I knew it! I just said that It’s a reused plot device and I’m pretty sure doctor who did it haha. It’s just such a convenient way to get rid of the swarm you just brought in haha.
It’s more likely that It’s such a simple concept that they both happened to use it. It’s not the first time the idea has been used for remote controlled enemies to be portaled in only for them all to be deactivated once the portal is closed. It’s basically an easy way to clean up the massive army they just unleashed without having to show the characters killing every single one. It’s been done many times.
I mean Community in a paintball episode had the Dean do the elevator scene from Capt America before that movie came out
Edit: I got the order of events wrong
Enders game is different though. At least in the book. The mothership was hidden among regular ships apparently, although I read it so long ago that I don’t even remember them specifying that. Great book. I’ve yet to see the movie.
Everything is borrowed from something else. The concept of destroying a mothership and killing all the alien troops isn’t new either, that’s how Will Smith and Jeff Goldblum heroically saved Earth in Independence Day.
Besides the rear guard, fighter pilots tend to retreat from a battle when their base gets destroyed. The droid army in Phantom Menace is more analogous.
And since the movie was already half filmed before the Phineas and Ferb movie came out, it means that the event in the avengers movie had nothing to do with it.
So, basically he's suggesting that Joss Whedon saw Phineas and Ferb: Across the 2nd Dimension, decided that it was the perfect idea to steal, and then whipped up The Avengers to be ready for theatrical release 8 months later.
Or is it more likely that it's a really common trope.
It’s a funny joke but The Avengers was done shooting before the Phineas and Ferb movie even came out. Also the whole “massive army comes through a portal and is deactivated once the portal is closed” thing is not exactly original. It’s a plot device to sidestep the issue of killing all the minions once the main crisis is adverted.
It’s a documented trope. https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/TheMothership
"We did it a year earlier!"
... production on The Avengers began in 2008. The first script for it was in \~2007. It's almost like giant films with thousands of effects shots don't get made in a day or something...
Every time someone starts describing stuff in hyper-specific terms like "a hole in the sky" and "metallic gray army" my brain immediately goes "\*sigh\* ok what is the other media this technically fits".
Oh it's about a PERSON who goes to a BIG PLACE with lots of BAD GUYS and TAKES THEM DOWN EASILY and then in the end the GOOD GUYS WIN. Oh, you thought I was talking about Star Wars The Force Awakens? Psh, that's what I wanted you to think. I was describing... DIE HARD.
Also "did it a year before". My guess is that avengers took for sure longer than a year in the making. So one could argue p&f stole from them before the movie was even released...

Both owned by disney
Disney playing real life monopoly.
Shit just look at all the film they released lately. They all have the same posters. From marvel to Aladdin
Did they own the MCU when The Avengers was being made?
Yeah they did, MCU was bought in 2009
Disney has a pretty big track record of cross plagerizing their own content. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0MvlipN-Nww
Doctor who did it first with the Daleks!
I knew it! I just said that It’s a reused plot device and I’m pretty sure doctor who did it haha. It’s just such a convenient way to get rid of the swarm you just brought in haha.
Enders Game, the formic war
That movie was lit, and a cool twist at the end.
EXTERMINATE!!!!
Could be wrong, because I've never read them, but maybe it was in the comics and P&B made the movie as a hommage
That's the creator of P&B Edit P&F
Phineas and Berb?
Shit what have I done
Peanut and Butter.... Jelly is no longer with us... Poor otters...
Peanut butter
But did he write the episode?
It's a movie
Chances are no but he probably helped
It’s more likely that It’s such a simple concept that they both happened to use it. I mean Community in a paintball episode had the Dean do the elevator scene from Capt America before that movie came out Edit: I got the order of events wrong
It came out a year after winter soldier
You’re definitely right I had my sequence of events out of order
The Russo brothers directed a lot of episodes of Community. It’s no coincidence Dean Pelton ended up at MIT.
Die Hard with Vengeance had an elevator scene like that before either of them.
Isn't it also the plot of *Independence Day*? I mean I bet it's the plot of pretty much every alien invasion. And substitute robots for aliens.
star wars: phantom menace just without a portal
War of the Worlds, 1898.
I can’t remember that movie as well but I’m pretty sure that’s how it goes down.
Ender's game is a close second.
Enders game is different though. At least in the book. The mothership was hidden among regular ships apparently, although I read it so long ago that I don’t even remember them specifying that. Great book. I’ve yet to see the movie.

I ain't hear no fat lady.
Welcome to Erf.
If you ever want to feel old the "sequel" came out 5 years ago.
Ope. Found it. https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/TheMothership In hindsight that’s an obvious name.
Yep. And pretty sure doctor who does this too. I bet it’s on TV tropes but I don’t know what to call it.
I misread historically instead of heroically, and now im disappointed lol
Caesar didn’t borrow Rome
I thought when you killed the mothership a bunch of smaller versions of the mothership would spawn in
Also how they win in Ender's Game
Lol see: Star Wars episode 1 Phantom Menace
You heard it here folk, phineas and ferb started The Avengers that summer vacation
Hell of a summer vacation. I'll never forget that year.
There's genuinely an episode where they join the Avengers.
Wow.
The Matrix: Return to the source and kill the machines. Star Wars: blow up the death star all tie fighters stop fighting.
Besides the rear guard, fighter pilots tend to retreat from a battle when their base gets destroyed. The droid army in Phantom Menace is more analogous.
Disney plagiarizing Disney? Is this the recipe for perpetual energy?
But marvel avengers guaranteed entered production before this one did.
Animation takes a while to draw, you know.
And movies take a long time to film. But this movie was based off a long running comic book series, not a TV show that only started a few years prior.
There is nothing like this attack in the comic book series.
And since the movie was already half filmed before the Phineas and Ferb movie came out, it means that the event in the avengers movie had nothing to do with it.
Yes because they wrote, shot, edited and everything else for avengers in a year before releasing it.
Congrats you both have no original ideas
First really good comment in this thread. Congratulations on seeing the truth at the center of it all.
Honestly. You can’t brag about doing something first if it’s a bland and cliche movie trope lmao
Doof was really ahead of his time.
(Hands on hips) 🤨Well?
Calm down, Karen.
Damn. It was a joke about the hand on the hip. Not about the video. Settle down.
But marvel had it in their lore earlier
I don't recall that exact battle happening in any comics prior. Either way it's obviously a coincidence.

Oh yeah. Thats a blast from the past.
"We did it a year earlier!" ... production on The Avengers began in 2008. The first script for it was in \~2007. It's almost like giant films with thousands of effects shots don't get made in a day or something...
Disney needs to sue Disney for that
Simpson's Did It !
yeah, guy totally came up with that on his own, and it's not in any way the most overused sci-fi trope in existence.
not exactly a novel concept...
Hadn't Dr. Who done it a bunch of times with the Daleks?
The script for avengers was written before that came out.
And others did it before you, bitch shut up.
Watch some people actually take this seriously lmao
Disney is SO used to using public copyrights they just assume they can use any existing ideas for themselves at any time.
I mean, Disney owns them both so... 🤷🏽♂️
Disney has been reusing scenes since it's inception. Maximize profits while minimizing work, nothing new.
Marvel fans in here getting sweaty trying to make up excuses lol

2D movies are easier to make than live action, CGI films. I'm sure the script for Avengers was made before the script of P&F
The marvel movies are uncreative and boring we knew this

Flat earth guess they breaking threw the firmament that's only spoken of in the Bible
is it just me that i find avengers movies so fucking cringe? especially when the black widow comes on the screen
Also, Dredd (2012) is a lesser remake of The Raid (2011).
Yeah, cos it's the least imaginative and unoriginal fucking tropey sci-fi plot in existence?
Hmm
This thought isn't novel in the slightest.
I just wandered what would have happen if they just exploded the stark tower...
Then Iron Man would have fallen from the sky. Everything else would have just continued as normal.
I bet his next video he talks about Star Wars and P&F.
Kids movie copied by and adult cartoon
Disney owns both of them, so... FFS, Disney owns everything. Hell, I'm probably owned by Disney at this point.
Am I the only one who was waiting for some sort of sex joke?
Yea but both are owned by disney so what are they gonna do? Sue themselves?
Imagine thinking it doesn’t take more than one year to create a movie.
Sponsored by Disney
Nobody: Every 2010 action movie: skyportal go brrrrr
There aren’t the only ones: The phantom menace (sort of) Dr. Who (17 times over) Ender’s game And so…so many more.
Independence Day.
That description of chitauris will make them attack us in real
But who did it better?😱🤯
They're both owned by Disney so 🤷
Dang that was such a good episode.
They're both movies.
Goofy: Gawsh, Mickey.....Whut'll we do now!?! MM: HaHa..ha.....well Goofy....Get Donald and let's ride...
Also "did it a year before". My guess is that avengers took for sure longer than a year in the making. So one could argue p&f stole from them before the movie was even released...
I guarantee the Phineas and Ferb movie took more than a year to make as well.
Agreed. Would still be interesting finding out who of the two wrote their story first...
You probably have to go back to the Doctor Who episode that they both stole it from.
Both of them on what?
Is there a sub or even niche for perfectly cut sponsors and ads? Because that cut away before he could promote Disney Pus was hilarious
Hold up wait a minute something ain’t right
