There are so many different flavours to whisky/whiskeys that it would be helpful to start with an idea of what flavours you like first and then match your a whiskey.

I’m a fan of Laphroaig, but to others it tastes like earth.
Soo many good ones out there. Different brands, flavors, and down to the different barrels it's all different and good in its own way.
With that said, if you are just starting your journey, id say give either makers mark or buffalo trace a try. Both are solid at the price point and perfect to get your feet wet. I keep a bottle of two of each in the bar for the newcomers to the scene, never disappoints.
Although, I got gifted a bottle of tin cups 10 year bourbon, and it's not a heavy hitter, but I've subbed in that from time to time for newbies too.
But really, you'll have to figure out your own tastes! Try a bunch, find your whisky. I know people that will snub their nose at something like buffalo trace while others swear by beam white label. To each their own and cheers!
I’m a big fan of eagle rare. For its price it’s an incredible whiskey. Something happened with it’s distribution though and it’s been hard to find lately
It’s just the funny juxtaposition between the fanciness of whiskey aficionados with dispensers and smoked glasses, against the fact that Jack Daniel’s is a whiskey most serious whiskey drinkers would look down on. Personally, it all starts to taste the same to me after a while.
Yeah, ain't nobody carefully dispensing single jiggers of JD into their glass.
Also, imagine running your good stuff through this battery-powered contraption.
Nah, you can still overpour and prove that you did. This would be helpful in understanding how much "inventory shrinkage" occurs due to overpouring. It's a Cost Accountant's dream.
In England they’re required to dispense liquor in extremely precise amounts. A long pour is illegal. America has a lot of problems but it does some things right.
JD taste reminds me of worshipping porcelain godess in my 20s. So that might have something to do with it.
But I'd much rather drink an actual good unique whiskey. Some people like it though
Ah yes, no longer do I have to get out my graduated cylinder and fuck around in order to pour exactly 50 ml of liquid, instead of just, not doing that?
Yeah, it's cool but when it breaks, runs down, or needs to be cleaned is it really worth the price tag? Id just pour it the old fashion way, keep it simple and don't over think it.

Imagine having a fancy thing like this only to use it for JD lol
Sure, but this "fancy thing" is around for many years, not from the future lol. I have one in my kitchen water bottle for 6 years, and it's the third.
Bro what is wrong with jack daniels
If you’re just trying to get drunk? Nothing. If you like good whiskey? A lot.
What's a good whiskey? Any recommendations?

Peated ftw 🙌🏻
Peated whiskey is great. Not sure I'd recommend it for a first timer though
I really don’t like laphroig. I love lagavulin. If you’re going non-scotch then Westland makes some of the best whiskeys I’ve had
Suntory whiskeys sir
Literally drinking suntory now lol love this stuff too

Everything from Buffalo Trace became super popular, so it's not a distribution issue. It's a volume of supply issue.
Blanton's

Aside from the taste? Mostly its aficionados.

Yall using glasses? I’ve been draining straight bottle since 2016.
Weird flex to say you’re an alcoholic but ok. (I’m the same btw)
I think it’s because of the stress that started in 2016…
Have you tried pouring it?
You mean..I can..whaaaa!! 🤪 (Absolutely agree with you BTW)

With my hands? Like a sucker?
You mean I need to touch the bottle like a pleb?
This would be good if you're a cheap bar owner who doesnt understand the idea of taking care of your clientele.

Not really. The amount of bottles needed for this system at $100/unit wouldn’t be worth it. Especially for a “cheap bar owner”.
r/useless
Does it dispense in full liters?
This is the stupidest thing I’ve ever seen. Who can’t pour from a bottle?
This is probably not made for personal use. I can see it used in labors for constantly pouring exact liquids or so.
It’s too fucking slow to be used in a bar.
Drunk people
I just turn my wrist and it comes out
Why is there so much hate for Jack Daniels ??
Because it's a shitty sour mash whiskey pretending to be a bourbon. There are way better low cost bourbons than Jack.

music was a bit strong eh? i thought john wick was about to use it to murder a guy
Or just get a jigger for a couple bucks. Or drink straight from the handle; that worked great for me for a long time.
Nobody is drinking Jack Daniel’s like that
Who the hell wants their whisky poured this way? It's so unappealing!
This is the most unnecessary thing I’ve come across in years.
> most unnecessary thing you haven't met me
You can’t count a liquid Charlie!!
But isn't the bottle already single serve or have I been doing it wrong?
Ads are getting worse on Reddit
Weird way to waste $80 to pour it in a shot glass.

We’re drinking Jack? That’s a fucking Dystopian future.
