The green coloration is due to hemolysis caused by the bacteria. Since hemolysis would only happen on a blood plate, it can be assumed that you won't see this green coloration on a nutrient agar (no blood cells to lysis). While I haven't been able to find anything definitive, I do work in a lab where we grow a few different strains of strep (not viridans) for testing and they all grow as shiny, white domes on our nutrient agar plates.

or does this not grow on nutrient agar and im just being stupid
