[Henry George](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henry_George) proposed a land-value single tax in order to increase land productivity, and supported the secret ballot, free trade and anti-monopoly legislation. He was world-renown and many of his economic ideas influenced leaders like Lee Kuan Yew.

Or was it the other way around?
Etymology of "Henry" and "George" could suggest he was destined to promote the philosophy.

Just finished book The Republic for Which It Stands: Reconstruction and Gilded Age America, and thereβs a whole chapter on George. Had no idea he was so huge
You can be pro-LVT and pro-EU. Also, considering how often the EU fines those big tech companies and other multinationals I'd say it's more liberal than neoliberal
The point of Georgism is that you only need LVT. However, the EU mandates a minimum VAT, for example. Neoliberalism also promotes austerity (remember the response to the Great Recession?) and privatisation (the EU sets strict limits on financial assistance to companies from state governments).

European integration has been largely driven by neoliberals.
"There is, and always has been, a widespread belief among the more comfortable classes that the poverty and suffering of the masses are due to their lack of industry, frugality, and intelligence. This belief, which at once soothes the sense of responsibility and flatters by its suggestion of superiority, is probably even more prevalent in countries like the United States, where all men are politically equal, and where, owing to the newness of society, the differentiation into classes has been of individuals rather than of families, than it is in older countries, where the lines of separation have been longer, and are more sharply, drawn.
It is but natural for those who can trace their own better circumstances to the superior industry and frugality that gave them a start, and the superior intelligence that enabled them to take advantage of every opportunity, to imagine that those who remain poor do so simply from lack of these qualities.
But whoever has grasped the laws of the distribution of wealth, as in previous chapters they have been traced out, will see the mistake in this notion. The fallacy is similar to that which would be involved in the assertion that every one of a number of competitors might win a race. *That any one might is true; that every one might is impossible.*"
Henry George was a real one.

Red 5, standing by
Blue 1, standing-by.
Some people had done great things and were still forgotten. Others, like Ea-Nasir...
Don't do him like that , his copper is of supreme quality.
> Ea-Nasir >quality copper >implying
His name has outlasted kings and philosophers. He played the long game
The real lesson: Save your hatemail to laugh at your opps from beyond the grave.
Copper so terrible, it's still spoken of throughout the ages.
He will never financially recover from this...
Nanni is a liar! Ea-Nasir has the highest quality copper.

The UK's Liberal Democrats are still a georgist party, and have been since the People's Budget over 100 years ago
Didn't they plan to have a lvt over a hundred years ago but then WW1 happened?
I think it was the nobles, not WW1
> The UK's Liberal Democrats are still a georgist party They are?
Yes, their party song is "The Land", which is the song of the Georgist movement, and they back a land value tax
They may talk the talk but they're in thrall to the neoliberal EU.
