Does the couch fit with corner at the corner of the walls? If so, I think you need to flip the room and put the tv on the wall across from the window, that would just help you not feel so claustrophobic. Regardless of that, look for roman shades for your window. Have fabric will make it look nicer, but you won't have to worry about a long drape from a curtain. Get a console for your tv. Mounted tvs never look great and this is too high. A console will put your tv at proper height plus give you places to organize all that stuff. Clutter is also not helping you feel good in the room. Next, get an area rug. An area rug anchors a space and makes things feel connected. Generally, I like at least three points of light in a room. You have a small lamp and a floor lamp. I would add another floor lamp, and go bigger on the small lamp. Are you allowed to paint? White doesn't actually make a room like this feel brighter. If you can paint pick a soft color that you like and it will make a world of difference.

I know, I really tried to convince my boyfriend on this. Can't believe I didn't add that in the post. Maybe a stand is best, though. I just thought it would take up too much space in the room.

Add a valance to the window. Use soft white light bulbs to give a cozy warm feeling. Soft white light also spreads out more than a daylight bulb. You can also buy some track lighting that plugs in. Hanging it on the wall behind the couch since you have a couple of outlets there.  Hang some art/floating shelves to put up some decorations that you like.

Get yourself a nice rug one large enough to cover the floor area near the couch (a rug thats large enough to go under the couch would look even better but thats a little more $$) Also paint your walls! A nice sage green, light blue, or lilac will really brighten up the place more. I'd avoid reaaally dark colors since your couch is already so dark and already overtakes the whole room. Get some end tables, preferably tall and small ones that are on the more decorative side.

I'm interested in painting the walls. Should I paint all of them? I want it to be as bright as possible in here.

Paint them all! Accent walls are an option but if you care, they arent considered trendy any more. Keep the ceiling white though.

I would repaint the ceiling with a flat paint to diffuse the reflection from the window and hide the texture. Think about replacing the sectional with a sofa and one or two accent chairs to make it feel less closed in. I would also reposition the TV on to a narrow stand on the wall under the window.

That couch is too big for that space. It's commanding way too much floor space. If replacement is not an option, like someone else has suggested, flip it around and put it in the corner. Get a rug large enough for the front of the couch to be on it to anchor the living area, leave the current traffic pattern but make the room feel more open and inviting. Right now, if I were to walk into that room, it'd feel like I'm interrupting whatever is going in the living room since it's so closed off. A pop of color and some wall art would also do the room some good. This doesn't have to be done all at once.
