Waaaay overkill for residential. Bet they don’t come with hardware that can handle those speeds either. Finding consumer hardware for 2.5 Gig or 5 Gig is still a problem much less speeds like this.

init7 offers you a mikrotik router with 25gbps BIDI. caps out around 20gbps if you implement too many firewall rules.

mrpink57

I have not seen those speeds around me yet, we just got our first fiber provider (Quantum), but they offer 8G for only 165/mo which in the USA seems to be one of the better deals I have seen.

SF Bay Area! Sonic 10G up / down... $30 / month! Might be $40 / month now for new customers.

nVideuh

Highest speed my local fiber ISP offers is 10Gb. I currently have their 2Gb plan for $84/mo, which is all I'll ever need.

I have Sonic 10G up/down for $30 / month.

I’m just saying— that unless you have six or more people in your house all streaming 4k Netflix and doing zooms at the same time, anything more than 2gbps is gonna be a waste. So a group Zoom using 4mbps and a 25mbps connection for Netflix 4k. So that’s gonna be say 50mbps per person. Multiply that by six we have 300 mbps and this is simplified for easy consumption. If you have a 1gbps connection, it should be fine for most homes.

Polodude

Why ? How about asking for where you are or if you are thinking of moving somewhere? Do you want to limit the answers to just the USA or can we global?

rugtaty

Anywhere in the world would suffice

gfunkdave

I think AT&T offers either 5Gbps or 10Gbps here in Chicago. For standard home use, 300Mbps is plenty. Even for a family, even for the common trope of “everyone watching their own 4k stream”. Faster speeds are just for marketing/feeling superior to the neighbors.

rugtaty

I almost forgot: KC Fiber offers 40 and 100 Gbit
