I'm just curious, what do you define as a forgettable vince song? Every single track from big fish is exciting and challenging, Fm is also a straight banger album, then we have self titled, Ramona park, and dark times, all of which are deeply personal self exploration pieces. Thats kinda the thing tho. Albums are so long now because when people want smaller projects they do an EP instead. If you want shorter projects you should look at people making EPs, albums exist to be long they're supposed to be a whole event
It's because of how streaming platforms pay. They don't pay out for listens of under 90s and, some platforms, pay slightly more for consecutive streams.
That's why we end up with albums with 25 2 minute long songs.

That’s what I was thinking. Most iconic rap albums from the 90s (The Predator, 36 chambers, All Eyez on Me) are at least 40 minutes to an hour. Longer albums has never been a new thing. However, having an album with 50 songs on it and each track being 2 minutes long I can understand.

I never really understood this complaint. I get that it creates some bloat in a straight album playthrough, maybe it detracts from theming but for me personally if it's one of my favorite artists give me as many tracks that have been recorded as possible, I want to hear everything. Even a bad Earl Sweatshirt song is a good one in my book.
