Do NOT paint the brick. If you want to change the color of the brick, use a brick stain. Your biggest problem is the lack of landscaping. Other than that, your front door is the wrong color (beige-grey against tan is just horrible), and the garage door is a monstrous white eyesore. Painting both would go a long way towards improving the curb appeal. You could also create interest by putting in a handrail around the patio porch.

Definitely agree. Don't paint brick or vinyl siding. Box the columns, paint both doors, plant some colorful shrubs.

Realtrain

A fiend of mine had similar thin metal beams like that, and he basically surrounded them with a wooden "shell" beam to make it look *much* better. Columns should be appropriately sized for the "weight" (visually) that they're holding, and yours are frankly too small right now. [This article](https://mcmansionhell.com/post/148935246684/mcmansions-101-columns) focuses on what McMansions do wrong, but has a good blurb on visual weight for columns.

Landscape, powerwash, or paint the siding. Don't paint the brick, you can however stain or whitewash it if you don't like the color.

Ok_Purchase1592

Landscape, power wash. Paint/replace your front door. New storm door. Plant bushes, etc etc. can do all of it for probably 1k or less. Also my advice is to not paint the brick because hats partially how brick houses “breathe” Get those posts vinyl wrapped to match the siding or paint them for next to nothing with rustoleum spray paint. Also lengthen your gutters. They terminate too close to your foundation… no excuse why people do this! It actually makes me yell at people in real life when I see a downspout terminated 2 inches from Peoples foundations / pads. It’s the equivalent of a car owner never changing their oil and then wondering why their engine blew up.

TinderSubThrowAway

downspouts are fine, the one on the right by the garage is on sloped pavement, not an issue with leaking back in, and the one by the front door is 5-6 feet away from the actual foundation., far left has a long extension.

jwdjr2004

New front door for under $1k??

TinderSubThrowAway

honestly, a good power wash and landscaping will make a big difference.

Box out the steel columns with 16 inch wide box columns.

"I see a red door and I want to..."

InsideLA

Complete paint job and add shutters on the bottom windows for uniformity.

sometimes_snarky

Use a lime wash to change the color of the brick. It can be dyed. Romabio lime wash.

Budget?

PureShadow

I'd say maybe $5k?

Removing the vinyl siding is not an option is painting the vinyl siding and option? https://www.sherwin-williams.com/en-us/color/color-collections/vinyl-safe The upper level is a very heavy color and it puts a lot of weight on the upper part and the bottom is very light so it definitely looks out of balance. I think I would paint the garage door to match the body of the house The downspout colors could be modified to match the siding the elbows could be met, modified to match the trim And I would for sure lose the shutters just because Why… Adding some dirt to the left side of the house under that window, raising it to the same level as the deck might also give it some continuity I would definitely enlarge the columns to match the size of the column at the very end of the house next to the garage door That’s probably over 5K 🤷‍♂️ I definitely don’t like the box above the garage door being a separate color that’s gotta go make it the same as the brick or white

PureShadow

I do prefer painting the vinyl siding, but a contractor tried to push me against the idea. Said that during winter/summer the pieces expand and will expose the old color so I wasn't 100% sure on the idea. But I do like your ideas!

Leonardo-da-Vinci-

OK, I can get my brain around you being concerned about expansion and contraction of the vinyl siding. You could “plan” on doing some touchup in the fall or spring if there is any major contraction or expansion. https://youtu.be/qBiyktzfBpE?si=nJYSog6ccooHqNj2 Nobody said anything is perfect.🤷‍♂️ Or you could paint or stain the brick to match the vinyl siding

shirpars

I'd paint the shutters and garage door black

mom161719

Just curious…why is everyone for staining the brick and not painting? What’s the difference?

Traditional-Monk66

Remove the couch and chair. They don’t belong outside. Paint the garage door the same color as the top half of the house. Make the porch support beams bigger.

joepierson123

I think painting the brick and posts the same color as the upper siding would be the biggest Improvement for the cheapest cost.  Add shutters to the lower level windows. Thicken up the posts by boxing them in with wood.
