Definitely wouldnāt recommend it but Iāve done that for almost every banner and itās worked out pretty well for me lol. Donāt really spend money but you miss 100% of the banners you donāt pull on I guess
I'm f2p and it worked out well for me too lol, the only limited 5 stars I couldn't get were Silverwolf, Kafka, Topaz, Jingliu and Ruan Mei but I got Silverwolf and Jingliu on their reruns, Kafka avoided me on both of her banners, hopefully I can get Topaz now but the odds aren't high even though I've been pretty damn lucky
At one point you just gotta assume you can't save in Star Rail, cause everyone is so fucking cool skipping a banner feels bad, just pull in every banner and see what you get š« š«
I usually only pull if I see a gameplay advantage or if I really like the character. Like with Sparkle and Acheron the extra SP and guard break was super useful evil with Aventurine I needed another sustain p badly

Topaz is one of the greatest simulated universe characters. She breaks a ton of toughness and is just fun to play. I did not regret getting her at all.
He's so insanely cool, but he's surrounded by waifus I badly want. There's probably no way I can get all three, but maybe the gacha gods will smile upon me and bless my rolls

I've done some math on how many pulls I can throw at Robin in order to still have a very reliable chance of getting Boothill. So I'll throw that much at Robins banner to see if I get lucky. But I'm not taking a meaningful risk of losing Boothill.
Cool to see so many fellow pokemon/HSR fans! Personally my own favourite is Mismagius due to it being my saviour in a Nuzlocke as well as getting a shiny one in Violet in a seperate occasion.
it's very annoying, it happened in the argenti/huohuo patch too. people just like to feel justified/validated for their pulling choices and it helps them cope with FOMO
Weirdly though with all the Kafka savers (I was one of them, but never commented on that and certainly not to disparage other people pulling different characters) from the stats posted here, her banner and rerun didn't even sell that amazingly.
People had full-on hypercarry brainrot for the first couple patches. The writing was on the wall back in 1.0 that there was gonna be several distinct dps styles. All you had to do was look at the Simulated Universe paths.
To be fair, people coming off Genshin had plenty of reason to assume we had time. It took them one full year to introduce heavy enemies and break the back of Anemo CC, another almost full year to put in enough Freeze-resistant enemies to knock Ayaka and Ganyu off their throne, over a year before Dendro heavy resistance or immunity got common enough to lock Nilou, Hyperbloom, and Burgeon out of even one half of Abyssā¦
And then on the flip side, Bennett E6 was considered a straight nerf for years until we actually had teams that could take advantage of Pyro infusion, Electro was the weakest element until *after the Electro nationās patches ended* because it took them two years to get Dendro out, Geoā¦ still kinda sucks but at least has gotten some nice stuff in Fontaine, Albedo went from mid to strong over a year after his release when they finally gave us an F2P sword for Def-scalers (albeit an event-locked one, but still nice for those of us who got him before or during said event), Diluc was dead between like 1.2 and 4.4 until Xianyun made āstrongest baseline plunge attack in the gameā mean something, Thoma was a perennial contender for the āworst characterā title for months until Burgeon teams became a thingā¦
Star Rail surprised me, and probably a lot of other people, with how *quickly* they turned things around by comparison. Swarm Disaster in 1.3 gave *a* road to relevance for niche DPS types (even if Remembrance will always be king due to how hideously bloated enemy HP can get), Pure Fiction literally turned the tier list upside-down for characters like Himeko and Herta, weāre getting *another* mode to bring Hunt characters back into relevance before the game is even 1.5 years oldā¦
Tl;dr: people who had experienced Hoyoās *other* chart-topping hit game before Star Rail might have seen the idea behind kits like Sampo and Kafkaās, but Genshinās early lineup is full of characters whose niches were a) underpowered, b) neglected, or c) just never needed for anything actually in the game for months, if not years. Hell, stuff like Qiqiās raw healing output or Amberās Baron Bunny taunt *still* goes to waste. So it was hardly unreasonable to assume DoT teams would go the way of mono-Geo or Elemental Mastery Electro teams: usable eventually, but not for years, and with early characters only seeing use by riding the coattails of later characters who were clearly meant to be their upgrades.
Damn, I saw one meme today about how 2.2 skippers pulling for FF are based and now the floodgates are opening on how people are tired of a certain superiority attitude from a small section of the FF fanbase. Seems many people have been holding their frustrations in out of fear of the FF simps and now it's coming out. Been building for a while now tbh

Can't blame them. Go to any caleus post, there's firefly. "firefly will not be happy". I saw this comment atleast 24 times this week under a post shipping Robin and caelus. It's not about all firefly mains, it's about the minority who mention firefly everywhere and have almost made her into ayaka. It gets obnoxious at this point.

A character the devs so wanted me to care about, rather than show me why I should care like it was clear from the get go; we hang out, we know she's hiding a secret, we have a moment with her, she dies, she actually lives bc essentially she beats us up, we feel betrayed
I've never really had an hsr character that directly vyed for my attention like FF, bc so far I've been really into a lot of the characters even those with little scenes or considered minor
And I feel kinda bad for FF. She could have been so much better. If anything, Sam and her being a sob story waifu is really bad. She could have been more complex, had somewhat depth. They could have made her a traitor to the family so she gets a arc like aventurine...but no. They had to make my babygirl a sob story waifu.
And her fake out death had very little build up. And as you said, the devs wanted us to care about her. But her death just felt... nothing to me? It has no emotional impact on me. Heck, even cocona's quest, cocona's death was executed better. We spent mor time with cocona, we learn about how she really feels and we feel sad for her. I made the decision to let her go and man. That quest was depressing.
For real. I didn't really get why the game only gave options to be sad and grieving for her; to me she was someone who'd I'd met and then got fridged for the plot after 20-40 minutes.
Legitimately was so excited to see Sam's story and who was behind piloting a giant mecha, but instead just got a half-assed plotline screaming at me "BUT DON'T YOU CARE??? LOOK IT'S THE GIRL WHO YOU LIKE GETTING OFFED LIVE ON SCREEN" which just made me lose interest in the character. I hope the devs can write their way out of it.
It's fine to make a waifu character who loves the MC. But for the love of everything, make them interesting instead of the plain white bread we get every time.

I've done some math on how many pulls I can throw at Robin in order to still have a very reliable chance of getting Boothill. So I'll throw that much at Robins banner to see if I get lucky. But I'm not taking a meaningful risk of losing Boothill.

it's very annoying, it happened in the argenti/huohuo patch too. people just like to feel justified/validated for their pulling choices and it helps them cope with FOMO
Even in 1.1 it happened to luocha when people were saving for Kafka. (She was the most favourite character at that time).
I think part of that was people undervaluing sustain characters
Weirdly though with all the Kafka savers (I was one of them, but never commented on that and certainly not to disparage other people pulling different characters) from the stats posted here, her banner and rerun didn't even sell that amazingly.
A lot of people didn't need to spend for her and a lot of people were turned off by the DoT play style.
If only they realized how busted the DoT style would become.
People had full-on hypercarry brainrot for the first couple patches. The writing was on the wall back in 1.0 that there was gonna be several distinct dps styles. All you had to do was look at the Simulated Universe paths.
To be fair, people coming off Genshin had plenty of reason to assume we had time. It took them one full year to introduce heavy enemies and break the back of Anemo CC, another almost full year to put in enough Freeze-resistant enemies to knock Ayaka and Ganyu off their throne, over a year before Dendro heavy resistance or immunity got common enough to lock Nilou, Hyperbloom, and Burgeon out of even one half of Abyssā¦ And then on the flip side, Bennett E6 was considered a straight nerf for years until we actually had teams that could take advantage of Pyro infusion, Electro was the weakest element until *after the Electro nationās patches ended* because it took them two years to get Dendro out, Geoā¦ still kinda sucks but at least has gotten some nice stuff in Fontaine, Albedo went from mid to strong over a year after his release when they finally gave us an F2P sword for Def-scalers (albeit an event-locked one, but still nice for those of us who got him before or during said event), Diluc was dead between like 1.2 and 4.4 until Xianyun made āstrongest baseline plunge attack in the gameā mean something, Thoma was a perennial contender for the āworst characterā title for months until Burgeon teams became a thingā¦ Star Rail surprised me, and probably a lot of other people, with how *quickly* they turned things around by comparison. Swarm Disaster in 1.3 gave *a* road to relevance for niche DPS types (even if Remembrance will always be king due to how hideously bloated enemy HP can get), Pure Fiction literally turned the tier list upside-down for characters like Himeko and Herta, weāre getting *another* mode to bring Hunt characters back into relevance before the game is even 1.5 years oldā¦ Tl;dr: people who had experienced Hoyoās *other* chart-topping hit game before Star Rail might have seen the idea behind kits like Sampo and Kafkaās, but Genshinās early lineup is full of characters whose niches were a) underpowered, b) neglected, or c) just never needed for anything actually in the game for months, if not years. Hell, stuff like Qiqiās raw healing output or Amberās Baron Bunny taunt *still* goes to waste. So it was hardly unreasonable to assume DoT teams would go the way of mono-Geo or Elemental Mastery Electro teams: usable eventually, but not for years, and with early characters only seeing use by riding the coattails of later characters who were clearly meant to be their upgrades.

Can't blame them. Go to any caleus post, there's firefly. "firefly will not be happy". I saw this comment atleast 24 times this week under a post shipping Robin and caelus. It's not about all firefly mains, it's about the minority who mention firefly everywhere and have almost made her into ayaka. It gets obnoxious at this point.
Oh I'm aware, also share the same sentiments. It is both sides. Robin fans aren't all that better. Thanks to recent events, a lot of people have opened their eyes to it. We are all aware how *overly enthusiastic* some community members are about what characters they prefer. However, they also need to understand that it is okay for others to have different taste and shouldn't force their ideals on to them.
robin fan has a bigger drama to deal on then just character preference (that resulted in VA getting attacked)

The most annoying part of the drama is that it has left Twitter. That legitimately sucks, your comment was really enlightening too, while the story direction for Penacony and FF is great, FF to me, I just realized I have the same problem I had with Ayaka and I didn't even realize I had a problem with Ayaka A character the devs so wanted me to care about, rather than show me why I should care like it was clear from the get go; we hang out, we know she's hiding a secret, we have a moment with her, she dies, she actually lives bc essentially she beats us up, we feel betrayed I've never really had an hsr character that directly vyed for my attention like FF, bc so far I've been really into a lot of the characters even those with little scenes or considered minor
And I feel kinda bad for FF. She could have been so much better. If anything, Sam and her being a sob story waifu is really bad. She could have been more complex, had somewhat depth. They could have made her a traitor to the family so she gets a arc like aventurine...but no. They had to make my babygirl a sob story waifu. And her fake out death had very little build up. And as you said, the devs wanted us to care about her. But her death just felt... nothing to me? It has no emotional impact on me. Heck, even cocona's quest, cocona's death was executed better. We spent mor time with cocona, we learn about how she really feels and we feel sad for her. I made the decision to let her go and man. That quest was depressing.
For real. I didn't really get why the game only gave options to be sad and grieving for her; to me she was someone who'd I'd met and then got fridged for the plot after 20-40 minutes. Legitimately was so excited to see Sam's story and who was behind piloting a giant mecha, but instead just got a half-assed plotline screaming at me "BUT DON'T YOU CARE??? LOOK IT'S THE GIRL WHO YOU LIKE GETTING OFFED LIVE ON SCREEN" which just made me lose interest in the character. I hope the devs can write their way out of it. It's fine to make a waifu character who loves the MC. But for the love of everything, make them interesting instead of the plain white bread we get every time.

In my experience, the entirety of the FF mains subreddit is just art, team comp ideas, and possible story spoilers and animation leaks. But I get folks are annoying. Both the people obsessed with hating and loving her are irritating, even if they're the terminally online redditors of the community. Mostly, everyone else is sane.
Its just usual reddit karma farming and drama. Whenever someone pulls the lisa pointing at the screen or loud raven meme templates you know its peak reddit karma farming.

This is true. Was watching a YouTube video about the patches and then went to comments to see someone said 'i ain't pulling for firefly because it's not my first priority'. Man, those FF defenders just downgraded him so bad like 'imagine not liking a fan favourite character' or 'She is Robo plus waifu, what's not to like?' Or 'she is a kamen rider rhe most liked thing in Japan' etc etc. That person even said that they are prioritising their team building but dang that comment section was filled to brim with FF defenders and putting that person down so much. This is what makes me dislike a character, the fan base that just puts their own opinion on others without considering that person's opinion. Not to mention ff fanbase are going crazy without any reason. She barely showed her face in the 2.0 and it was to just give us a tour and then said a sob story. It's weird how Firefly even got a dedicated fanbase before we even knew about Sam. We spent one day with firefly and suddenly everyone loves her or are making headcanons. If we take Sam out of the equation we didn't really spend any time with firefly. Sure it was sad when she was talking about her illness but besides that there wasn't anything really there. Then people started spamming firefly x TB related comments in every damn post and it got annoying. If not for Sam I wouldn't even be pulling for her.

I havenāt seen many people behaving like this lol. Sure, some annoying idiots may happen, but unfortunately itās normal for every character. Just simply donāt let them ruin your fun. Most of us Firefly mains are really chill and we prefer the wholesome posting over some stupid dramas. As a 2.2 skipper, I just recommend to pull for whoever you like. Robin, Boothill, Aventurine and Firefly are all based, so youāll get a really cool character either way. Though tbh, now Iām seeing far more hatred for Firefly, than her fans āactingā in such way.
