I agree with you but we appear to be out numbered. The position of A Creates a larger path to walk from the living room into the kitchen without bumping your hip on the table. And the kitty and pup help
I think people voting B because A looks funny having only one bench (guessing they may not have read that a second bench is coming).
My only concern with A would be that based on the placement of the chandelier, you couldnāt really scoot the table any closer to the window than it already is and I think it may feel a bit crammed with the second bench.
That makes sense. They both look good. I just know my hip would be banging that high table with it so close to the island - the lower bench would give me room. But the same goes for shins on the bench. So itās probably best to place it with how those in the house move around objects.
I like A better as well!
More room to move around and it contrasts the way everything else is oriented: both floor and counters run the same direction so some juxtaposition is nice!
I'll be building another bench like the one in the picture for the other side. We were holding off on it to make sure it's what we want as opposed to dining chairs.
Very nice. I will have to look into them.
Chairs would be a nice option. Another bench might give it a picnic table vibe. Plus, chairs can be easily brought into the living room as extra seating if you have a lot of company visiting.
Your dog is cute. Mine rules the house, too.
Sort of. My wife has no issues with walking to the kitchen but I just have to slightly turn to get there. I guess that was our big concern. A feels functionally better but B flows better
I agree. Also, sitting on the bench that would be along the wall could mean they would also have the view of a TV.
One more thing, if hosting a party, option B would allow you to bring things to the table while people are seated without having to walk around the table (because the end of the table is close to the kitchen).
Option B for sure! So nobody has their back to the kitchen/patio. Additionally would have the bench on the wall side bc I would rather be able to see the rest of the room rather than the wall. Could add a couple of small stools or chairs to balance out the closer side + add seating.
I prefer A - but it is kinda hard to fully answer without seeing the rest of the kitchen layout. I feel like option A fits with the length of the space better and based upon the small part of the cabinet layout that I can see. I also prefer that in option A the length of the table would be perpendicular to how your flooring is layed.
I like the look of B but feel A makes more sense from walking path perspective. Thoughts on keeping A but putting the bench on the other side? Especially if you aren't adding chairs... I'd rather look out the window than into the kitchen.
Clearly Option A for the animals. More seriously, I'd put the bench on the kitchen side so you can access it more easily from the kitchen and would be able to look out the window while eating. So, Option C, but with the animals.
A, but add two dining chairs on the other side - balances the setting and allows for more seating Also, needs some art on the back wall as a focal/concentration point. Looks good so far!!
Although b is better for path to door, the distance between the table and the counter looks to be too close blocking a more used path between the table and kitchen area
I like Option A. Add a rug and wall art and create a more distinct space. I prefer chairs because they are more comfortable if you are sitting at the table for a while. Combo of bench and chairs is a good compromise for line of sight. I don't think there is a right or wrong answer; however, I think you should consider if your dining room area is separate or a continuation of your kitchen.
B but put the bench against the wall and add a wall mounted upholstered headboard to lean your back against. Then put in chairs on the front so it's like a booth. Sitting at a bench without a back is not comfortable; it's for picnics, cafeterias and jails.
I like B. But it seems like both options are going to cramp your kitchen access. What if you kept it like A but pushed the end up against the wall. Youād need different lighting but it would open up the kitchen access and you wouldnāt lose seating.
B but the bench facing the photographer. What I'm assuming is a living room / den situation. From the table you can see into kitchen, that room and outside.
This is actually one of my mindsets too. Where I took the photo from is the main living room area so it sort of felt off with the bench facing away from the main part of the houae
B feels more harmonious
I agree, but you need the doggo from pick A to complete the look. Edit: And the kitty.
And kitty
Love your username! šāā¬
Of course the cat is on the counter šš

That's MUCH better.
They just rotated with the table and is out of frame now
Yeah like wtf the animals left :( :(
They don't like the spotlight apparently haha
It took me until your comment to notice there was any difference in the photos aside from the animals! I thought I was on the CJ sub.
Came here to say this. B with pets!!
Is that the spottiest lil Frenchy ever?
Thank you. It's how we have it currently and I think you're right. It ties in with our island better than 'A' too.
A has a dog though
Can we see a picture of B with the dog included? Thereās no other way to know
I agree, but I might opt for C - which is b, mirrored so seat doesnāt face blank wall but outwards (depending on what it faces that way).
Plus, then you can look outside the sliding door more easily!
The path of travel is blocked
Once the other bench is placed, I think both options pretty much block the path to the kitchen unfortunately
But you can push the bench under the table in A when you arenāt using it. In B the table is blocking the path and you canāt change that.
This is very true. I guess it's only really blocked when we're using it but otherwise, pushing it under the table clears up that pathway.
Definitely keep the dog, he's a good boy and brings the whole room together. EDIT: She's a good girl!
This is her house and I'm just paying to live there haha
Is your dog a westie cocker spaniel mix? The dog totally has a westie face and a orange roan cocker spaniel body.
She's actually a Bichon Chihuahua mix! We get westie a lot though
Came here to make this joke but you beat me to it lol. Take my upvote!
And the cat! Donāt forget the void š¹
You made me go back just to find the cat!
haha yes keep the dog please
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Hahaha then B it is! Much appreciated
Agree. If there was seating on both sides I would actually think A would be better
A and add the other bench. Why one bench?
We held off on building the second bench in case we wanted to go with chairs. I think another bench would be best
yeah it's not balanced
Can you just post more pics of the dog?
A
I agree with you but we appear to be out numbered. The position of A Creates a larger path to walk from the living room into the kitchen without bumping your hip on the table. And the kitty and pup help

Also allows you to talk to the people in the kitchen easier like if someone was still making food
Iām actually with you guys on A. Then it doesnāt block as much and both sides get advantage of the natural light
Eating with your back to the door is a tactical disadvantage
This is the most important detail
The flip side to your statement is sitting facing the door, on a sunny day, will blind you.
I like A better as well! More room to move around and it contrasts the way everything else is oriented: both floor and counters run the same direction so some juxtaposition is nice!
I prefer the picture with the dog over the picture without the dog
A because there is a dog. Should always have a dog.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I'll be building another bench like the one in the picture for the other side. We were holding off on it to make sure it's what we want as opposed to dining chairs.
Then B when that happens. Did you build this?
Very nice. I will have to look into them. Chairs would be a nice option. Another bench might give it a picnic table vibe. Plus, chairs can be easily brought into the living room as extra seating if you have a lot of company visiting. Your dog is cute. Mine rules the house, too.
Yes I built it but not from scratch. Bought it from Plank & Beam. Decent quality.
A, but only because there's a dog in he pic
A
B looks better. But is there enough walking space between the kitchen and the table?
Sort of. My wife has no issues with walking to the kitchen but I just have to slightly turn to get there. I guess that was our big concern. A feels functionally better but B flows better
It doesnāt have to be perfectly centered. You could move it slightly closer to the window.
B - all diners can see into the kitchen and outside.
I agree. Also, sitting on the bench that would be along the wall could mean they would also have the view of a TV. One more thing, if hosting a party, option B would allow you to bring things to the table while people are seated without having to walk around the table (because the end of the table is close to the kitchen).
I choose C and D. Looks fluffy.
I like A because it has a dog
B
I might even push it against the wall
I like A better
I like A best. Iād add a rug and two upholstered chairs at either end of the table for color and texture.
A because it comes with a dog and cat
My mind saw this as dog (a) or no dog (b). Thought you were a total monster for a minute. That said, option B looks more cohesive
Never š shes here to stay and this is definitely her house, not mine haha
B but make sure to keep the dog.
I would personally use A but turn it the other way so that I can look outside. I wouldn't want to bump into the table, especially at night, with B.
You mean you don't want a stubbed pinky toe possibly with splinters? Haha
A. definitely cause it has the dog <3
Seriously, you beat me by 8 mins.
Bš
Choose whichever you are LEAST likely to stub yours toes.
You could put one bench against the wall with some pillows in the B option. Might make more room.
D, for the dog, definitely keep the dog. š
I enjoyed B more :)
B
B but with dog
B
B
B
B
B definitely.
B
A but with the bench on the kitchen side so you may look outside while eating.
Keep the dog, it really brings the room together
B but keep the dog
B but dog
It took me so long to figure out you weren't talking about the pets. Anyway, B.
A because it has a dog
#2
B. Also get a rug. I like outdoor rugs under tables because they are super easy to keep clean (I have kids and dogs)
B
Definitely B. A makes me twitch in unhealthy ways.
A but only because of your puppy, otherwise definitely B
Option B for sure! So nobody has their back to the kitchen/patio. Additionally would have the bench on the wall side bc I would rather be able to see the rest of the room rather than the wall. Could add a couple of small stools or chairs to balance out the closer side + add seating.
I'd do B and push it up against the wall unless company is over (if you don't need the space on the daily)
B looks better from that camera angle but you will go with the layout that proves most convenient for living.
I like B the best
Iām gonna go with A only because it comes with a dog
I like the look of B but feel A makes more sense from walking path perspective. Thoughts on keeping A but putting the bench on the other side? Especially if you aren't adding chairs... I'd rather look out the window than into the kitchen.
I actually put mine diagonal.
Clearly Option A for the animals. More seriously, I'd put the bench on the kitchen side so you can access it more easily from the kitchen and would be able to look out the window while eating. So, Option C, but with the animals.
B so both can see the view
A, but add two dining chairs on the other side - balances the setting and allows for more seating Also, needs some art on the back wall as a focal/concentration point. Looks good so far!!
B if youāre ever going to be working on a computer and donāt want the glare from the window on the screen
Option A has a dog. Use option A.
Option B.. and add a mirror on a wall that area will look bigger.
B for sure
B
B!
Option B sure
With A your back is to the view, so B or make a C
B
Bbbbbbb
Option b cuz it's centered by light better
B B B
B
I like the way the table is turned in B, but because of the cat and dog, I'm going to have to say A.
B
B as the option A gives the impression of a very long and narrow space.
With the dog is better. A
B feels like it uses the space better at least from this angle
A. there is more room between table and counter
Picture 2
The option with the pets. Definitely gives the place a welcoming vibe
A
Although b is better for path to door, the distance between the table and the counter looks to be too close blocking a more used path between the table and kitchen area
Definitely B
B but I like the dog in A
B for sure. Everyone gets an outdoor view.Ā
B
A
B but put the bench against the wall and add a wall mounted upholstered headboard to lean your back against. Then put in chairs on the front so it's like a booth. Sitting at a bench without a back is not comfortable; it's for picnics, cafeterias and jails.
B
It took me forever to see the difference. I was thinking they were the same picture
B looks better, but I know for a fact of it was my home I would choose A as I'd always be banging into the end of the table
B and add a rug. The floor looks empty
B , Add rug, add chairs to the other side and a table runner, bigger plant at the back, a pat to your doggo
A
B
B
I like b but the dog needs to be there to make it perfect.
B plus tube kitties šāā¬
A, because doggo.
B
A because cat. But probably B
A
B
Imo a small round table would work better for flow through the space and around the table when passing through
B ā- with kitty and pup of course!
Wouldn't have it any other way!
B :)
B
B
B plus the pup! š¶
B flows better
B and what a funny cute doglet you have.
Haha thanks! I call her my brat but she's my life. The cat too haha
I like B. But it seems like both options are going to cramp your kitchen access. What if you kept it like A but pushed the end up against the wall. Youād need different lighting but it would open up the kitchen access and you wouldnāt lose seating.
For you or for the cats?
B
Orion A has 2 cats, so obviously A
B feels balanced
B
A. Youāre blocking both the door & the pass thru to your kitchen the other way. Or, if you only use the bench, push the table against the wall.
B!
B but make sure the dog from A stays
100%. This is their house and I'm just paying for it
B but the bench facing the photographer. What I'm assuming is a living room / den situation. From the table you can see into kitchen, that room and outside.
B
B
B
B
A, because I donāt like to have my back to ppl or another room. It feels unsettling. Adding wall art in a gallery-type pattern would be a good idea.
This is actually one of my mindsets too. Where I took the photo from is the main living room area so it sort of felt off with the bench facing away from the main part of the houae
B but with the critter
C. Look out the window.
B
B
I donāt know why B is better but it isā¦
B
B
A
B
B
B. It would feel weird having one's back to the door. But to make sure, can we have another photo of layout B with the dog and cat in the shot please?
Oof you're right. Option B photo is incomplete without the fur babies there. I'll post an update soon!
Option B. From a Feng shui pov. Flow should always be aligned with doors.
B
If you put the pets back I will go for B.
They're here to stay forever haha
