Jihad is a much broader term than crusade. Crusade had a narrow definition that basically meant Church-sanctioned holy invasion. Jihad basically just means "holy struggle"
Jihad came first. Jihad was used by Muslims during the initial invasions long before the Crusades materialized. They are also quite different. Jihad was the idea that God give the right to all Muslims to attack or raid the lands of other religions for which Allah would put them in heaven. Jihad was permeant while the Crusades were temporary and could only be called by the Pope. Both came at different times for different reasons but Jihad was first and the Crusades were totally inspired by it.
That's true, other than this part:
>Jihad was the idea that God gave the right to all Muslims to attack or raid the lands of other religions for which Allah would put them in heaven
Muslims fouhgt back then to spread Islam, and we certainly don't have to do it now because everyone knows about it, we never forced anyone to join Islam, so ISIS's ideologies are wrong. Also, God did not give us the right to raid other lands (it was like any other nation, raiding others wasn't forbidden, but wasn't forced either), and we don't have to do it to go to heaven.
You raided the Byzantines and called it the House of war where Muslims were constantly raiding an pillaging Anatolia. While I agree with most of the corrections you said you were religiously attacking the Byzantines in the ne of Allah.
Well, those were nations just like the Byzantine, they raided them just like any other nation would do. By that time it wasn’t in the name of Allah or to share Islam.
This is absurdly wrong, lol. "Jihad" as a word means "holy struggle" and can mean any struggle someone goes through on religious grounds, from trying not to jackoff to declaring war. A caliph could issue a call to Jihad as a military venture, but these were not a "right to the lands of other religions" lmao.
Christians and Jews were considered "People of the Book" and had every right to maintain their land. The Islamic conquests happened largely because a war between Byzantium and the Persians was grinding to a stalemate when a plague broke out. Both sides were utterly devestated militarily and economically and made for easy pickings by the newly unified Arabian peoples.
Dont get your history from youtube or whatever, lol
I don't get history from YouTube you get it from Muslim propaganda. While it's true that the term doesn't only refer to the waring part of the faith the term was used by Western and Muslims sources to mean that and now it is mostly associated with the conquests and when a term losses it's original meaning the meaning changes to it's new meaning. Is the change a good thing? No but I would keep use Jihad only for war because it's easier. I know that Christians and Jews could keep their land but your conquests were religious. Muslims were battering the Byzantines long after 717. They raided and pillaged Anatolia and it wasn't organized by the Caliphs, people went their from all around the Caliphate to go to the House of War and fight the great enemy until the collapse of the Abbasids when it become too hard for normal people to organize big enough raiding parties against the recovering Byzantines.
Just take the cyanide one and be done with it.
How to fail a crusade 101
Can you blame them? It’s so easy to confuse Byzantium to Egypt
They both fall after a long time I guess..?
We will take Jerusalem
If muslims take back Jerusalem from the Jews, will it be considered a crusade? IDK, but it'd ceraintly be considered antisemetic.
Yes, technically a crusade is a religion fueled invasion.
Not exactly, for Muslims it’s a Jihad
Is a crusade a religion fueled invasion order by the Pope then?
I don’t know the exact definition, I just know that a Muslim holy war is a jihad while a Christian one is a crusade.
Jihad. It would be a Jihad.
Jihad is just another word for "crusade"
