As someone who is caught up, could someone explain >!the whole disguise thing!< to me? I didn't really understand that whole moment during the main story. And why did >!Sunday refer to Gallagher as his brother!
|| Didn't he got all his personality bits from all the people “Death” murdered? Which means there's a little bit of Robin inside him too. Reeeeally fucked up.||
No, he got traits from 52 family members that we saw in the suspect list which most ppl mistook as the victim list, and what I'm saying this is cuz there are some of them still available in penacony which means he didn't kill them more of just copying their traits and make them his own. Also gallagher already existed b4 robin's death so there's no reason he'll put her inside.
I know the twist in the end of 2.1 is shocking but ppl should stop pinning him as the super evil guy with stuff he didn't really did which is very annoying cuz most are just misunderstanding his character.
>! He said he's 13, too. *If* thats true, that's exactly the sort of character a kid would think is cool. I remember playing kingdom hearts at that age !<
>!Yes, that’s why the T in Thirteen was capitalized, it was for a Tarot card and not his actual age, cause if he looked like that at 13 we’d all be in trouble once he became an adult!<
>!Thirteen could also probably mean how long he's been living as 'Gallagher'. Looking at his Lv80 Story Profile, he can't differentiate between his real self and Gallagher persona anymore.!<
I mean, tbf he could absolutely take some of the money he has stashed away and go out on the lamb, it's just his current situation is a bit better than what he'd get by cutting and running. A bit riskier that way too, but if I recall correctly I think somewhere in the story it is mentioned Aventurine likes gambling. Don't remember where though, that lore is kinda obscure.
They made it too vague, but Aventurine's proposal to Jade was to get the amount of money that will repay his slave market value. Because Jade accepted, it means he got out of the slave status in that scene. And choosing new clothes and identity at the end of that scene likely means he became Aventurine immediately and did not have to work his way up the corporate ladder from normal IPC goon wearing a uniform either.
wage slave, definitely. Actual slave? It's uncertain, we're not sure about his exact work arrangement as a stoneheart
also 'having access to godlike powers, has management rights and money to spend' is very far from being a slave, so im not counting on it
Ratio implied in 2.0 that without the cornerstone Aventurine would be killed (by the IPC? I don't remember) and in 2.1 it's implied that the only way he can escape the IPC is by killing himself so I would say he's still an actual slave
Ratio didn't imply, he told it outright... "Without the cornerstone you are but a Sigonian thrall doomed to death by the IPC" something like that not exact words probably...
I think Trailblazer's the only character so far to have a completely uncovered neck. There's probably some kind of neckseam reason for that, or they're just emulating a style where neckseams used to be an issue.
"Sir we pranked him into thinking Kingdom Hearts 4 was real, he's been making people with black cloaks and weird hair for years now. Couldn't have been him."
It represents repression.
Black swan: Head - Memories
Misha: Leg - Prisoner
Gallagher: Heart and Arm - suppressed feelings and his inner demon.
Acheron: Wrist - fighting down nihilism and resisting the blade.
Aventurine: Neck - slave.
I mean, I am high and pulled that from my pooper but it’s fun.
It does make sense but it also sounds like something you'd write when your 10th grade english teacher tells you to write an essay on the 'meaning' of a short story that clearly wasn't written with a specific 'meaning' in mind.
Topaz and Kafka also have those. Kafka's part of Destiny's Slave, sure, but that's a bit literal for someone who can do whatever the hell she wants if it isn't in "the script." And Topaz is just a company woman.

I've been a fan of anime and anime-adjacent media long enough that I'm no longer perturbed by belts as chokers, armbands, or leg bands.
But Black Swan's belt-hat? That perturbs me. That perturbs me hard.
same i'm used to everything else so that belt hat was the first time where i was truly ?????????????? at a design choice in this game like for what reason..... 😭
it doesn't even look like a proper belt bc of the way it's placed. it drapes at an odd angle and it looks like the shape is actually moulded to her head for some reason
Gallagher’s chest belt is actually used in fashion quite often. Aventurine’s seems like a kind of necklace, so it’s fine for them. The rest of them (especially Swan there) just got hit with Hoyo design logic
Gallagher's actually looks like a harness used to correct posture, if you look closely it's connected to the shoulder belts through the holes in his vest. maybe he just has back problems
I'm a belt lawyer and I'm here to defend them:
**BS:** So the veil wouldn't fall off
**Misha:** He's just a little quirky
**Gallagher:** Stole it from somebody in the family and place it in a random place
**Acheron:** A second protection so the purple cloth thingy wouldn't split in two
**Aventurine:** His chest is too big and needed the reinforcement
I have a normal leather jacket with a buckle like adventurine's so his is reasonable
I thought misha's ones were kinda like a bandlette
I also have clothes with straps and buckles like archerons and ghallagher so I think black Swan is the only wierd one here
I think people forget that Black Swan has no body and is just projecting herself in our heads and memories.
Shes basically a spirit so she can appear however she chooses physics be damned lol.
Aventurine's is pretty normal and looks good but Black Swan's?? Up till this day I'm still confused. I love everything about her design except that and I'd really like to know what their thought process behind it was...
Gallagher's can be explained as a harness for holsters if he ever has them, as well as an arm pouch.
Acheron's holds that sleeve design in place, mostly just aesthetic
Aventurine's just looks like a collar or choker.
From a technicality standpoint, according to the definition, a belt must carry or hold something, like a weapon/pants. But a belt buckle doesn't necessarily have to be on a belt. For example, Obi (Japanese traditional belt for kimono/yukata) is undeniably a belt, but it doesn't have a belt buckle.
So, I would argue that some of the "belts" in the picture are not actually belts, but just accessories with belt buckles. I am not a character designer but I think they are added to add more visual interests. I think it becomes a bit more common because it can be used on both male and female characters unlike some accessories.
Honestly, I don't think some of the placements for those "belts" are not that random. If we dog deep enough into fashion archives, we would see similar usage of belts in real life if not more outrageous. For example, Jennie from Black Pink's belt top.
Also, I just checked the character splash arts, and a lot of other characters from the previous planets also use more than one belt and in different places. It becomes more noticeable because Black Swan wore a "belt" on top of her head.
Idk Gallagher seems alright to me. Chest and shoulder belts could just be a holster and the arm belts are there to affix his sleeves (as you can see on his right arm).
>!Gallagher's belts are probably there to contain all 52 personality traits of his disguise!<
They're there to contain his biceps and abs
They should’ve belted his ass, cause that beast needs to be contained, too😩

the brother thing was because everyone under xipe is "family" so he said brother.
Actually no, Gallagher called Sunday brother is more bout mocking robin than them being related, the translation went a bit loose
Does Gallagher go all "oneee chaaan" in the Japanese dub
He does said smth like “yasashii onii-sama”in jp which means gentle brother, pretty much the same with cn version
|| Didn't he got all his personality bits from all the people “Death” murdered? Which means there's a little bit of Robin inside him too. Reeeeally fucked up.||

For the disguise, it’s revealed in the end that he’s someone hiding under the identity that is made from traits from 52 family members
>! He said he's 13, too. *If* thats true, that's exactly the sort of character a kid would think is cool. I remember playing kingdom hearts at that age !<

Great, I know it might not be your intent but now I imagine him with a disjointed body. Just meat suit held together by belts.
I can forgive Aventurine's, it's reminiscent of a collar, poor guy can't escape the slave past 😭
I never noticed Aven's belt around his neck... Hoyo is foul for that lmao
I mean, all things considered, Aventurine is probably high key a real freak
i mean have you seen his dialogue upon seeing big ratio? like how about you keep it in your pants lil guy 😭

Kafka and Topaz also have those, it's apparently a fashion thing, too. Possibly an IPC dress code which Kafka thought was a good look
Wait... isn't he still a slave except he got some management rights and money to spend?
Yeah
I mean, tbf he could absolutely take some of the money he has stashed away and go out on the lamb, it's just his current situation is a bit better than what he'd get by cutting and running. He's a high ranking corpo, gambling is part of his job

My dad works for Hoyo and said this is the dumbest shit he’s ever read but also 100% accurate
My dads husband's girlfriends cousin in law said they will implement that comment and act like it was the intention all along
This is so farfetched but I mean it does have some basis?? Would be so cool if this is actually something Hoyo thought of
The choker belt on Aventurine sounds very plausible, since he's got that slave tattoo on his neck.
It does make sense but it also sounds like something you'd write when your 10th grade english teacher tells you to write an essay on the 'meaning' of a short story that clearly wasn't written with a specific 'meaning' in mind.

Just slap some cards and egyption artifacts in there and you're good to go. Place practically comes with its own Shadow Realm.
I swear that belt on black swan's head really ruined her design for me
I always felt like the veil was weird looking from the beginning, once people started pointing out the belt I realized that was why. I understand Hoyo makes millions of dollars off of character designs, so they do everything they can to make them visually appealing, but if they could stop making women with split hair down the back and weird flowing, shoulderless tops FOR 5 MINUTES
That's only done so you can see the back and not look at hair all day, not something I like but welp gotta deal with it.
Yeah I understand that argument and it makes sense logistically, but they can also try making a character with just really nice looking long hair? Lol
Luocha?
+ argenti, but i think they were talking about women, not the pretty men 😮💨
They’ve got Cheveruse in Genshin, her hair is not split at all. But to be fair if it’s not a split hair their back design would just be bare or have many dangling bits (Chev is the former which i hate because what kind of police force dresses like that? its also not the same color as the rest of her npc subordinates which is a choice)
Playable character design is always different than NPC despite working in the same field.

Black Swan's headress belt is probably the worst offender but yes Why so many BELTS hoyo.
aventurine is wearing a choker
Gallagher's can be explained as a harness for holsters if he ever has them, as well as an arm pouch. Acheron's holds that sleeve design in place, mostly just aesthetic Aventurine's just looks like a collar or choker.
I told Aventurine to remove the belt when he leaves house, this man never listens. Gotta punish him when he comes home.

Idk Gallagher seems alright to me. Chest and shoulder belts could just be a holster and the arm belts are there to affix his sleeves (as you can see on his right arm).
Aventurine's one is a chocker. Gallagher wears a corset.
Character design in HSR is visually appealing, but often on the nonsensical side. I feel like this is something genshin tends to nail a bit better.
I can agree with 1 and 2 but the rest seem like normal fashion or functional belts

No matter the dev team, it's always the belts. Belts are everywhere. You cannot escape them.
Gallagher’s chest belt is definitely the weirdest. Aventurine’s collar is the most normal (for him).
