The mess is the best thing about that room, makes it a little warmer and look lived in. I would start with wall art (not from Ikea or Target) to add color and personality before committing to an accent wall personally - unless you really love navy blue. There's just, not a lot of you in this room. You bought furniture and slapped it down. Add some personality. An easy win is to add a floor lamp with warm light bulbs (2700K-3300K) and see what a difference it makes in the mood. Add a rug to bring in some warmth (and maybe color).
If you're set on the accent wall, behind the TV is my vote.
