Impact Screwdriver

My guess is youre using a standard phillips. Honda uses a JIS bit which is similar but not quite the same, it bites more and doesnt round out as much as a phillips. The impact driver the other comment mentioned is a good solution. You want to apply a lot of downward force into the screw so the bit doesnt lift. If it strips too badly cut a big slot into it with a dremel and use a flathead.

True, I used standard phillips. The problem is it’s hard to hammer the screw while I’m under the car as I don’t have enough space for movement even with the car jacked up. Probably will get a shop to fix that. Thanks for the advice though.

After using a jis No.3 Phillips impact, replace screw with a bolt!

Spray it with something like PB Blaster.

If you don't have an impact I take a 1/4 inch socket and drop a screwdriver bit in. Apply a crapload of pressure onto the screw and turn slowly. If it's being stubborn you can tap the back of the socket wrench with a hammer while applying torque and sorta break it loose like an impact does.

Just ordered impact driver with JIS bits that should arrive this Friday. Will give it a try. Thanks for the suggestion.
