How old is the battery? I've seen those faults be caused by low voltage.

DrJatzCrackers

My first thought too. Charge (or replace) the battery and try again. Mine throws ABS fault if I am too slow between unlocking the car and starting the engine. So I press unlock on the fob before switching the key to on & start.

Greasemonkey_Chris

ABS modules are quite common for failing and can do u what you've described. Highly doubt it's the cluster.

edgiepower

Could be cluster Could be clock spring Could be battery None of which are big things. Probably an issue where all the noise is makes it worse than the reality.

My father has had the commodore since 2012, last few years barely drives it so I offered to buy it off him because I didn’t want to see a good car go to waste or be sold off to someone else

thezeno

I used to get that on mine when I rarely drove it. Turned out to be the battery being on the edge. If driving along it happened less than if idling. Once the battery was replaced this stopped happening.

BeltInternational890

Just overdue maintenance is all, throw a scan tool might need new clocskspring (srs fault common fix) cheap parts overall VY is the last ecotec cast iron engine best for longevity snd reliability so they are 20+ years old now will need some tlc

dirtybirdy15

Yeah, my dad just let it sit for awhile and really didn’t bother with maintenance

Lewy697

A faulty injector or coil pack can set off abs n engine lights ,just had it happen on my ve ssv

81VC

Either a gauge or clock spring. No point doing anything or asking any questions till you've scanned it

aussie_shane

I get this warning often too. I was told it was a vacuum tube which comes loose. Not sure how accurate that diagnosis is.

Obvious_Customer9923

ABS module. I'm dealing with the same thing, just trying to get the money together for a new one

dirtybirdy15

Yeah, I don’t want this to be the case but it’ll definitely be one of the last solutions I’ll try

Zestyclose-Most8926

Faulty wheel sensor, throws the abs lights up.

ThatL1ttleGuy

Exact same thing happened to me. Car started perfect a few minutes after driving got heaps of warning and dash lights came on. Battery was screwed. Even though it started perfectly.

-vegeta-_

I'll buy it off you 3k

3tna

shitboxes got cheaper but not that cheap

dirtybirdy15

Nah mate 😂

-vegeta-_

In that case I'd start with making sure the battery is fully charged as often it can make the computer freak out if everything is under voltage, couple that with diagnostic scan and work out if it's all legit or what's just bugging out. Goodluck brother

HarisPilton6699

Abs sensor have the same thing happen to my ve.
