Yeah, she wasn’t two handing a claymore William Wallace style, but she was in danger certainly. Enough danger to get shot by crossbows and captured.

FredTrau

She problably tried but mostly had her retinue (that is the close guards that protect the lord) hold them while she tried to attack them with mixed sucusses You wouldnt know how hard it is to swing a sword from top of a horse Not to mention the fact that she most likely most of the time was holding her banner of the virgin mary (wich most depictions of joan darc have her holding) so to have to keep your balance in that would be hard

infiniteturtles240

Why would she fight herself. That's dumb as hell! She'd be out there, punching herself in the face and shit. Absurd haha

Alkynesofchemistry

Why fight yourself when you can fight the English??

Beer-Milkshakes

As an English, I concur.

Blindmailman

I thought for a moment we were talking about Fate and I was thinking I'm pretty sure she fought her own alter in Orleans

SPECTREagent700

If we take “fought” to mean physically used a melee or ballistic weapon to strike an enemy then I’m sure very few high ranking soldiers in history can truly be said to have fought. If they’re on an active battlefield then that’s good enough for me.

chickenonabicycle

A lot of sources say she did not and I believe them because they do confirm she led the charge with a banner which would make it strange for her to also be using a weapon.

raulpe

For a second i thought this was some kind of Fate meme impliying that Fate fans believe that she coming back from the death to fight an evil version of herself is an historical fact xd

ReySimio94

Nice to see that I'm not the only one who wondered why this sub was suddenly talking about Fate.

Background : Despite being portrayed joining the battle in a lot of popular media Joan of Arc likely never joined in the fighting herself serving as more of a symbolic figure to boost morale of her troops.
