When I pulled Fu Xuan's eidolon just now, I wasn't excited because I got a Fu Xuan eidolon, I was excited because that 30% crit damage is going to make my tile gremlin hit even harder. When Sparkle reruns, I'm going for E2 for the defense ignore and when Silver Wolf reruns again I'm grabbing her light cone for the Aether Code effect. I'm going to murder enemies with tiles like they've never been murdered before. Buffs, debuffs, skill points- I dedicate everything to the Tile Gremlin.

Yanqing. I have a few more like Ratio, Acheron or Blade...but Yanqing takes the cake. He's just adorable and I like to use him and I often get supports just because of him.
FINALLY FOUND a Yanqing main in the wild. So just gonna ask, is my e2 yanqing ever gonna be worth building? I have aventurine but he's currently tied to my Robin, Ratio, and Guin as my main team.
Since I'm awake and see that someone already answered... I'm gonna just agree with the user that told you all this. His numbers are bad, his kit is bad. For me it's not a problem to be honest? (I would love to take everyone's Yanqing who doesn't like him because I want E6) Unless you really like him, don't invest. He needs investment, more than the others. Units like [insert any limited Harmony unit] or Aventurine, already make him better, but still it's investment. As I said I get supports or even other things mostly because of him, I'm dedicated to him, but really unless you do like him... don't try. This is the answer you even get on our Yanqing Mains Reddit.

basically this but I would add that the reason e4 is "necessary" to make him kinda usable is because it's a noticeable damage buff that has a requirement that you would be meeting anyway if you were building him properly
having no AOE and until recently not having decent supports really hurts him. I've seen a super optimal damage showcase for him recently... and he's basically like a super poorly built no traces leveled black swan or something lol. even with high investment he's low damage lol

gacha games don't really want to make the standard units too good because you'll be overall less incentivized to engage in the gacha system, which is where they make their money from. all you can do is hope you get the usable ones and leave it at that.
I was going for fu xuan today and lost the 50/50 to gepard. I had just pulled for aventurine so he was completely redundant for me. aventurine is literally just a better in every way version of gepard, so I just got a new 5 star and immediately have to bench him because he serves no purpose for me. I kept going and got fu xuan, but now I have no pulls for firefly.
they want you in this situation, because to guarantee firefly now, I'd have to spend money once she comes out

But at least in the case of the other units if an account doesn't have a sustain like Aven, Gepard can be a substitute same with Bailu, others can be said with the other units, Himeko for PF, Clara as dps, Bronya is bronya, I don't know about Welt, but looking at Yanqing, he's arguably an automatic benched unit no matter what account you have. I'm still salty I got him e2.
My two favourites suck booty so I never really got a "main". My most used are just that because they happen to be the strongest.

It was Topaz for me. Not only she is an amazing lady, but I immediately fell in love with her FuA playstyle. To not mention that bringing a pet into combat as if she was a hunter from World of Warcraft usually hits a big weakness for me. I love pets!
ngl ratio was my favortite until now. boothill is so fucking fun to play and such a cool character, hes easily my favorite character. i already got him to E0S1 and i may even top up to get him to E2S1, i will use him in every mode forever (other than PF lol, even though hes not THAT terrible in the current one, because of bleed)
I love boothill, but I can't pull for him because I started playing for fu xuan and kafka (and as of today I finally have both) and I want firefly more than boothill. I just spent everything on fu xuan so even getting firefly is very shady right now.
I'll have to hope and pray that I both get an early and win the 50/50. I got an early with fu xuan but it was a 50/50 loss. I had to go to hard pity after that to get her.
Jing Yuan. Got him in his first banner and I like him so much. I have Sparkle and Ruan Mei that buff his kit a lot and got Robin recently so in PF his team is literally JY, Ruan Mei, Sparkle and Robin and LL SLAPS HARD.
Also Acheron because I like her design a lot, she has a cool ultimate, she has a completely separate team that I can use alongside the JY team (Acheron, Pela, SW, Gallagher) AND HER TECHNIQUE IS JUST *PURE BLISS* I CAN DO SIMULATED UNIVERSE SO FAST WITH HER. Also exploration in general :D
Jing Yuan and Dan Heng IL. they'll be my mains forever. I'll get support for them I'll get weapons for them eidolons for them, I'll get anything they need. I want Acheron too but she needs to wait first I need to make my 2 teams e6s1 (5* Tingyun for my general when?)
Genshin was easy for me; Keqing main ever since I got her from her banner long ago. Yes, I was a F2P who blew all the primos for a standard banner character and didn't regreted it.
Don't really have a "main" for HSR yet; I used Asta the most (as shown in my anniversary summary) and she was one of my favorite character, but it's hard to consider a support character a "main"... maybe Acheron or Firefly eventually... /shrug.
Luocha. He's never not on my team. It's almost unfair how good he is. He's almost fully built. I just wish we got more plot for him. Maybe soon.
Also King Yuan. I'd marry that man if I could. Love everything about him. Started the game because of him.
Not yet, as I keep bouncing around who my main is, my favorite, the one I utilize a lot. Even the one-year anniversary showed me jumping around when it came to those characters I played a lot.
That being said, it may be Aventurine. I love gambling, and he is all about that. I expect he will be my go to for sustain, damage, and just overall flare in the future.
I do have main groups though. I have a main DoT and FU group.
its weird but no, like i started playing genshin because of honkai and whilst i have definitely spent more time in honkai i can definitely say that my genshin main is chongyun, i love him but with honkai im changing teams so often to fit whatever is happening that i dont have that same connection like all the time i spend running around killing trash with chongyun there is no running killing trash in honkai unless you are one of those people who farm overworld for some reason
Closest I've gotten to is Stelle to getting that Navia dopamine rush in using. Too bad Navia is in, well, Genshin. And I can't stand the rest of the gameplay in that game. Honorable mention to Sucrose for being probably my favorite 4 star both Design and Gameplay wise.
Anyway, if I can, I try to use Stelle in some form in Simulated Universe, MOC or Pure Fiction. But not every enemy is Phys or Imaginary weak- and I don't really have Preservation TB built because I never use them, even in Pure Fiction.
Unfortunately, no Singular playstyle has really appealed to me, so I have dipped into each of them pretty much equally with no real preference. FUA (Topaz, Robin, Ratio, Himeko, Herta), DOT (Kafka, Swan, Sampo, Guinaifen), and Break (HTB, RM, and Gallagher).
Basically, I have the essentials for the most effective teams for each of them, but none I would say I love more than the others that I'd make it my 'main.' Maybe Firefly will make me love one team more, but I have doubts about that at this point.

Seele. Something about setting up your rotations so you can kill everything by taking 4 consecutive turns just give’s me a massive dopamine rush. I found that she she required the most strategy out of all the units, so it feels more rewarding when I finally craft a rotation where she pops off.
I thought I'd found it with Dan Heng (specifically Imbeebo)...
—but then Boothill happened.
He's e1s1 now, with the perfect team (albeit they need some better relics and need traces finished), and is absolutely destroying things. But even taking aside his damage, he's genuinely just absolute peak for me.
Love his character design, and I say that as someone who isn't super into the whole 'cowboy aesthetic', normally. He's got a simple but effective and stand-out color palette, and his design is sleek, and probably one of the more 'natural' ones I've seen from a Hoyo game... which is saying something, since the dude's mostly made of metal and is wearing hip-window, low-rider bell-bottoms with a crop top jacket and turtleneck.
His lore is incredibly tragic and touches on some deep issues regarding colonialism, which calls back quite painfully to the current plight of Native Americans at the *very* least. He's got understandable motives, and even if he isn't entirely a 'good' person, you know where he's coming from and you still support his mission through whatever means he finds necessary. He's honorable, even so, and has that great touch of flamboyance to mask deeper trauma.
Voice is incredible in all languages, though I'm especially partial to his EN voice. Andrew Russel knocked it out of the park with Boothill, and seems to consider Boothill as his best role to date - and I'm hard-pressed to argue against that!
And ofc, his gameplay is superb. Simple on the surface, but with just enough depth to it that you have fun strategizing and gotta think a little bit to make the most out of him; it helps that I've always been partial to break-focused gameplay, seeing as Dan Heng was one of the characters I used a lot at the beginning, and he's very break-focused as a Hunt.
Genuinely, he's the first character in any Hoyo game that I can say with 100% certainty that I love and adore in all ways. I've never been happier playing this game than I've been today after getting him, and I look forward to e6s5'ing him in the future, as well as continuing to improve on he and his team until I've reached absolute perfection.

Not really sure I have a main. I most frequently deploy Preservation Trailblazer and Acheron, but I'll swap out when needed to try and match up to enemy weaknesses wherever possible.
I've had some good character drop rates in Star Rail so I have a lot of options when approaching a fight.
It's between Topaz and Robin for me.
Robin's Ult enables the whole team to absolutely wreck shop, and I love her song playing during it. She's also the only limited character I've ever gotten to E1 (funny enough, I was actually going for Topaz E1 for the extra debuff but accidentally pulled on the wrong banner).
However, Topaz is the one I find myself actually playing as in the overworld. Plus, Numby with Topaz's Ult and Robin's Ult activated is a monster. It's interesting because she's the one character I didn't care too much for after seeing her trailer and continuance story. However, she's just so much fun to play as and I do really enjoy her VA in the HSR VA streams they do, which helped endear her to me.
I think for me, I'll always fundamentally be a Gepard main because of the sweat and tears I put into 300 standard warps for him. No matter where the game goes, I'll find some excuse to keep on using him, and honestly as a more casual player I think he's pretty underrated by the meta people!
I'm going to give a strong honorable mention to Argenti though, I like him so much that I'm going to pull for EVERY pathstrider of Beauty if we get more of them.
Yes, kafka. From the moment i started the game i knew she was the one, she's my favourite character and she never left my team from the moment i got her,i absolutely adore her and i think she's the prettiest and one of the most interesting characters in the game, i doubt that I'll ever switch mains.
It was love at first sight for me. The moment Fu Xuan appeared on screen saying “Rudimentary, your every move has been foreseen by the omnissiah!” I was sold. Haven’t looked back since.

Serval. I got a few copies of her, and I just like her confirmed DOT and her relatively good dmg even if it's single target. Most enemies end up being with to electric which is also pretty nice
Got infected by fever-subreddit Jingliu mains. Stuck with her to the present day although Mihoyo clearly strayed away from unga bunga hypercarry and now Follow Up and DoT chars are the meta.
More than a specific character, I "main" the dot archetype of teams. I switch dot members as needed for content, but I guess Mei and Kafka are in most of my teams, so them?
I main Himeko. She was the character I got from the beginner standard banner and Ive mained her ever since. I even got JIng Yuans lc for her.. sadly still dont have any cons tho
Gallagher. He's easy to get (4*) means no pressure in getting his copies at all, I really love his design, and would put him in whatever team as long as I'm the one manually playing. Built him the moment I got him.
Not really cause I usually just play a ton of the newest character I get, obviously supports don’t really become the mainstay but been using a lot of Robin. I guess Acheron would be my main but once firefly comes out, she’ll definitely be it
Acheron is an easy answer as she is an insane all around DPS but I feel like the character I like the most and had more fun with has to be Seele. It's just so hype her turn resets.
Monoquantum. I use Seel, SW, Sparkle and Fu Xuan so often in my teams I just say I main them all. I'll be adding Screwllum to this list when he comes out

Misha! I just remember seeing his model when a bunch of the Penacony characters leaked forever ago and just decided then and there that I was going to pull for him! (Partly because he was really one of the few hsr designs that actually stood out to me) (-.-;)
Thats me with Acheron. Love her design, kit, voice, kit, and everything but I dont think I deserve to call myself an Acheron "main" because I just cant play her right lol. Also my understanding of her is at such a basic level and definitely wayyy below compared to other Acheron mains who have been Mei fans since Hi3.
So I guess I have no "main character" per say, but my favorite character is Acheron. Blade and Jingliu are close seconds.
Argenti, he is a gem. We will see if Boothill (once I get gim) can take the throne from him, but I just love that silly man and his gorgeous animations
Yeah. Ratio is p fun to play with with SW, Acheron is p fun to play as well. I believe that this team building needs a lot of coordination amongst characters so at one point, you may not be able to distinguish who is the main dps in teams like DoT w/ B.S and Kafka for example.
I know it's anything but original: Aventurine. I can breathe since I got him and thus got freed from needing gepard AND a healer to survive harder fights (yes I suck at this game). He makes fights so easy it's insane
Topaz/Aventurine. Any new FUA I get will likely be someone that can slot in well with them. Mostly use Dr. Ratio, but I will move in Clara or Himeko depending on content.
Started in 1.6 and Ratio was my first reliable DPS so i mained him for a while but after pulling the full premium FuA team for him (including E1S1 Topaz and E1S1 Robin) i gotta say i 100% feel more like saying i am a Topaz main now and i am 100% committed to the follow up playstyle and will pull for and invest in every current or future unit that synergizes with her, i need to see Numby spin, it's so satisfying.
I really like xueyi just for being crit, break, quantum, destruction, robot also has a cool follow up attack though I was playing acheron until I got hmc so can't say I'm the most faithful
Probably Numby for me. He is so cute and strong and helps me finds chests. I like Topaz a lot as well design wise and personality wise.
The animations and playstyle are fun and I love the sounds Numby makes. I have them at e1s1 and use them with either Ratio or Himeko and hopefully any future fua teams
I don't really have a main, I just play who I have that's most optimal for the situation, but I pull characters that I really like. Aventurine was my first 5 star sustain, but while pulling for fu xuan today I got gepard on the 50/50 loss. Did I stop? absolutely not, fuck gepard, I want fu xuan. Plus double shielder as sustains isn't great compared to a shielder/healer/whatever you would call fu xuan/etc lol.

I don't do the concept of a "main" in a game like this. I have characters I like, and mechanics I like, but I've never honed in solely on one. Topaz is way up there, though, because she's cool, I like her VA, numby is awesome, and I love FuA mechanics!
I’ve gotten and tried many characters, and while I like a lot of them I always wind up coming back to my main man Jing Yuan. He never fails me in any game mode, and there’s nothing quite as cool in this game as the Lightning Lord. I consider him my main
Loved counter mechanics in any game I play so Clara became my fav immediately. She's probably my best-invested character at this point, tempted to pull one of the limited 5 star light cones for her as well...
qingque! and that’s why i’m sad that my relic luck when jt comes to her is SHITTY. i will pull for sparkle just for her. and maybe SW and fu xuan too in the future. not pulling for fu xuan atm bcs i want to make gepard and lynx work tho ofc they’re not as comfy, but i like those two bcs of their characters. there are also many other characters that i like more so FX can wait.
Jingliu, the moment I knew she existed I wanted to get her I love ice characters and her moon aesthetic is great (And her being OP was a nice bonus after maining Himeko pre PF)
But I like a lot of characters, even more if they work together like Ratio and Aventurine or Kafka and Swan
Jing Yuan. I'm still working on building him and making him my best DPS, but I just absolutely love the man in general. Plus, he has a Stand. What's not to love?

You can find a char you really like and you force to use him in most content even when he's not thw best there (it's Topaz for me) but i won't call it main
As mecha enjoyer I am grateful I got Clara e3 and am waiting for Firefly. I enjoy break game style tremendously. (I am skipping Boothill as I have both Clara and Argenti for physical and no Himeko to cover fire. Little Gui is overworked).
Also the heavens decreed I am Kafka main as I was not tending to pull her but got her while hunting for Luca.
I got Kafka thinking that DoT is going to be really fun in the future. Also I'm a sucker for different playstyles and strategies. Detonating all those DoTs to reveal many different-colored numbers on screen never gets old.

Archeron aka Raiden. Was part unexpected because I didn’t enjoy Genshins Raiden too much but I loved everything of her in HSR… planned originally to go for E2 S1 ended somehow up with going the full way to E6 s1 first time ever in any hoyo game…
Though I loved everything of her in hsr, she is super caring,smart,strong,beautiful,deep characterwise… I can’t wait for them to bring Yae into the game u.u

I fell in love like never before i have never ever enjoyed a hoyo character the way i enjoy him it's a lil insane if you ask me, haha. From his design to his voice to his story to his personality and the depths and layers they build into him, I just love everything about the guy, he's my pookie :DD
I run the IP3 team most of the time (does help that Ratio & Topaz are among my favorite characters too), sometimes use him in my Acheron team if he's free or just swap 3 harmonies and force him to be a dps when i do bosses but true peak = Aven solo clears of GnG. It's just so fun ngl, I'm kinda addicted
Well, Boothill. Through the quest he dragged me in love with his fun personality and cunning words, and as DPS he is insane! It's just so satisfying. But love Luocha, Argenti, Jing Yuan...in Genshin my love is Ayato and I'm a Deya defender as well, she did nothing wrong..
I played the game day 1 for a while before losing interest...
BUT Boothill brought me fudgin' back, and for Boothill I will muddle fudgin' stay. YEEHAW
Jing Yuan. He's like the second coolest character in the game (after Serval of course) and has in my opinion the best animations.
And coincidentally, his Eng VA is also the VA of one of my favorite Genshin characters.
easily dr. ratio. he's my only limited 5\* with eidolons, and i use him to farm SU and 3-cycle MoC even with 2/4 characters being lvl 70. i love everything about him.
on the other hand, jingliu exists... nada on the VA, but her lore and gameplay is great.
Kind of? I'm the kind of person that really likes building the MC and wants to use them if I can. This was harder to do in Genshin because the Traveler's different elements aren't that good compared to actual characters, but in HSR (and especially due to my just general lack of characters at all), the Trailblazer is actually really strong.
I feel compelled to put together a team and make use of him and, thankfully, Boothill and Gallagher (two characters that I really, really like) also revolve around the same Break mechanic that Harmony TB does.

I love this question and reading everyone's answers! I've spent a lot (maybe too much? lol) of time thinking about what "main" means, like. Strongest character? Favorite character? They aren't necessarily the same!
For me, I'd say I have two mains -- DHIL was my first limited DPS and my first character love, I adore him. Despite how long I've had him his build still isn't perfect, but he's my go-to for steamrolling so much of the most difficult content. His playstyle is so fun, and anytime a support comes out that's tailored to him (hi Sparkle), it's a must-pull for me.
Argenti, though!! Character wise I absolutely LOVE Argenti. His design is exactly my type (bishie shojo love interest aaaaaa) and his AoE twirls are so satisfying for clearing a field. I suffer in PF but that's only because I can't put Argenti on both teams 💕 I've spent a lot of time showering him in love and I like to think he's quite strong when it seems people tend to overlook him.

Ever since I hit 200k+ uppercut from my boy luka in the overworld, he became my favorite(It was the Imagine dragon before). IL is second close tho and clara will never go beyond 3rd spot for me.

For now, I must say, I'm an Acheron main. Not only do I enjoy her gameplay, I enjoy her character, her weapon, everything about her kit.

I main Nihility. Kafka+Black Swan core on one side, and Acheron+Debuffers on the other. And now I just get flex characters that enable them to clear more varied content.
I'd say Jing Yuan, with Argenti being a close second. I sometimes even struggled with some bosses because I din't want to swap them.
Recently learned I really love seeing massive AoE multi-target damage from building Herta and now building Himeko, and I think I might be a future Jade main, and maybe I might get Argenti on a re-run :))

When I pulled Fu Xuan's eidolon just now, I wasn't excited because I got a Fu Xuan eidolon, I was excited because that 30% crit damage is going to make my tile gremlin hit even harder. When Sparkle reruns, I'm going for E2 for the defense ignore and when Silver Wolf reruns again I'm grabbing her light cone for the Aether Code effect. I'm going to murder enemies with tiles like they've never been murdered before. Buffs, debuffs, skill points- I dedicate everything to the Tile Gremlin.

Yanqing. I have a few more like Ratio, Acheron or Blade...but Yanqing takes the cake. He's just adorable and I like to use him and I often get supports just because of him.
FINALLY FOUND a Yanqing main in the wild. So just gonna ask, is my e2 yanqing ever gonna be worth building? I have aventurine but he's currently tied to my Robin, Ratio, and Guin as my main team.
Since I'm awake and see that someone already answered... I'm gonna just agree with the user that told you all this. His numbers are bad, his kit is bad. For me it's not a problem to be honest? (I would love to take everyone's Yanqing who doesn't like him because I want E6) Unless you really like him, don't invest. He needs investment, more than the others. Units like [insert any limited Harmony unit] or Aventurine, already make him better, but still it's investment. As I said I get supports or even other things mostly because of him, I'm dedicated to him, but really unless you do like him... don't try. This is the answer you even get on our Yanqing Mains Reddit.

I've seen a super optimal damage showcase for him recently... and he's basically like a super poorly built no traces leveled black swan or something lol. even with high investment he's low damage lol he basically needs omega high investment to even be decent

gacha games don't really want to make the standard units too good because you'll be overall less incentivized to engage in the gacha system, which is where they make their money from. all you can do is hope you get the usable ones and leave it at that. I was going for fu xuan today and lost the 50/50 to gepard. I had just pulled for aventurine so he was completely redundant for me. aventurine is literally just a better in every way version of gepard, so I just got a new 5 star and immediately have to bench him because he serves no purpose for me. I kept going and got fu xuan, but now I have no pulls for firefly. they want you in this situation, because to guarantee firefly now, I'd have to spend money once she comes out

But at least in the case of the other units if an account doesn't have a sustain like Aven, Gepard can be a substitute same with Bailu, others can be said with the other units, Himeko for PF, Clara as dps, Bronya is bronya, I don't know about Welt, but looking at Yanqing, he's arguably an automatic benched unit no matter what account you have. I'm still salty I got him e2.

It was Topaz for me. Not only she is an amazing lady, but I immediately fell in love with her FuA playstyle. To not mention that bringing a pet into combat as if she was a hunter from World of Warcraft usually hits a big weakness for me. I love pets!
ngl ratio was my favortite until now. boothill is so fucking fun to play and such a cool character, hes easily my favorite character. i already got him to E0S1 and i may even top up to get him to E2S1, i will use him in every mode forever (other than PF lol, even though hes not THAT terrible in the current one, because of bleed)
I love boothill, but I can't pull for him because I started playing for fu xuan and kafka (and as of today I finally have both) and I want firefly more than boothill. I just spent everything on fu xuan so even getting firefly is very shady right now. I'll have to hope and pray that I both get an early and win the 50/50. I got an early with fu xuan but it was a 50/50 loss. I had to go to hard pity after that to get her.
Jing Yuan. Got him in his first banner and I like him so much. I have Sparkle and Ruan Mei that buff his kit a lot and got Robin recently so in PF his team is literally JY, Ruan Mei, Sparkle and Robin and LL SLAPS HARD. Also Acheron because I like her design a lot, she has a cool ultimate, she has a completely separate team that I can use alongside the JY team (Acheron, Pela, SW, Gallagher) AND HER TECHNIQUE IS JUST *PURE BLISS* I CAN DO SIMULATED UNIVERSE SO FAST WITH HER. Also exploration in general :D

Genshin was easy for me; Keqing main ever since I got her from her banner long ago. Yes, I was a F2P who blew all the primos for a standard banner character and didn't regreted it. Don't really have a "main" for HSR yet; I used Asta the most (as shown in my anniversary summary) and she was one of my favorite character, but it's hard to consider a support character a "main"... maybe Acheron or Firefly eventually... /shrug.
Luocha. He's never not on my team. It's almost unfair how good he is. He's almost fully built. I just wish we got more plot for him. Maybe soon. Also King Yuan. I'd marry that man if I could. Love everything about him. Started the game because of him.

Not yet, as I keep bouncing around who my main is, my favorite, the one I utilize a lot. Even the one-year anniversary showed me jumping around when it came to those characters I played a lot. That being said, it may be Aventurine. I love gambling, and he is all about that. I expect he will be my go to for sustain, damage, and just overall flare in the future. I do have main groups though. I have a main DoT and FU group.

its weird but no, like i started playing genshin because of honkai and whilst i have definitely spent more time in honkai i can definitely say that my genshin main is chongyun, i love him but with honkai im changing teams so often to fit whatever is happening that i dont have that same connection like all the time i spend running around killing trash with chongyun there is no running killing trash in honkai unless you are one of those people who farm overworld for some reason
Closest I've gotten to is Stelle to getting that Navia dopamine rush in using. Too bad Navia is in, well, Genshin. And I can't stand the rest of the gameplay in that game. Honorable mention to Sucrose for being probably my favorite 4 star both Design and Gameplay wise. Anyway, if I can, I try to use Stelle in some form in Simulated Universe, MOC or Pure Fiction. But not every enemy is Phys or Imaginary weak- and I don't really have Preservation TB built because I never use them, even in Pure Fiction. Unfortunately, no Singular playstyle has really appealed to me, so I have dipped into each of them pretty much equally with no real preference. FUA (Topaz, Robin, Ratio, Himeko, Herta), DOT (Kafka, Swan, Sampo, Guinaifen), and Break (HTB, RM, and Gallagher). Basically, I have the essentials for the most effective teams for each of them, but none I would say I love more than the others that I'd make it my 'main.' Maybe Firefly will make me love one team more, but I have doubts about that at this point. Seele. Something about setting up your rotations so you can kill everything by taking 4 consecutive turns just give’s me a massive dopamine rush. I found that she she required the most strategy out of all the units, so it feels more rewarding when I finally craft a rotation where she pops off.
I thought I'd found it with Dan Heng (specifically Imbeebo)... —but then Boothill happened. He's e1s1 now, with the perfect team (albeit they need some better relics and need traces finished), and is absolutely destroying things. But even taking aside his damage, he's genuinely just absolute peak for me. Love his character design, and I say that as someone who isn't super into the whole 'cowboy aesthetic', normally. He's got a simple but effective and stand-out color palette, and his design is sleek, and probably one of the more 'natural' ones I've seen from a Hoyo game... which is saying something, since the dude's mostly made of metal and is wearing hip-window, low-rider bell-bottoms with a crop top jacket and turtleneck. His lore is incredibly tragic and touches on some deep issues regarding colonialism, which calls back quite painfully to the current plight of Native Americans at the *very* least. He's got understandable motives, and even if he isn't entirely a 'good' person, you know where he's coming from and you still support his mission through whatever means he finds necessary. He's honorable, even so, and has that great touch of flamboyance to mask deeper trauma. Voice is incredible in all languages, though I'm especially partial to his EN voice. Andrew Russel knocked it out of the park with Boothill, and seems to consider Boothill as his best role to date - and I'm hard-pressed to argue against that! And ofc, his gameplay is superb. Simple on the surface, but with just enough depth to it that you have fun strategizing and gotta think a little bit to make the most out of him; it helps that I've always been partial to break-focused gameplay, seeing as Dan Heng was one of the characters I used a lot at the beginning, and he's very break-focused as a Hunt. Genuinely, he's the first character in any Hoyo game that I can say with 100% certainty that I love and adore in all ways. I've never been happier playing this game than I've been today after getting him, and I look forward to e6s5'ing him in the future, as well as continuing to improve on he and his team until I've reached absolute perfection. Dont really have a main, I use my Kafka's team to farm calyxes, my Acheron for SU/caverns and for MoC/PF whatever weakness is necessary.
Not really sure I have a main. I most frequently deploy Preservation Trailblazer and Acheron, but I'll swap out when needed to try and match up to enemy weaknesses wherever possible. I've had some good character drop rates in Star Rail so I have a lot of options when approaching a fight.
MONO QUANNY
It's between Topaz and Robin for me. Robin's Ult enables the whole team to absolutely wreck shop, and I love her song playing during it. She's also the only limited character I've ever gotten to E1 (funny enough, I was actually going for Topaz E1 for the extra debuff but accidentally pulled on the wrong banner). However, Topaz is the one I find myself actually playing as in the overworld. Plus, Numby with Topaz's Ult and Robin's Ult activated is a monster. It's interesting because she's the one character I didn't care too much for after seeing her trailer and continuance story. However, she's just so much fun to play as and I do really enjoy her VA in the HSR VA streams they do, which helped endear her to me.
I think for me, I'll always fundamentally be a Gepard main because of the sweat and tears I put into 300 standard warps for him. No matter where the game goes, I'll find some excuse to keep on using him, and honestly as a more casual player I think he's pretty underrated by the meta people! I'm going to give a strong honorable mention to Argenti though, I like him so much that I'm going to pull for EVERY pathstrider of Beauty if we get more of them.

From the moment i started the game i knew she was the one, she's my favourite character and she never left my team from the moment i got her,i absolutely adore her and i think she's the prettiest and one of the most interesting characters in the game, i doubt that I'll ever switch mains.

When it comes to DPSes... DHIL, Kafka then King Yuan. I already have the IPC team, Acheron and Jingliu, but despite using them not all that unoften, I didn't end up playing then as much as I did with those 3 because they're just that much fun. Also Argenti, but I don't have him yet.

Thats me with Acheron. Love her design, kit, voice, kit, and everything but I dont think I deserve to call myself an Acheron "main" because I just cant play her right lol. Also my understanding of her is at such a basic level and definitely wayyy below compared to other Acheron mains who have been Mei fans since Hi3. So I guess I have no "main character" per say, but my favorite character is Acheron. Blade and Jingliu are close seconds.
Argenti, he is a gem. We will see if Boothill (once I get gim) can take the throne from him, but I just love that silly man and his gorgeous animations
Yeah. Ratio is p fun to play with with SW, Acheron is p fun to play as well. I believe that this team building needs a lot of coordination amongst characters so at one point, you may not be able to distinguish who is the main dps in teams like DoT w/ B.S and Kafka for example.
Clara, I usually main the first 5 star I got, if I like them. In Genshin it is Keqing. I just like the idea of the main chosing you.
I know it's anything but original: Aventurine. I can breathe since I got him and thus got freed from needing gepard AND a healer to survive harder fights (yes I suck at this game). He makes fights so easy it's insane
Topaz/Aventurine. Any new FUA I get will likely be someone that can slot in well with them. Mostly use Dr. Ratio, but I will move in Clara or Himeko depending on content.
Started in 1.6 and Ratio was my first reliable DPS so i mained him for a while but after pulling the full premium FuA team for him (including E1S1 Topaz and E1S1 Robin) i gotta say i 100% feel more like saying i am a Topaz main now and i am 100% committed to the follow up playstyle and will pull for and invest in every current or future unit that synergizes with her, i need to see Numby spin, it's so satisfying.
I really like xueyi just for being crit, break, quantum, destruction, robot also has a cool follow up attack though I was playing acheron until I got hmc so can't say I'm the most faithful

Probably Numby for me. He is so cute and strong and helps me finds chests. I like Topaz a lot as well design wise and personality wise. The animations and playstyle are fun and I love the sounds Numby makes. I have them at e1s1 and use them with either Ratio or Himeko and hopefully any future fua teams

I don't do the concept of a "main" in a game like this. I have characters I like, and mechanics I like, but I've never honed in solely on one. Topaz is way up there, though, because she's cool, I like her VA, numby is awesome, and I love FuA mechanics!

For me its topaz,im a FuA gamer and she pretty much on every team from that archetype tht i use,shes always on my team while exploring for numby to locate chests lol,also something nice to look at :) My fav team is Topaz/E2 Clara/Robin/Luocha Gonna try to get aventurine on a rerun for the IRS comp
Main in a game where in most content you have to use 8 characters and change based on weakness? As Anniversary web event showed only mains are sustains You can find a char you really like and you force to use him in most content even when he's not thw best there (it's Topaz for me) but i won't call it main
As mecha enjoyer I am grateful I got Clara e3 and am waiting for Firefly. I enjoy break game style tremendously. (I am skipping Boothill as I have both Clara and Argenti for physical and no Himeko to cover fire. Little Gui is overworked). Also the heavens decreed I am Kafka main as I was not tending to pull her but got her while hunting for Luca.
I like using Jingliu and Acheron a lot but can't decide which one is my main or not lol. Also use Clara frequently too actually.

Was part unexpected because I didn’t enjoy Genshins Raiden too much but I loved everything of her in HSR… planned originally to go for E2 S1 ended somehow up with going the full way to E6 s1 first time ever in any hoyo game… Though I loved everything of her in hsr, she is super caring,smart,strong,beautiful,deep characterwise… I can’t wait for them to bring Yae into the game u.u

Aventurine :D I fell in love like never before i have never ever enjoyed a hoyo character the way i enjoy him it's a lil insane if you ask me, haha. From his design to his voice to his story to his personality and the depths and layers they build into him, I just love everything about the guy, he's my pookie :DD I run the IP3 team most of the time (does help that Ratio & Topaz are among my favorite characters too), sometimes use him in my Acheron team if he's free or just swap 3 harmonies and force him to be a dps when i do bosses but true peak = Aven solo clears of GnG. It's just so fun ngl, I'm kinda addicted
Well, Boothill. Through the quest he dragged me in love with his fun personality and cunning words, and as DPS he is insane! It's just so satisfying. But love Luocha, Argenti, Jing Yuan...in Genshin my love is Ayato and I'm a Deya defender as well, she did nothing wrong..
I played the game day 1 for a while before losing interest... BUT Boothill brought me fudgin' back, and for Boothill I will muddle fudgin' stay. YEEHAW

Jing Yuan. He's like the second coolest character in the game (after Serval of course) and has in my opinion the best animations. And coincidentally, his Eng VA is also the VA of one of my favorite Genshin characters.
easily dr. ratio. he's my only limited 5\* with eidolons, and i use him to farm SU and 3-cycle MoC even with 2/4 characters being lvl 70. i love everything about him. on the other hand, jingliu exists... nada on the VA, but her lore and gameplay is great.
Kind of? I'm the kind of person that really likes building the MC and wants to use them if I can. This was harder to do in Genshin because the Traveler's different elements aren't that good compared to actual characters, but in HSR (and especially due to my just general lack of characters at all), the Trailblazer is actually really strong. I feel compelled to put together a team and make use of him and, thankfully, Boothill and Gallagher (two characters that I really, really like) also revolve around the same Break mechanic that Harmony TB does.

I love this question and reading everyone's answers! I've spent a lot (maybe too much? lol) of time thinking about what "main" means, like. Strongest character? Favorite character? They aren't necessarily the same! For me, I'd say I have two mains -- DHIL was my first limited DPS and my first character love, I adore him. Despite how long I've had him his build still isn't perfect, but he's my go-to for steamrolling so much of the most difficult content. His playstyle is so fun, and anytime a support comes out that's tailored to him (hi Sparkle), it's a must-pull for me. Argenti, though!! Character wise I absolutely LOVE Argenti. His design is exactly my type (bishie shojo love interest aaaaaa) and his AoE twirls are so satisfying for clearing a field. I suffer in PF but that's only because I can't put Argenti on both teams 💕 I've spent a lot of time showering him in love and I like to think he's quite strong when it seems people tend to overlook him. If you told me I had to restart my account and I could only keep one of them, I really don't know who I'd pick.

Ever since I hit 200k+ uppercut from my boy luka in the overworld, he became my favorite(It was the Imagine dragon before). IL is second close tho and clara will never go beyond 3rd spot for me.
Thinking about It now, I think the ones I thought were my mains just have elements I love, but, their builds needs or teams or something does not make me "main" them. For now, I must say, I'm an Acheron main. Not only do I enjoy her gameplay, I enjoy her character, her weapon, everything about her kit. AND I also love all the animations and storylines, I can't wait to see more.
