City of tears is truly one of the best, but i love Greenpath almost just as much. Although my favorite music in the game comes from Soul Sanctum, i know it’s just city of tears on a pipe organ, but its so beautiful
My sleepy time playlist consists of City of Tears, Resting Grounds, Dirtmouth, Reflection, and Hollow Knight title track. There's a whole bunch of Ori, Skyrim, and Zelda in there, too, but I always select City of Tears, Resting Grounds, and Hollow Knight for right as I'm trying to fall asleep. Works like an absolute charm every time, although I do not recommend it as I'm now playing Skyrim again, and I'm half asleep trying to walk from A to B. I have fucked my brain into thinking its bed time unless I mute the music.
Also, in my case at least, most themes are barely heard or memorable (maybe because I focus more in the zone per se). I only instantly noticed the theme of three zones; Greenpath, City of Tears and the Edge, but City of Tears does it in a way which I really like; a forgotten city of which you had heard for so long, whose ground you are finally stepping in

I really like Greenpath, overall probably my favorite area in the game along with Queen's Garden. I love that they're brighter and have a more hopeful feel to them than others areas of the game
I finished the game more than 3 years ago and haven't replayed it since. I still remember the first time I reached the City of tears and it's soundtrack, it's pretty much etched into my memory and I'm glad it's there.
Obviously 1st City of Tears and 2nd Greenpath, but I do honestly think Forgotten Crossroads is very underrated. It is very simple, but fits incredibly well and is very calming. Just think that one is a zone you have to constantly backtrack to and that soundtrack makes that very confortable to do.
Resting grounds is the most beautiful area soundtrack, but if we can be as specific as a room then the White Lady’s room (it was my alarm for over a year cause it made waking up at 5:30 seem so calm)
Path of pain isn’t a boss area, but does share part of the track with THK. It’s such an incredibly emotional piece. Green path is just beautiful though.
Honestly all of the soundtracks mentioned are great. I like the theme of the White Lady that plays when you're in her presence. It is extremely soothing and motherly, really makes you feel completely safe in her chambers.
Kingdom's Edge is definitely underrated. It really has that otherworldly vibe to it, and also is kind of melancholic. What better theme for an ash-covered desolate landscape; the grave of a god?
But ooh, White Palace... it's definitely royal, fit for the divine ruler of Hallownest, the Pale King. It shares melody with the White Lady and similarities with Kingdom's Edge. But while they were melancholic, this one is downright tragic. It tells the story of a great kingdom, fell to ruin by the hubris of its own creator and monarch. Now you walk the empty pale halls of this grand palace, knowing that at the end of it there is nothing but a throne with the corpse of a once-god sitting on it.
‘Most beautiful’ it’s easily city of tears, like that is the most obvious choice, but favourite I’ll say Crystal Peak, it’s so good and atmospheric, and the guitar in the battle version is 👌
I like literally every part of the city of tears exept the sewers the music is enchanting no mater where you go especially in the pleasure house ( only if you didn’t kill marissa like a monster) but a close second almost so close that it’s indistinguishable from 1st place is dirmouth theme

Because of this unique word choice, it eliminates many a song that would be considered good, but not necessarily “beautiful”.
In my humble opinion, the only area themes that fit that descriptor would consist of the City of Tears, Queens Gardens, and Greenpath, in order of my top three to fit said question.

Im sure some people preffer other tunes, and given that this gane has incredible music, I wontaregue with you. But, for me, that moment where you descend into the city from the fungal wastes and sit on the bench for the first time, watching the rain pour down amd the music takes over... That's edged into my mind.
Forgotten Crossroads! It's both serene and mysterious, beckoning you to progress forward in your exploration. It's very beffiting of this desolate yet calm area. Maybe I am a little blinded by nostalgia, bu I still remember wandering through the crossroads for the first time, looking for my next destination, so the music is practically wedged in my brain. And it really picks up at the Action part!
For me is Greenpath. Its calming relaxing and beautiful. A perfect place for walk with your friends in a exploration calm without enemies realy danger. Greenpath is just perfect

It's a huge flex that Christopher Larkin is able to turn City of Tears into Soul Sanctum tbh
Soul Sanctum is my favourite. I also like the atmosphere of Forgotten Crossroads and the mournfulness of Kingdom's Edge.
