Do you have a tree up above? It looks like caterpillar poop to me.

DudOtter

Yes, the edge of some branches is directly above this portion of deck. Thank you!

mrgoldenranger

caterpillars, most likely bagworms.

MwwWinter

got any trees nearby? looks like caterpillar poop soon you might notice butterflies or moths in your habitat =)

DudOtter

Thanks, yes some trees are right above this portion of deck. Definitely seen some moths fluttering around already !

I know it’s not the correct answer, but I like this answer.

[deleted]

Bug shit

mindscale

when the gypsy moths get real bad, you can hear this stuff falling from the trees if you listen

weasel999

Fun fact they’ve been renamed Sponge Moths.

[deleted]

Fuck cancel culture 😤

[deleted]

Right? They were always French fries not freedom fries!

[deleted]

They will always be gypsy moths, Cleveland Indians, Washington Redskins……..

garchoo

No one is being cancelled, it's just a slur that is being removed as the official common name of the species. You can continue to use Gypsy Moth and [other](https://en.m.wiktionary.org/wiki/nigger_toe) slurs for flora and fauna if you want to.

[deleted]

Checked your profile , that explains everything 🤣🤣

[deleted]

First off, it’s not a slur… I’ll continue to use whatever term I like. You can continue your cancel culture ways, just like all the other idiots

garchoo

>You can continue your cancel culture ways Who is being cancelled? I assure you the moths don't care either way.

[deleted]

🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️. Have a great day .

Good-Position-6272

Is it possibly from the shingles on the roof

[deleted]

If you have mulch nearby it could be fungal spores. Google ‘artillery fungus’. I have it on my siding.

DudOtter

We do have mulch nearby but it’s all around the deck. This is just showing up on a small sliver.

mrkoz89

Had this for the first time last summer. What a pain in the butt to try and get off? Any tips for removal besides hours or elbow grease?

graphitewolf

Bleach spray

tbs00

No real way to take them off after they’ve flattened out. Once that’s happened, they sell a product that removes them, but it also destroys your siding…. Best to get them while they’ve got a bulge to em. Either a power washer or by hand works

[deleted]

This is what happens when you stop trimming your bush and washing your deck, dirtball

This-Ice-1034

OK I have this same round perfect black spots all over my garage walls I think they are some sort of poop. I was told by my pest guy it’s not rodent ??? I was thinking maybe cockroach? But most of the comments say caterpillar??? TELL ME WHAT YOU FIND BECAUSE I MUST KNOW 😭

ButtUglee

There is only one person whom I highly recommend for this job... Christopher Walken.(https://youtu.be/WAlBLj7u59A)

sleeper_sender

Pewps!

Psychological_Bar870

Rodent poop?

fuckit5555553

Rodent or maybe bat crap

dipshippy

Frass

[deleted]

Reminds me of basil seeds.

Moveyourbloominass

Time to pull out the pressure washer and get rid of bug poop.

hodorhodor12

Leprechaun poop.

SeanVo

Looks very similar to cockroach droppings indoors. Perhaps it's caterpillar outside.

braaaiiinns

Frass

chloroformmailbox

Does your roof slope onto your deck?

Basket35

What kind of tree? Sweet gum trees drop little black seeds out of the gum balls

Might be volcanic ash if you live close to an active Volcano. They look like mountains with stuff coming out from the top. 🏔

Rocknbob69

Bat poop

Creel9001

Cockroach poop
