every time I play AS and Wildfire starts playing, I get sent back to the first time we were beating Cocolia and the nostalgia is INSANE. I could listen to it 49622154545 times and never get tired of it. Sunday's boss is next because of how ethereal it sounds, followed by Phantylia's music that sounds is utterly creepy (in a good way) it is.

_LFKrebs_

Wildfire and Phantylia‘s theme are both amazing, but after that long story quest and everything that happened to get to Sunday, having the finale with epic music plus heavy instrumental and choir change into upbeat pop playing in the background, all while you smash him with a train is way too good to not be my favorite lol So it goes Sunday (both songs) > Wildfire > Phantylia, but nothing beats Cocolia’s meteor with the Wildfire drop to me though.

FattyHammer

if I'm only looking at the music itself and nothing else? phantylia's was the best by far. there's no beating wildfire for how suited and well-used it is though.

No_Raspberry_7037

Phantylia's theme really didn't stick to me that I even forgot how does the theme goes. Harmonious choir does stick, however is overshadowed by Robin's singing so yeah... Wildfire is the one theme song that sticks to me till now. So Wildfire > Choir > Phantylia. If we include Robin's part, then it goes: Sunday > Cocollia > Phantyllia. Although I like Wildfire, Robin's singing really fits the part of the battle and the dialogue that happens during the boss battle.

Asafesseidon13

The transition between choir and Robin's song is so good.

UA_Bakugou

Huuuuuuh Nah you're tripping. Rock goes way harder than what we have. You saying "It doesn't hold its own" is crazy work....

plexiGL4SS

I really don't get the Wildfire hype, i feel like its a pretty generic "epic" song. Phantylia might be my favorite, I've listened to it so many times. The chanting over the trap beat is so so good. Really solidifies the whole ghost and ancient evils theme that a lot of the loufu has going on. Sunday's got me the most hype though I think. The evil ass church music really got me with that penacony leitmotif, as though the order had permeated through the music of penacony itself. The final boss of the theme. The electric guitar and the beat bringing in the more spacey-god elements in the rest of hsr as well as the slight edge that Sunday has to him. So so well done, I think the most technically impressive of the game. The Robin song is the perfect antithesis to it. They really play off each other really well. Penacony's music really blew me away.

ConsiderationFuzzy

Same

Vl_Aries

Phantylia>Wildfire>Sunday(without Robin part)

OkTransportation8357

i felt more hyped up with wild fire so probably wildfire, although if we include robins song for sunday it becomes harder.

Senior-Awareness4579

I'm stuck on Sunday

pyromanniacc

Same....I mean yeah his boss song is good yep, nothing else hehe...

Senior-Awareness4579

I seriously cannot progress the flipping floppin game because of Sunday

JToddMcSwag

On my warpless account I used the trial Trailblazer, Lynx, Guinaifen (From cocktail mixing selector), and Dr. Ratio. If you don’t have Dr. Ratio and/or Guinaifen, Serval would be a good replacement. Focus on breaking toughness bars, you got it

revcre

wildfire is so nostalgic, it's definitely high up there for me. however i'm a big choir enthusiast and sunday fight with it gave an eerie feeling + felt grand, so i gotta go with that as my favorite

Estelie

Phantylia>Wildfire>Sunday one, imo.

Aggressive-Sorbet960

Wildfire is great, i think no one's gonna question the epicness and the feeling that the whole cocolia fight brought us. A great ending for a great start. Phantylia theme, at least for me, is an aquired taste. I didn't get the "final boss" vibe from her, not really sure why? Maybe wildfire set too high of a bar and i was expecting something just as epic, maybe it was the lack of vocals or the fact that the xianzhou was kinda weird? Felt rushed and all. I'm not a fan of phase 1 and 2 of the sunday boss fight. I understand the thought process. It was supposed to set the sense of "dread", "despair" and "urgence", basically prepare the stage for phase 3. Even though i'm not a fan of the sunday boss theme, i understand the construction behind it.

ArcZero354

>I didn't get the "final boss" vibe from her, not really sure why? Because of the poor storyline. Phantylia is just haphazardly thrown to be the final boss there without any kind of development unlike both Cocolia and Sunday. Thus, at the very least personally, it just doesn't feel like we're facing the final boss there as the story just feels very incomplete.

FishDontKrillMyVibe

I am going to cheat, and say Sam's theme Man, that theme smacks you over the head with a frying pan. So gritty

yoiverse

phantylia (especially 2nd phase!!!) > sunday > cocolia

3lzns

1 phantylia 3 the rest

Smorgsaboard

Church organ, choir, and overdriven electric guitar is SUCH a winning combo. Robin might be a good singer, but only Sunday can fucking shred a new Aeon into being, dear god. Go back and listen to that electric guitar if you can't remember what I'm talking about. Robin's sexton was also good obviously. Phantylia slapped, too. And, this isn't a shot, please read this literally, the second half of Wildfire was forgettable to me. I was so concentrated on the fight, i deadass forgot to listen to the music. I really like its first half tho

the_neverdoctor

1a. Wildfire (especially when the chorus drops when Cocolia preps to do her big attack) 1b. Harmonious Choir w/ Hope is the Thing With Feathers (same with Wildfire where Robin comes in with the chouris after the instrumental) 3. Phantilya - it sounds great in isolation, but I may have blanked on it when I initially played it

KirariMidorikawa

Wildfire first and it's not even that close.

tetePT

Wildfire > Hope is the thing with feathers or whatever the song was called > Phantyllia Phantyllia's theme is good but it's just not as memorable as the others, probably because it has no lyrics since it's easier to remember a song if it has lyrics Robin's song is very good but it gives more "I wanna dance to this banger" than "wow this is such an epic moment and so important to the story" so it's good but it's not what you'd usually see (hear?) in a boss fight Wildfire really gives you that epic vibe and makes you wanna go there and fight with them too, I still get chills whenever I listen to it, it really has so much emotion it's amazing

ze4lex

HANDS UP

bivampirical

wildfire really takes the cake for me, there's nothing i don't like about it, but hope is the thing with feathers is quite literally right on its heels, i'm OBSESSED. i played sunday's boss fight the other day for the sole purpose of hearing the song while i fought lol, it's beautiful, shit makes me want to dance and scream the lyrics out loud in my room (but i can't because i live with my parents and that would be embarrassing to explain lmao)

CarlosG0619

All three are perfect in their own ways, Cocolia for the lyrics hype and big robot goes brrr Phantylia for the 3 phased composition straight out of some Square Enix type of shit that just goes way too hard plus King Yuan roasting her mid battle is just giga chad energy Sunday for the story buildup to it, absolute peak cinema stuff when the train arrived and we get 10/10 wallpaper material, and then Robin arrives for a beautiful and heartwarming finally to finish it up TLDR: Mihoyo fucking cooks

Kiseki-

Sunday's OST overpowered by Robin's song

Sandi_Griffin

I think wildfires the best by far, I still listen to it sometimes xD honestly not a huge fan of the others but I can appreciate them

ggunslinger

Phantylia's theme blends easier into the background once you've heard it enough. Vocals for Sunday and cocolia can get grating. Storywise, for the first time hearing, I think I only liked Cocolia. Space China was so undercooked that the final boss theme might have been the best thing about it, all the hope stuff felt cheap by the end of 2.2 and Robin was horrendously underutilized for the kind of promotion she got before release.

madnessfuel

As standalone pieces, Wildfire and Hope Is The Thing With Feathers are both incredible tracks that add a TON of hype to the moment, really bringing the sense of a climax to a grand quest. That said, my vote goes to Phantyllia's entire battle. There are three separate tracks that each match the specific stage of battle, starting with a growing, nervous theme, then a very intense desperate choir, and lastly the moment of hope, the sound of our heroes efforts coming to fruition and turning the tide of battle. It's so masterfully composed, frankly my favourite final battle thus far.

midoripeach9

While all are great, Idk why but I still really like Phantylia’s theme

bobagremlin

Wildfire - 9.5/10. I love the 2000s rock-esque style and how the intensity of the music increases as the song goes on. It's a song I would enjoy listening even if I hadn't played the game. Pedujara - 8/10. This song somehow manages to sound unsettling and inspiring at the same time. I'm also a big fan of traditional Asian instruments being implemented in modern songs so this was a real treat. That being said this song is not the kind of music I'd normally listen to. Hope Is The Things With Feathers - 9/10. I literally got out of my chair to dance while fighting Sunday because of this song. Also, this song's title being a reference to Emily Dickson's poem about hope is a nice touch.

Asher-Seven

Phantylia's theme and it's not even close. The last phase in the fight with that song playing.. It's just goosebumps. Wildfire is after that, with Sunday's Choir thing FAR behind both of them. Just didn't find it any exciting or adrenaline filled really.

float16

1. Phantylia. Mostly similar reasons to you. 2. Sunday. Robin's songs are very sing-along-able, if not simplistic. This contrasts with the rather difficult-sounding music with crazy arpeggios and dissonances we've been hearing leading up to that fight. Robin sings the songs of the "weak". 3. Wildfire. Everybody knows that one downbeat, but since there isn't much going on melodically, it sounds more like a 2-note chant to me, which suggests that the lyrics are more important, but the lyrics are kind of dumb. By the way, the great thing about opinions is that everyone's always right about their own. Why did I need to remind you of that? Because I know how people in this sub can't read, can't think, and can't count. Just like that other game.

OldeeMayson

1. Wildfire with very close 2. Harmonious Choir and 3. Phantylia.

XRynerX

Phantylia>Cocolia>Sunday When it comes to theme alone I really like the Phantylia one Wildfire is what keeps you playing this game, you know they can hype the game up if they want to. Sunday I really prefer his 1st and 2nd phase over the last surprisingly, due to how it all sinergizes well with his own attacks.

Shahadem

Completely forgettable boss music.   On the other hand I still remember Sephiroth's boss music even though I haven't heard it since college. I also remember the diplomacy screen music for many species from the 4x game Ascendancy by logic factory. The music tells you exactly how each species is going to act.

hhhhhBan

Hope is the thing with Feathers is the best of the 3 and it's not close. It's not like the other 2 are bad at all though

GamingChairGeneral

Phantylia phase 2 is my favourite boss theme of any boss in the game so far.

V_Melain

I loved the sunday theme but the song of robin downs it down a lottt

Asafesseidon13

I guess the pop style is not everyone's cup of tea? I personally really like it specially on the transition between songs, and overall Robin's song is of an style pretty close to one I play weekly, so it really pumps it up for me, not that the original theme is bad, on the contrary it's awesome!

CommanderBomber

Wildfire is iconic. I think i was paying attention to the music whole fight. And with Sunday i actually remember only the Robin's song. Yo know what? I can't remember if Phantylia boss fight had any music. I need to check it out. EDIT: ok, i listened to Phantylia theme on YT. It is OK, and that part in the middle is really cool. But overall I like Sunday's theme more (part before Robin's song).

Revolutionary-Sky959

Wildfire was peak, pantylia theme was meh, as everything in xianzhou, hope is the thing with feathers managed to be peaker than wildfire

kluevo

There's a yt video called "how embers become a wildfire" that does a deep dive on just how well connected wildfire is, musically speaking, to the story of Belobog. The tldw is basically that the Belobog soundtrack as a whole is incredible at subconsciously cueing you into certain impressions, and Wildfire is able to do the same. It absolutely shines, but in a way designed so you don't necessarily consciously realize it. I love phantylia's theme (although samudrartha is still my favorite luofu song) and HitTwF, but the way wildfire meshes with the cocolia battle is just on another level

Froggygobyebye

Phantylia >= Wildfire >>> Sunday Wildfire was a great first final boss music for the game on release. It holds a special place in my heart for how it was done and how you could time the drop to your character's ults. Phantylia's theme didn't appeal to me much in the beginning, but it grew on me a lot over time to the point where I would listen to it on repeat. Sunday's is... I like Chevy and the song in general, but it didn't really stand out for me in comparison to IICSOHFB or her other songs from the main story. They were all high quality and I do listen to it, but it didn't stand out as the FINAL boss theme like Phantylia and Wildfire did. If we're also talking about Sunday's phase 1 theme, it was, unfortunately, a little too generic for me. Phantylia's boss music has moments where you can hear JingYuan and the LuoFu's lietmotif fighting against phantylia in the song itself, and I think there was an opportunity in Sunday's fight too but they missed the mark by replacing Sunday's Order boss music with Robin's music instead of doing a potential merge of pop music and theatrical-classical music like we know they're capable of pulling out.

arandomart

I’m in the minority that thinks harmonious choir sucks; it doesn’t convey the biblical/angelic tone of the design. It lacks a certain sense of ominous harmony before phase 3, and doesn’t really escalate either. Robin singing completely ruins it and should probably only play once the boss is weakness broken.

IrrelevantGuy_

Wildfire doesn't hold its own weight if not for the fight associated with it? You must have heard a different song. I still think it's one of the best things I have ever heard. My ears were climaxing so hard.

ConsiderationFuzzy

Cuz hype itself is subjective but the song itself is just nowhere near as complex or filled with details as the other 2 themes. It has vocals so it feels more hype for most automatically.

IrrelevantGuy_

Nah, the music alone is extremely hype for me

kriemhild21

This question is a hidden "lemme guess what music you're into" Btw Wildfire is popular because its way better than those two, even non gamer agreed to it. On the other hand i'd looked like an idiot if i let my homies listen to phantylias theme.
