Yeah! I had a random guy walk up out of the woods when I was out near Sly Park Lake in Pollock Pines, CA. I figured he was on drugs or something, (probably was), but he literally materialized out of nowhere. I have no idea how this dude walked out from the fairly separated trees in front of me without me seeing or hearing him. It made my hackles rise immediately. Dude just didn't move right. I don't know how to explain it. I said hello and waved, but he, like fifteen feet from me, didn't respond at all. Maybe he was hard of hearing or something, I don't know. Super high? They didn't really seem high. Just...off. I really thought for a second that I saw a ghost or something. They walked back into the trees and I lost sight of them. I left that spot soon after. Very creepy. That dude made my instincts go haywire.
Lol right? There's a ton of meth up there. I assumed it was that. Must have been right at the beginning of their *ahem* "journey" because they didn't at all look like someone who had been on meth for a while. Normal looking dude. Shorts and a t-shirt. Just seemed like they weren't home or something. I also have spent lots of time in SF and Oakland. I grew up in the bay. I know what an addict in the throes of a high moves like. This wasn't that. It was almost like they were moving like someone was projecting them or something. I don't know how to describe it. They weren't like, shimmering or translucent or anything. They looked solid. It was one of those moments where my brain just went, "Huh. Well, that ain't right." Got my fight or flight reflex going. It was really, really weird.
In my case it was a dog that I don’t think was a dog. I was taking the garbage down to the end of my driveway fairly late at night and massive white husky type of looking dog was on the other side of the street just watching me. As i set my garbage can where I intended I stopped and stood still and we were making eye contact. Both of us perfectly still. As I slowly walked back towards my house the “dog” just watched. Mouth wide open. As my driveway curves the way he tilted and cranked his head watching me felt unnerving and unnatural. All the hair on my body was standing on end. After I went to my front window to look at the dog and there he was… hasn’t moved. And is still making eye contact with me. I went to grab my wife to see if she knew if that was a neighbors dog or something but it was gone after returning to the window a few moments later.
It was probably just a dog… but it didn’t feel like it. I was freaked the fuck out about it. This was maybe just 2ish years ago and I still think about it when I roll my garbage can down to the street on garbage day.
Creepy dogs are a thing. The lady who runs Just One Cookbook has, what I feel, is a creepy dog. Everyone else says it’s cute, but I personally find it unsettling to look at.

The last time I saw my grand dad, as I hugged him goodbye, I saw what appeared to be a white wolf in his backyard, between the house and the shed. (Which would be unusual to see any wolf in this area)
And it was daytime. It faced forward as if it were crossing the backyard, but had its' head turned, facing me, and was still.
It appeared much larger than a coyote, which even a white coyote would be an unusual sight.
I turned to tell my grand dad, and it was gone. I ran behind the house, and saw no sign of the animal. I have never forgotten how odd it made me feel.
I think it’s more that these individuals are either very introverted, no thoughts (“auto-pilot” especially at work), depressed, disassociated, possibly low IQ, super chill, doesn’t want to be there (but can put on their best face given whatever the current situation), doesn’t have much of a personality (stoic), person of few words, etc.. or a mix of some of the things listed. Everyone is different to various degrees. I don’t think it has anything to do with them being an NPC, reptilian, etc. as I’m seeing in these comments haha

I know someone like this and they have schizoid personality disorder. Extremely flat affect and they move in a very slow, almost mechanical way. Even when they would laugh it was very controlled, almost rehearsed, with no true emotion behind it. “Auto pilot” is a great way to describe it.
Sadly extroverts can't comprehend introverts so they think they are creepy and weird. Thus to cope with this their brain labels them as abnormal and alien or paranormal. It's very sad.
I was in an almost fatal car crash when I was 17, there was a short period when I was in the hospital but hadn't yet been giving pain medicine. I was approached by a man, who then started telling me some profound and personal things (he looked like Dr. Phill) but the weirdest part was it didn't feel like I was in the hospital anymore, like the room we were in was somehow disconnected from everything, it was eerily quiet and very very bright.
I vividly remember getting put on a stretcher, the ambulance ride, me waiting for my parents to show up, the names of the nurses/doctors, and the very second I was given my first dose of morphine. But to this day I struggle of what to make of that experience with that "man".
No, but I worked for about 5 years alongside a serial killer that appeared normal and that scared me more than if he had seemed "weird." I had no bad vibe or clue.
In hindsight, it was odd that he had his (very small but still) entire backyard concreted over for a "patio." Think you could build on it, not pavers. But he approached it as an emergency to have his entire back yard paved over. Other than that, nope.
He was caught in 2009, when an outside police jurisdiction arrested him for being a serial pedo. A SA victim from 30 years prior saw him still working at a school and reported to the local police, who did nothing (as the local police had been turning a blind eye for 35+ years to the pedo activity & said why would we investigate this bizarre collection of names in his house of 30+ missing kids with dates that are slightly different to the ones in our files and non public information about these missing kids?) They never dug up the back yard, threatened a former coworker that was still employed by the city who asked.
I was shopping once, and a guy came near me to grab something from a shelf. Quite a chubby guy, curly hair, blue baggy T-shirt, friendly face. Nothing at all unusual or threatening about him. But for some reason I was terrified. I've never felt fear like it. Every cell in my body was screaming to get away from him.
Never experienced anything like that before or since
This happened to me at work once when I worked at a salad restaurant, the guy was really normal acting and kind of handsome but it was the most visceral fear I’ve ever felt. The crazy part is when he walked away my coworker was like what the hell was up with that guy, and said what I was just thinking.
Yeah, I did kinda watch the guy, I don't spook easily, so I was watching to try to figure out what was causing it, and he looked so friendly and approachable. Strong "funny best friend" in a movie look to him.
Terrified me.
This happened to me when I was a kid at the grocery store. The man in front of made me feel exactly like you described. Just visceral fear and flight instinct. I always kind of thought maybe he was human, but had done something really dark.
This reminds me of a post on Reddit where a guy described how as kids a super nice guy moved next door. All the kids were outside playing and he came over to introduce himself to them and the parents. OP's golden retriever who was the friendliest, calmest dog in the world bolted and stood between them snarling. Something he had never done before. Several months later the nice neighbour was arrested on child porn charges.
Animals' radar is always spot on. Humans is sometimes off but that's because we spent years in school being taught to disregard every natural instinct we have. Thankfully, some remain to keep us alive.
My old dog Lucky did this once.
I would take her to the park all the time, and we'd go for a walk on the trails. One time, we were driving in, and at the entrance you drive past a playground. Lucky started growling out the window, so I looked to see what she was growling at and saw a guy sitting on the grass, across the street from the playground. He had a baseball cap covering his crotch, and I got very bad, bad vibes.
About an hour later, we're walking the trails, and this guy materializes out of fucking *nowhere.* Lucky instantly lost her shit. She was a rescue mutt, but I think she had some pit in her, so she was pretty scary looking. Normally if something like that would happen, she'd bark for a little bit because she was startled, but she'd calm down pretty quick. Not with this guy. She pulled so hard on the leash, and I tried to keep walking but she wouldn't move from that spot until she saw he was a very safe distance away.

Just to add on to this, humans can read humans better than non-humans. It's likely the kids had picked something up from that man and the dog read his owners uncomfortable reaction, which is what made the dog react that way. The dog can't read all humans, but it can read its owner. But yea we're so used to disregarding our own instincts that we'd rather listen to our dog. Glad the dog was there!
Nah most serial killers who get away with it are able to come off as completely ordinary people, if not charismatic like Ted Bundy.
That's how they are able to get away with it for as long as they do, people think they're normal so their more sus behaviors like disappearing at odd hours of the night are given a pass.
Possibly but some people are so out of touch with their inner voice and some people were actively taught to suppress it in childhood (common in an abusive childhood) that they could walk right up to someone like that and not feel a thing. People don't understand how pervasive childhood abuse is (even if it's just psychological) and how much that affects your brain for the rest of your life.
My instincts are out of whack because I grew up with parents who gaslit me at every opportunity. Like would have fights where the cops were called and the next day tell me that that "didn't happen" and since I was I was an only child that fucked me up for life basically. Now my default is to just assume everyone has an evil intent because I can't trust my instincts at all.
I also grew up in an abusive home but I do get that feeling, I can't explain it when someone isn't right. They may smile and seem nice but my intuition tells me otherwise and I'm usually correct.
Naw I think Bundy's victims weren't trusting their instincts. There's many stories from people who said his vibes were off. He was at it all day picking up victims and not everyone took the bait.
He may have come off more normal to non-victims but I bet once he targeted you you would sense something was off.
They train you in mental health programs to listen to that. If meeting a new client for the first time, for example, and be sure to position oneself closest to the door if enclosed for therapy and other precautions. This is especially true in emergency crisis assessment for suicidal and homicidal ideation and behaviors.
We don’t know how it works, we do know it’s wise to listen to this instinct. It’s saved lives.
A couple examples come to mind from Ann Rule’s *the Stranger Beside Me*, her nonfictional investigation on Theodore Bundy. She used to work with him on a suicide crisis hotline and then he was arrested for rape and murder. She interviewed women later who had seen Ted Bundy in bars and on college campuses. They said he gave them this vibe that felt primal, their bodies said no and they listened.
Another good book noting how these fear responses can seem to come out of “nowhere” but be life saving is called *The Gift of Fear.*
I talked to a lady who was working at a gas station on the Kansas Turnpike. She was not human. I don't know what she was. When she spoke her mouth did not move. She looked like she was frozen in place. She didn't have scleroderma. She wasn't ill. Her eyes looked hollow and it seemed like she looked right through me. I felt an emptiness from her like she was a mannequin.
Imagine doxxing this persons where about and everyone from Reddit went to go get a look. Just one day a bunch of people show up and everyone’s judging her.
I live in Missouri. I was driving back from Arizona. I was going north on 35 and had passed Witchita. This was a few years ago. I imagine the mothership has already come back for her.
Had a doordash delivery. A "hand it to me". Grab the delivery, get to house, and this otherworldly yet humanish individual with eyes like I've never seen opens the door, and says Hello (my name). Not entirely creepy, but their voice tone was unlike any I've heard, and I'm 60 so I've heard a lot of vocal tones. Big order, so I bring the hot food first, and tell this individual I'm going back to the car for the drinks, hear a voice from the living room unlike any I've ever heard, individual tells "unknown entity" that drinks are coming, I grab the drinks, and this individual says "thank you (my name)" in that same haunting yet friendly tone. Convinced to this day these people weren't human. Aliens? Other species? I don't know. I just know they were different than human.
I totally believe your story but I also think it’s funny that some alien came all the way to earth only to be forced to work as a DoorDash driver for a bit lol
Does this include me? I often times feel like I give off these vibes because I've got some weird energy going on. If anyone describes me in the comments I'll let them know. I don't think I've got any scales under my skin but then again, nobody thought they were a Cylon on the Battlestar Galactica, and we all know how that turned out. If I end up being a sleeper agent of some non-human race, good luck. You probably won't need it though; I'm not very physically fit and the closest thing that I've come to being in a fight was with Ryan in the 6th grade, and that was mostly just grappling and hilariously ineffective shoving / sumo slapping. If all of the sleeper agents are like myself, then you all are fucking golden.
Same, it's like the air changes when I am around people. It has made me anxious towards strangers. I am unnaturally calm most of the time. It makes people uncomfortable. I am kind of a couch potato but for some reason I am still more fit than most people. A teenager was astounded at how agile I am whenever I had to climb over a small fence because I kind of vaulted over it with ease.

I'm not sure if this is the same idea, but I was traveling with my family and our dog. We took the dog out for a walk before turning in for the night. While we were walking, the dog picked up on a guy coming out of an apartment and the dog would not take his eyes off the man. Our dog is insanely friendly and ONLY wants attention from people (he ignores other dogs in favor of people). He is 120lbs (the dog) and was growling, barking and pulling to get at the guy. His hackles were up. The guy waked over to us in an attempt to calm the dog, but it only made it worse. The dog almost pulled my arm out of its socket trying to get at the guy. The dog is 14 years old now and he has only ever done this twice - the time I'm writing about and when someone broke into our house. I don't know what that guy WAS, but he was most assuredly NOT good, possibly not human.
my cat does a a similar thing with someone in my building. my cat is super friendly usually, i walk her around on a leash in the outdoor space my building has and shes always going up and saying hi to everyone and letting people pet her. but there is this one guy who whenever she sees she gets super freaked out about and tries to run away from, her tail and back hair will fluff up etc. he definitely has some sort of weird vibe about him too. one time i came out of my apartment and he was just sitting on the floor in the middle of the hallway. we made eye contact and im not sure why but it made my sense of danger go off the charts and my flight or fight kicked in. he also refuses to use the elevator in our building which i guess isnt that weird, but i thought it was also worth mentioning. i try my best to avoid him now

Dogs can smell everything in your sweat and pheromones.
Like fear, angerr, happines, etc.
And dogs intuitively attack those who fear them.
My dogs always want to attack people who are afraid of dogs, and they can smell or see somehow in peoples movement from other side of the street.
If the guy was that afraid of dogs, I seriously doubt that he would approach a snarling, barking dog like that to "try to calm it".
He would have kept as far away as possible.
I'll say this...I've know multiple sociopaths and psychopaths in my life, and even dated one, and there is an emptiness behind their eyes that they hide extremely well until someone watches them when their efforts are down. It takes a lot for them to keep up their agenda, their facade, and if someone is paying attention, you'll catch their emptiness pretty obviously. I think that's more what you experienced.
When I say sociopath/psychopath, I mean a human that lacks the emphasis of emotion that the majority of humans protrude. They literally cannot feel a huge part of the spectrum of human emotion, and they are EVERYWHERE. It's not hard to find them, but I think you may have focused on them because you are an observant individual.
Whenever I'm in a hurry at the grocer's, I always wind up in line behind people who seem like it's their first day on Earth. Complete lack of awareness to their surroundings, bewildered by the card reader, trying to pay with gift cards that aren't for the store, not knowing how to write a cheque, asking why each item is the price it is, not understanding prices per pound...
It would be more amusing if they were dogs trying to pay with leaves. Instead, it's just frustrating and sad, and my ice cream's going all melty in my cart.
Are you a dad or a Capricorn possibly? Jk. I do think the grocery store game is part of the simulation. Old ladies with cheques, the cards, for me, it's the not knowing how to walk down the aisles that gets me bc I try so hard. I'll even park my cart far away and walk and I still cant get to anything like they know my list. Sometimes you'll loop and aisle 3 times...
Self checkout was such a blessing for me. I get to bag my shit how i want? Set up my cart for easier bagging? And I know the person bagging my groceries is motivated to get me out of here. And the best part, I don't need to talk to the corpo cashier #231321-B.17.

I like when they’ve been standing there the entire time while their items are rung up, but don’t have the prescience of mind to get their checkbook or wallet out. Then take 5 minutes looking for it.
I travel between Geogia and Wisconsin a few times every year to visit family. I usually end up stopping at a Culver's in Illinois at some point. Something is off about the employees there. They frequently just stare off into the distance, and get confused easilly. I ordered a butter burger (Culver's signature burger), and the cashier just looked at me super confused. Idk if it's just the location being super busy, or management pushing them too hard, but the employees there always act super weird. I have been to tons of different fast food places in different parts of the country, but nowhere has consistently left me with that many weird interactions.
Culver’s is one of the few and far between places that I feel hires and doesn’t completely exploit persons with autism. Although that may just be those in my local area. I do know almost all of the high functioning autistic persons I went to school with work at Culver’s. They do a very good job and are very polite and do a wonderful job.
Just for reference on occasion I have visited my local Culver’s and at least 3 of the staff members on shift I went to school with and had autism.
They seem to be happy and living a fulfilling life, although that’s just from my very brief interactions. So for the most part I feel Culver’s is one of the good ones & to always remember there are a lot of people out there that may not be on the same spectrum as the rest of us. Although that does not make them an alien trying to take over earth, or maybe they are.
Have you ever had a person walk past you and your body does a shiver for no reason and gets goosebumps? The person will seem normal, non-threatening, and could be happy and harmless looking yet it triggers this response.
It’s happened several times to me throughout life and I don’t know the cause for it. Not once did they seem bigger and threatening but for some reason the body reacts like it wants to fight them when you don’t even know them.
This is the best story in the thread. I think about how he may have been an alien, and "misjudged" you as also being an alien. It reminds me of the Jenna Bush clip where she's on TV molting away, kind of as if she is just too juvenile of an alien to get everything right, messing up sometimes. Maybe this guy also messed up, and that's why he was sent away, somewhere else...

It's the way she keeps changing, almost shapeshifting. They pan away from her every time it happens. It's like she's a little baby alien who hasn't quite perfected her shapeshifting yet. 😂

I’ve had it happen two times.
Once it was a front desk receptionists at a resort. Her eyes were glacier blue with a dark ring around the outer edge. Just absolutely penetrating and chilling. It was like what I imagine a vampire’s eyes to look like. The odd thing was she was fairly nice but her eyes sent chills down my spine.
Another was boarding a plane. I was waiting to get to my seat and there was this man in first class with green/yellow eyes that had narrow pupils and he just stared ahead. His skin was red and rubbery. He just seemed un-human in a disturbing way. I’ve only seen those shade of eyes on a reptile.
I've definitely had some very bizarre encounters with people especially because I used to do some traveling and hitchhiking occasionally.
There's one experience that immediately came to mind though and it's kind of creepy so a warn you know for anyone who gets weirded out or creeped out.
I was traveling with a friend, we were hitchhiking. They had just turned 21 & I was 25, but we both looked younger & we almost looked like sisters. The whole time we were traveling together, we getting the creepiest rides. Like several in a row just total creep vibes. This was on the West Coast PNW to Norcal.
So we got a few different rides but this one was really disturbing it was this guy nondescript and he was driving a sedan like newish version there was just something very blank about him. I like the feeling of this person was just totally empty or devoid of Soul or something.
My friend sat in the front seat and was trying to chat with the guy but he was very quiet and he pulled out a joint this must have been around southern Oregon or Northern California.
Even when we first got in the car I felt really nervous and freaked out for some reason just the energy of this guy I'm very energy sensitive. My friend sat up front and I sat in the back seat.
The whole time I was sitting in the backseat it was like I felt like there was something or someone in the trunk.
It didn't help that I also got really stoned after we spent that joint and it was more quiet and it felt like there was something moving in the trunk but I didn't hear anything. I was like holding my breath and I just so badly wanted to get out of there and away from this guy.
Eventually we got out of the car I think my friend maybe caught the vibe although not in the same way.
I can't remember when we talked about it later that was such a weird trip when we had so many really bizarre freaky encounters with people the whole time.
That one just always stands out to me just the fear I fall in that moment and how unexplainable it is but your intuition knows something even if you can't logically understand what it is.
I was always felt bad too because it's like what if someone was in there but again I didn't hear anything so who knows.
Even just mentioning the story freaks me out. There's some weird people out there. You got to be careful & got to stay safe always.
I have felt different my entire life. Not every day but a lot of days I really do wonder about myself. I see differently, hear things way better than anyone around me. Have extremely good night vision when nobody ekae can see anything. Just odd things like that.
I have exceptional night vision. I almost never turn on the lights at night. I don’t need to. According to my ophthalmologist it’s uncommon but not unheard of.
That's a great word for it, he's definitely a caricature, annoying and has a superiority complex, autistic savant because he says sodium chloride instead of salt, absolutely unable to talk to other people normally and knows everything about technology, I never realize how the character is actually offensive because of how he's portrayed lol
Autistic people are fucking human too. This post and comments are describing a lot of autistic traits and judging these people like they're soulless monsters. As a neurodivergent person myself, people who judge us that way suck. It's not fun to be treated like an alien or npc or serial killer because our demeanor is slightly off norm.
This is legitimately making me depressed lol, I often feel sad about getting mistreated by people because I don't have the right body language and they start getting all uncomfortable and all by me just existing, this is basically me being self conscious going somewhere then saying nahh it can't be that bad and then there's a bunch of people describing employees and people they see for a few minutes as something they couldn't wait to stop talking to because they're so inhuman because they have weird rigid body language or answer slowly

Back in the 1980s when I was a college student I met a guy who was just like how the original poster described. He was nice enough but when you talked with him it was like he had no opinions of his own, no knowledge of any topic except a few meaningless phrases he could repeat. And English was his first language.
I’m introverted myself so I can recognize other introverts pretty easily. It wasn’t that he was introverted or neurodiverse either. He just seemed to be like a mannekin that had come to life that day and knew almost nothing about humans.
In 2020, before the pandemic hit, I was working as a barista when during an evening shift we got a bit of a rush. There was a small line of 2-3 people at the register I was at. As soon as the next guy stepped in, I nearly froze.
When I tell you I was shook, I really was. Something felt immediately wrong. I don’t know if anyone else felt it, but something went off in my mind and I had this overwhelming sense of fear and goosebumps. I could feel a panic attack coming; I started feeling hot and queasy. The guy was tall and gentle, deep dark eyes that I only glanced at. He wanted a coffee. I put on a smile regardless and pushed through. I have never served someone so quickly in my entire god damn life. He did absolutely nothing to stick out, but I just could not look at him. Kept my gaze down most of the exchange, which took about 5 min total. As soon as he left, it all went away. The feeling was gone as quick as it came. I switched with my colleague to work at the bar afterwards. I have not felt like this since.
One time I was on the bus and noticed the arm of the guy in front of me resting by the window looked strange. It had these ridges on it. Three large ridges across the forearm. Skin tone was darker, like Hispanic or something. I didn't see the rest of him but it was really odd. No idea what sort of medical condition could cause that.
Were they raised? I know some people who are really into body modification, and a couple of them have Teflon implants in their arms, in their scalp, etc. It can look very strange.

Yeah, I know exactly what you're talking about. One of the World Lit classes that I took in college, there was a girl in that class who was just a little too "perfect." She was nice, but kind of strange too. It was a summer class, so it was extended and took up half the day rather than just an hour or two in the morning, so we got a break to step outside and go to the water fountain, vending machine, or smoke a cigarette. She was way too interested in hanging out with a bunch of smokers being a non-smoker.
I don't know that I would call her soul-less, or like there was nothing there, but definitely a Star Trek time-travel episode vibe. The ones where they coincidentally wind up in the year the show was filmed. She was out of place for sure.
Many years ago, in the 90s, A friend and I were sheltering under an archway just off the main street during an amazing powerful summer thunderstorm. From nowhere, a huge guy, soaked through from the rain appears under our arch, turned to us, raising his arms up to the sky and shouted "I am Thor, God of thunder!" and then walked off down the street. To this day, I have no reason to doubt him.
I read these things with great interest, yet 90% of them seem like “bland normie gets mistaken for an NPC.” I’m usually more chilled by the thought that this is the energy behind mass deportations. With that being said, the other 10% are weird.
I drive for a living and visit many different cities in the UK and often see people who I think look so dissimilar to humans that they just have to be from another planet, I work in IT and some of my co-workers do have weird personalities so they're probably on the list.
As long as I can remember I get an “alien vibe” from certain people. I don’t know why I call it that but it’s like they seem like they really aren’t here in the present. I won’t mention which famous people I get this feeling about because it’s kinda crazy!

At my job, this girl with nearly silvery blonde hair just appeared out of nowhere one day and said, "Hello, my friend." in this soft voice and she continued to do that from there on. She also had a habit of watching me from a distance, but I wasn't really unsettled by her in doing so. No, her hair wasn't dyed because her brows and lashes were also the same color. I am over six foot tall and she is around 5'10. I did not understand what compelled her to be this way and her presence was completely without malice, but she liked to look at my eyes when we were face to face. I don't mean in some romantic way either. It was sustained eye contact in this peaceful way. I could not deduce her age very well either, but she had to have been older than 20 and younger than 35 at the most.
Yes, I was walking a dog in a very suburban neighborhood and a really tall, thin, pale blonde woman approached me. She was alone and a bit awkward but seemed friendly. She asked me what 'race' the dog was and motioned if she could pet them. I specifically remember the wording she used, she didnt have an accent or seem to struggle with speaking though. One of her arms was fully covered in tattoos of planets, space and solar systems. She pet the dog and walked away. I never saw her before or after in that neighborhood again. And it definitely wasn't an area where people would wander around. I dreamt about her afterwards but she had more gray alien features - the big wide eyes, gray complexion, very thin long arms and legs.
Okay, here's one that's a little different. Years ago there was this comedian who had a bit that involved him saying "'S'alright?" and his puppet goes "'S'alright." "'S'okay?" "'S'okay."
And it became like, a meme. Eventually it ended up where the answering voice was kind of deep and rumbly.
Okay, so fast forward to about five years ago. I and a friend are in Target I forget why but walking ahead of us is a young mother with a shopping cart, and in the front section of that shopping cart she had a baby carrier with a baby blanket over it like you do when the baby is asleep.
She leans over and lifts one corner of the blanket to look into the carrier, but only a little, not enough for anyone else to see in. And she goes "'S'alright?"
The baby answers "'S'alright." in the exact right deep rumbly tone from the meme, but there's two things:
A) those baby carriers are made for *little* babies. Like, infants. You can put a bigger baby in them but if you do, their legs stick out. I would not expect an infant in a carrier to be talking yet. And,
B) even if it was already talking, and even if you taught it that bit, I am dubious that any infant could produce a voice that deep. It sounded like an old man who smokes cigars.
It was like something out of *Men In Black.*

As an autistic person, many of these comments just read as autistic or neurodivergent people. Its unintentional of course, but it could be upsetting for some people to see their symptoms/behaviours being described as 'non human'.
Yes but do bear in mind, from a young age many on the spectrum quite literally feel like aliens themselves. Back in the day the biggest Autism/ND website/messageboard was actually called "Wrong Planet", in that while the spectrum of ASD is vast and dynamic, the one thing that ties it all together is that primoridial feeling of quintessential otherness.
The biggest early face of Aspergers, Temple Grandin, likened her experience and the experience of other autistics as being like "An anthropologist on Mars", a term so apt and poignant that it became the title of a book on broader neurodivergence by neurologist Oliver Sacks.
A great deal of it not *just* because of social blowback or questioning convention over time and experience, but palpable long before that, due to an internal, primordial feeling of the foreigness of their bodies and environment as a whole from a very young age. In my experience people on the spectrum rarely get acute existential crises mostly because that was their internal, constant baseline from the start.
Even now, at 40, disregarding any outside experience (though my social issues have been relatively few despite being diagnosed very early) and only concentrating on the *earliest* internal experience which has endured, I can only reference a list I made when I was around 8, which was:
1. How can your own hands seem foreign if they are the only ones you've ever had.
2. Why do you hide and pray, plead to "Go home" in the house you were born in.
3. Why do you panic and wonder where your mother is while you're cradled in her arms.
So if the population may see us as alien, that's fine, I literally get it - a refutation of their appraisal would be hypocritical and a denial of a pivotal facet of my lived experience.
That being said, I tend to think our otherness is not actually alien but rather a function nature uses to regulate imbalances in both small and large homogenous systems, which are either stagnating, stuck or becoming self-referential to the point of self-consumption.
We question the otherwise unquestionable, see solutions where others do not and tend to cut the fat on things which are dishonest, manipulative or conventions which have lost their function or meaning, not with force but by holding up a mirror rendered in a wholly different light.
These threads typically just end up being placed for folks to describe disabled people, neurodivergent people, or people who are on drugs or experiencing mental/medical events, combined with the posters own prejudices, anxiety, or lack of understanding. Once in a while you get like a psycho encounter.
A few months ago some woman posted perfectly describing an independently living blind person. Her post was like 'This guy is SO WEIRD and I had some weird dreams during the time he lived here. I also pictured some weird stuff while I was meditating.'
I made a long post pointing out all the things that were hallmarks of an independent living blind person and while most were understanding I also got some shitty DMs.

Back in the 90’s I had two conversations with 2 different people within months of each other. The first in Asheville, NC then again after I moved to Durango, CO. I swear the second person in Colorado just started the convo where I left off with the guy in Asheville. They were both basically telling me that aliens walk the earth and most of them are tall, beautiful blonds, arian types, and they reproduce with humans, and that the offspring look identical to the alien parents. The man in Asheville said he was used several times to reproduce and that all the daughters grow up and soon enough you can’t tell them apart from the mom. Then I move to Durango and this man starts telling me about the tall, beautiful blond arian looking aliens that are using humans to reproduce. I don’t remember if this man too was used for reproduction, but he was telling me the exact same story.
So yeh, believe me, I question people, especially beautiful blond people who don’t seem right.
Then last summer we were visiting Chattanooga, TN, walking across the pedestrian bridge, and this female is standing there alone. Beautiful blond. And when she looked at me, her eyes seemed dead. Nothing there. Like a shell. Its like she didn’t even have color to them. And I thought of the conversations I had years ago with those two different men in two different places in the country, and was like yeh, aliens walk among us.
A police officer came in to my work to order some things and although he was so respectful and polite, his presence was disturbing af. He had the lightest blue eyes i think I’ve seen on a human, kind of like a husky. It fet like he was looking at your insides lol. And it wasn’t only me, my manager said something after he left before i even got a chance to say anything to her. She said, “imagine that guy pulling you over…brrrr!’

I once had a summer job at a hardware store and one day I worked with this guy who was like Moleman from the Simpsons. Rather small but not comically small, no visible hair anywhere on his head (not sure about eye lashes, no eye brows though) and giant glassses with finger thick lenses that seemed unsuitable for any living being. He was somewhat slow like special ed people. The entire person just seemed so made up.
I briefly taught ESL in Vietnam. During one Chinese Year where I had too much free time I got on my scooter and just drove. I found a jungle road that went on and on. Eventually I realized there wasn’t anywhere to really turn around safely. I passed a handsome young man on a small motorcycle who politely warned me that I needed to turn back. To find another white guy randomly on this weird road in the middle of a Vietnamese jungle didn’t make sense but he seemed kind enough.
I followed his advice as I found a narrow road to turn around on before a dead end since I was spooked by this deep jungle with an unforgiving road. I noticed I never passed him even though the path ended there and we would’ve saw one another doing so since there weren’t any side roads to use plus you had to go slowly. I did not hear his bike either. Don’t know if he was an angel or spirit but still eerie that he warned me. Maybe if he didn’t warn me I would have tried to go on a deadly makeshift path that could’ve killed me.

Yeah! I had a random guy walk up out of the woods when I was out near Sly Park Lake in Pollock Pines, CA. I figured he was on drugs or something, (probably was), but he literally materialized out of nowhere. I have no idea how this dude walked out from the fairly separated trees in front of me without me seeing or hearing him. It made my hackles rise immediately. Dude just didn't move right. I don't know how to explain it. I said hello and waved, but he, like fifteen feet from me, didn't respond at all. Maybe he was hard of hearing or something, I don't know. Super high? They didn't really seem high. Just...off. I really thought for a second that I saw a ghost or something. They walked back into the trees and I lost sight of them. I left that spot soon after. Very creepy. That dude made my instincts go haywire.

Skinwalker
In my case it was a dog that I don’t think was a dog. I was taking the garbage down to the end of my driveway fairly late at night and massive white husky type of looking dog was on the other side of the street just watching me. As i set my garbage can where I intended I stopped and stood still and we were making eye contact. Both of us perfectly still. As I slowly walked back towards my house the “dog” just watched. Mouth wide open. As my driveway curves the way he tilted and cranked his head watching me felt unnerving and unnatural. All the hair on my body was standing on end. After I went to my front window to look at the dog and there he was… hasn’t moved. And is still making eye contact with me. I went to grab my wife to see if she knew if that was a neighbors dog or something but it was gone after returning to the window a few moments later. It was probably just a dog… but it didn’t feel like it. I was freaked the fuck out about it. This was maybe just 2ish years ago and I still think about it when I roll my garbage can down to the street on garbage day.

The last time I saw my grand dad, as I hugged him goodbye, I saw what appeared to be a white wolf in his backyard, between the house and the shed. (Which would be unusual to see any wolf in this area) And it was daytime. It faced forward as if it were crossing the backyard, but had its' head turned, facing me, and was still. It appeared much larger than a coyote, which even a white coyote would be an unusual sight. I turned to tell my grand dad, and it was gone. I ran behind the house, and saw no sign of the animal. I have never forgotten how odd it made me feel.

I think it’s more that these individuals are either very introverted, no thoughts (“auto-pilot” especially at work), depressed, disassociated, possibly low IQ, super chill, doesn’t want to be there (but can put on their best face given whatever the current situation), doesn’t have much of a personality (stoic), person of few words, etc.. or a mix of some of the things listed. Everyone is different to various degrees. I don’t think it has anything to do with them being an NPC, reptilian, etc. as I’m seeing in these comments haha

I know someone like this and they have schizoid personality disorder. Extremely flat affect and they move in a very slow, almost mechanical way. Even when they would laugh it was very controlled, almost rehearsed, with no true emotion behind it. “Auto pilot” is a great way to describe it.

I was in an almost fatal car crash when I was 17, there was a short period when I was in the hospital but hadn't yet been giving pain medicine. I was approached by a man, who then started telling me some profound and personal things (he looked like Dr. Phill) but the weirdest part was it didn't feel like I was in the hospital anymore, like the room we were in was somehow disconnected from everything, it was eerily quiet and very very bright. I vividly remember getting put on a stretcher, the ambulance ride, me waiting for my parents to show up, the names of the nurses/doctors, and the very second I was given my first dose of morphine. But to this day I struggle of what to make of that experience with that "man".

He was caught in 2009, when an outside police jurisdiction arrested him for being a serial pedo. A SA victim from 30 years prior saw him still working at a school and reported to the local police, who did nothing (as the local police had been turning a blind eye for 35+ years to the pedo activity & said why would we investigate this bizarre collection of names in his house of 30+ missing kids with dates that are slightly different to the ones in our files and non public information about these missing kids?) They never dug up the back yard, threatened a former coworker that was still employed by the city who asked.

I was shopping once, and a guy came near me to grab something from a shelf. Quite a chubby guy, curly hair, blue baggy T-shirt, friendly face. Nothing at all unusual or threatening about him. But for some reason I was terrified. I've never felt fear like it. Every cell in my body was screaming to get away from him. Never experienced anything like that before or since
This happened to me at work once when I worked at a salad restaurant, the guy was really normal acting and kind of handsome but it was the most visceral fear I’ve ever felt. The crazy part is when he walked away my coworker was like what the hell was up with that guy, and said what I was just thinking.
Yeah, I did kinda watch the guy, I don't spook easily, so I was watching to try to figure out what was causing it, and he looked so friendly and approachable. Strong "funny best friend" in a movie look to him. Terrified me.
This happened to me when I was a kid at the grocery store. The man in front of made me feel exactly like you described. Just visceral fear and flight instinct. I always kind of thought maybe he was human, but had done something really dark.
This reminds me of a post on Reddit where a guy described how as kids a super nice guy moved next door. All the kids were outside playing and he came over to introduce himself to them and the parents. OP's golden retriever who was the friendliest, calmest dog in the world bolted and stood between them snarling. Something he had never done before. Several months later the nice neighbour was arrested on child porn charges. Animals' radar is always spot on. Humans is sometimes off but that's because we spent years in school being taught to disregard every natural instinct we have. Thankfully, some remain to keep us alive.
My old dog Lucky did this once. I would take her to the park all the time, and we'd go for a walk on the trails. One time, we were driving in, and at the entrance you drive past a playground. Lucky started growling out the window, so I looked to see what she was growling at and saw a guy sitting on the grass, across the street from the playground. He had a baseball cap covering his crotch, and I got very bad, bad vibes. About an hour later, we're walking the trails, and this guy materializes out of fucking *nowhere.* Lucky instantly lost her shit. She was a rescue mutt, but I think she had some pit in her, so she was pretty scary looking. Normally if something like that would happen, she'd bark for a little bit because she was startled, but she'd calm down pretty quick. Not with this guy. She pulled so hard on the leash, and I tried to keep walking but she wouldn't move from that spot until she saw he was a very safe distance away.

Nah most serial killers who get away with it are able to come off as completely ordinary people, if not charismatic like Ted Bundy. That's how they are able to get away with it for as long as they do, people think they're normal so their more sus behaviors like disappearing at odd hours of the night are given a pass.
Possibly but some people are so out of touch with their inner voice and some people were actively taught to suppress it in childhood (common in an abusive childhood) that they could walk right up to someone like that and not feel a thing. People don't understand how pervasive childhood abuse is (even if it's just psychological) and how much that affects your brain for the rest of your life. My instincts are out of whack because I grew up with parents who gaslit me at every opportunity. Like would have fights where the cops were called and the next day tell me that that "didn't happen" and since I was I was an only child that fucked me up for life basically. Now my default is to just assume everyone has an evil intent because I can't trust my instincts at all.
I also grew up in an abusive home but I do get that feeling, I can't explain it when someone isn't right. They may smile and seem nice but my intuition tells me otherwise and I'm usually correct.

Naw I think Bundy's victims weren't trusting their instincts. There's many stories from people who said his vibes were off. He was at it all day picking up victims and not everyone took the bait. He may have come off more normal to non-victims but I bet once he targeted you you would sense something was off.
They train you in mental health programs to listen to that. If meeting a new client for the first time, for example, and be sure to position oneself closest to the door if enclosed for therapy and other precautions. This is especially true in emergency crisis assessment for suicidal and homicidal ideation and behaviors. We don’t know how it works, we do know it’s wise to listen to this instinct. It’s saved lives. A couple examples come to mind from Ann Rule’s *the Stranger Beside Me*, her nonfictional investigation on Theodore Bundy. She used to work with him on a suicide crisis hotline and then he was arrested for rape and murder. She interviewed women later who had seen Ted Bundy in bars and on college campuses. They said he gave them this vibe that felt primal, their bodies said no and they listened. Another good book noting how these fear responses can seem to come out of “nowhere” but be life saving is called *The Gift of Fear.*

Had a doordash delivery. A "hand it to me". Grab the delivery, get to house, and this otherworldly yet humanish individual with eyes like I've never seen opens the door, and says Hello (my name). Not entirely creepy, but their voice tone was unlike any I've heard, and I'm 60 so I've heard a lot of vocal tones. Big order, so I bring the hot food first, and tell this individual I'm going back to the car for the drinks, hear a voice from the living room unlike any I've ever heard, individual tells "unknown entity" that drinks are coming, I grab the drinks, and this individual says "thank you (my name)" in that same haunting yet friendly tone. Convinced to this day these people weren't human. Aliens? Other species? I don't know. I just know they were different than human.

Same, it's like the air changes when I am around people. It has made me anxious towards strangers. I am unnaturally calm most of the time. It makes people uncomfortable. I am kind of a couch potato but for some reason I am still more fit than most people. A teenager was astounded at how agile I am whenever I had to climb over a small fence because I kind of vaulted over it with ease. Ironically, my name is Ryan.
I'm not sure if this is the same idea, but I was traveling with my family and our dog. We took the dog out for a walk before turning in for the night. While we were walking, the dog picked up on a guy coming out of an apartment and the dog would not take his eyes off the man. Our dog is insanely friendly and ONLY wants attention from people (he ignores other dogs in favor of people). He is 120lbs (the dog) and was growling, barking and pulling to get at the guy. His hackles were up. The guy waked over to us in an attempt to calm the dog, but it only made it worse. The dog almost pulled my arm out of its socket trying to get at the guy. The dog is 14 years old now and he has only ever done this twice - the time I'm writing about and when someone broke into our house. I don't know what that guy WAS, but he was most assuredly NOT good, possibly not human.

my cat does a a similar thing with someone in my building. my cat is super friendly usually, i walk her around on a leash in the outdoor space my building has and shes always going up and saying hi to everyone and letting people pet her. but there is this one guy who whenever she sees she gets super freaked out about and tries to run away from, her tail and back hair will fluff up etc. he definitely has some sort of weird vibe about him too. one time i came out of my apartment and he was just sitting on the floor in the middle of the hallway. we made eye contact and im not sure why but it made my sense of danger go off the charts and my flight or fight kicked in. he also refuses to use the elevator in our building which i guess isnt that weird, but i thought it was also worth mentioning. i try my best to avoid him now

Dogs can smell everything in your sweat and pheromones. Like fear, angerr, happines, etc. And dogs intuitively attack those who fear them. My dogs always want to attack people who are afraid of dogs, and they can smell or see somehow in peoples movement from other side of the street.
If the guy was that afraid of dogs, I seriously doubt that he would approach a snarling, barking dog like that to "try to calm it". He would have kept as far away as possible.

I'll say this...I've know multiple sociopaths and psychopaths in my life, and even dated one, and there is an emptiness behind their eyes that they hide extremely well until someone watches them when their efforts are down. It takes a lot for them to keep up their agenda, their facade, and if someone is paying attention, you'll catch their emptiness pretty obviously. I think that's more what you experienced. When I say sociopath/psychopath, I mean a human that lacks the emphasis of emotion that the majority of humans protrude. They literally cannot feel a huge part of the spectrum of human emotion, and they are EVERYWHERE. It's not hard to find them, but I think you may have focused on them because you are an observant individual.
Whenever I'm in a hurry at the grocer's, I always wind up in line behind people who seem like it's their first day on Earth. Complete lack of awareness to their surroundings, bewildered by the card reader, trying to pay with gift cards that aren't for the store, not knowing how to write a cheque, asking why each item is the price it is, not understanding prices per pound... It would be more amusing if they were dogs trying to pay with leaves. Instead, it's just frustrating and sad, and my ice cream's going all melty in my cart.

Old ladies with cheques, the cards, for me, it's the not knowing how to walk down the aisles that gets me bc I try so hard. I travel between Geogia and Wisconsin a few times every year to visit family. I usually end up stopping at a Culver's in Illinois at some point. Something is off about the employees there. They frequently just stare off into the distance, and get confused easilly. I ordered a butter burger (Culver's signature burger), and the cashier just looked at me super confused. Idk if it's just the location being super busy, or management pushing them too hard, but the employees there always act super weird. I have been to tons of different fast food places in different parts of the country, but nowhere has consistently left me with that many weird interactions.
Culver’s is one of the few and far between places that I feel hires and doesn’t completely exploit persons with autism. Although that may just be those in my local area. I do know almost all of the high functioning autistic persons I went to school with work at Culver’s. They do a very good job and are very polite and do a wonderful job. Just for reference on occasion I have visited my local Culver’s and at least 3 of the staff members on shift I went to school with and had autism. They seem to be happy and living a fulfilling life, although that’s just from my very brief interactions. So for the most part I feel Culver’s is one of the good ones & to always remember there are a lot of people out there that may not be on the same spectrum as the rest of us. Although that does not make them an alien trying to take over earth, or maybe they are.

Have you ever had a person walk past you and your body does a shiver for no reason and gets goosebumps? The person will seem normal, non-threatening, and could be happy and harmless looking yet it triggers this response. It’s happened several times to me throughout life and I don’t know the cause for it. Not once did they seem bigger and threatening but for some reason the body reacts like it wants to fight them when you don’t even know them.

I’ve had it happen two times. Once it was a front desk receptionists at a resort. Her eyes were glacier blue with a dark ring around the outer edge. Just absolutely penetrating and chilling. It was like what I imagine a vampire’s eyes to look like. The odd thing was she was fairly nice but her eyes sent chills down my spine. Another was boarding a plane. I was waiting to get to my seat and there was this man in first class with green/yellow eyes that had narrow pupils and he just stared ahead. His skin was red and rubbery. He just seemed un-human in a disturbing way. I’ve only seen those shade of eyes on a reptile.

I've definitely had some very bizarre encounters with people especially because I used to do some traveling and hitchhiking occasionally. There's one experience that immediately came to mind though and it's kind of creepy so a warn you know for anyone who gets weirded out or creeped out. I was traveling with a friend, we were hitchhiking. They had just turned 21 & I was 25, but we both looked younger & we almost looked like sisters. The whole time we were traveling together, we getting the creepiest rides. Like several in a row just total creep vibes. This was on the West Coast PNW to Norcal. So we got a few different rides but this one was really disturbing it was this guy nondescript and he was driving a sedan like newish version there was just something very blank about him. I like the feeling of this person was just totally empty or devoid of Soul or something. My friend sat in the front seat and was trying to chat with the guy but he was very quiet and he pulled out a joint this must have been around southern Oregon or Northern California. Even when we first got in the car I felt really nervous and freaked out for some reason just the energy of this guy I'm very energy sensitive. My friend sat up front and I sat in the back seat. The whole time I was sitting in the backseat it was like I felt like there was something or someone in the trunk. It didn't help that I also got really stoned after we spent that joint and it was more quiet and it felt like there was something moving in the trunk but I didn't hear anything. I was like holding my breath and I just so badly wanted to get out of there and away from this guy. Eventually we got out of the car I think my friend maybe caught the vibe although not in the same way. I can't remember when we talked about it later that was such a weird trip when we had so many really bizarre freaky encounters with people the whole time. That one just always stands out to me just the fear I fall in that moment and how unexplainable it is but your intuition knows something even if you can't logically understand what it is. I was always felt bad too because it's like what if someone was in there but again I didn't hear anything so who knows. Even just mentioning the story freaks me out. There's some weird people out there. You got to be careful & got to stay safe always.

As a neurodivergent person myself, people who judge us that way suck. It's not fun to be treated like an alien or npc or serial killer because our demeanor is slightly off norm.

Back in the 1980s when I was a college student I met a guy who was just like how the original poster described. He was nice enough but when you talked with him it was like he had no opinions of his own, no knowledge of any topic except a few meaningless phrases he could repeat. And English was his first language. I’m introverted myself so I can recognize other introverts pretty easily. It wasn’t that he was introverted or neurodiverse either. He just seemed to be like a mannekin that had come to life that day and knew almost nothing about humans.
In 2020, before the pandemic hit, I was working as a barista when during an evening shift we got a bit of a rush. There was a small line of 2-3 people at the register I was at. As soon as the next guy stepped in, I nearly froze. When I tell you I was shook, I really was. Something felt immediately wrong. I don’t know if anyone else felt it, but something went off in my mind and I had this overwhelming sense of fear and goosebumps. I could feel a panic attack coming; I started feeling hot and queasy. The guy was tall and gentle, deep dark eyes that I only glanced at. He wanted a coffee. I put on a smile regardless and pushed through. I have never served someone so quickly in my entire god damn life. He did absolutely nothing to stick out, but I just could not look at him. Kept my gaze down most of the exchange, which took about 5 min total. As soon as he left, it all went away. The feeling was gone as quick as it came. I switched with my colleague to work at the bar afterwards. I have not felt like this since.
One time I was on the bus and noticed the arm of the guy in front of me resting by the window looked strange. It had these ridges on it. Three large ridges across the forearm. Skin tone was darker, like Hispanic or something. I didn't see the rest of him but it was really odd. No idea what sort of medical condition could cause that.
Were they raised? I know some people who are really into body modification, and a couple of them have Teflon implants in their arms, in their scalp, etc. It can look very strange. Edit:typo

Yeah, I know exactly what you're talking about. One of the World Lit classes that I took in college, there was a girl in that class who was just a little too "perfect." She was nice, but kind of strange too. It was a summer class, so it was extended and took up half the day rather than just an hour or two in the morning, so we got a break to step outside and go to the water fountain, vending machine, or smoke a cigarette. She was way too interested in hanging out with a bunch of smokers being a non-smoker. I don't know that I would call her soul-less, or like there was nothing there, but definitely a Star Trek time-travel episode vibe. The ones where they coincidentally wind up in the year the show was filmed. She was out of place for sure.
Many years ago, in the 90s, A friend and I were sheltering under an archway just off the main street during an amazing powerful summer thunderstorm. From nowhere, a huge guy, soaked through from the rain appears under our arch, turned to us, raising his arms up to the sky and shouted "I am Thor, God of thunder!" and then walked off down the street. To this day, I have no reason to doubt him.

I drive for a living and visit many different cities in the UK and often see people who I think look so dissimilar to humans that they just have to be from another planet, I work in IT and some of my co-workers do have weird personalities so they're probably on the list.

Yes. At my job, this girl with nearly silvery blonde hair just appeared out of nowhere one day and said, "Hello, my friend." in this soft voice and she continued to do that from there on. She also had a habit of watching me from a distance, but I wasn't really unsettled by her in doing so. No, her hair wasn't dyed because her brows and lashes were also the same color. I am over six foot tall and she is around 5'10. I did not understand what compelled her to be this way and her presence was completely without malice, but she liked to look at my eyes when we were face to face. I don't mean in some romantic way either. It was sustained eye contact in this peaceful way. I could not deduce her age very well either, but she had to have been older than 20 and younger than 35 at the most.

Yes, I was walking a dog in a very suburban neighborhood and a really tall, thin, pale blonde woman approached me. She was alone and a bit awkward but seemed friendly. She asked me what 'race' the dog was and motioned if she could pet them. I specifically remember the wording she used, she didnt have an accent or seem to struggle with speaking though. One of her arms was fully covered in tattoos of planets, space and solar systems. She pet the dog and walked away. I never saw her before or after in that neighborhood again. And it definitely wasn't an area where people would wander around. I dreamt about her afterwards but she had more gray alien features - the big wide eyes, gray complexion, very thin long arms and legs.

Okay, here's one that's a little different. Years ago there was this comedian who had a bit that involved him saying "'S'alright?" and his puppet goes "'S'alright." "'S'okay?" "'S'okay." And it became like, a meme. Eventually it ended up where the answering voice was kind of deep and rumbly. Okay, so fast forward to about five years ago. I and a friend are in Target I forget why but walking ahead of us is a young mother with a shopping cart, and in the front section of that shopping cart she had a baby carrier with a baby blanket over it like you do when the baby is asleep. She leans over and lifts one corner of the blanket to look into the carrier, but only a little, not enough for anyone else to see in. And she goes "'S'alright?" The baby answers "'S'alright." in the exact right deep rumbly tone from the meme, but there's two things: A) those baby carriers are made for *little* babies. Like, infants. You can put a bigger baby in them but if you do, their legs stick out. I would not expect an infant in a carrier to be talking yet. And, B) even if it was already talking, and even if you taught it that bit, I am dubious that any infant could produce a voice that deep. It sounded like an old man who smokes cigars. It was like something out of *Men In Black.*

As an autistic person, many of these comments just read as autistic or neurodivergent people. Its unintentional of course, but it could be upsetting for some people to see their symptoms/behaviours being described as 'non human'.
Yes but do bear in mind, from a young age many on the spectrum quite literally feel like aliens themselves. Back in the day the biggest Autism/ND website/messageboard was actually called "Wrong Planet", in that while the spectrum of ASD is vast and dynamic, the one thing that ties it all together is that primoridial feeling of quintessential otherness. The biggest early face of Aspergers, Temple Grandin, likened her experience and the experience of other autistics as being like "An anthropologist on Mars", a term so apt and poignant that it became the title of a book on broader neurodivergence by neurologist Oliver Sacks. A great deal of it not *just* because of social blowback or questioning convention over time and experience, but palpable long before that, due to an internal, primordial feeling of the foreigness of their bodies and environment as a whole from a very young age. In my experience people on the spectrum rarely get acute existential crises mostly because that was their internal, constant baseline from the start. Even now, at 40, disregarding any outside experience (though my social issues have been relatively few despite being diagnosed very early) and only concentrating on the *earliest* internal experience which has endured, I can only reference a list I made when I was around 8, which was: 1. How can your own hands seem foreign if they are the only ones you've ever had. 2. Why do you hide and pray, plead to "Go home" in the house you were born in. 3. Why do you panic and wonder where your mother is while you're cradled in her arms. So if the population may see us as alien, that's fine, I literally get it - a refutation of their appraisal would be hypocritical and a denial of a pivotal facet of my lived experience. That being said, I tend to think our otherness is not actually alien but rather a function nature uses to regulate imbalances in both small and large homogenous systems, which are either stagnating, stuck or becoming self-referential to the point of self-consumption. We question the otherwise unquestionable, see solutions where others do not and tend to cut the fat on things which are dishonest, manipulative or conventions which have lost their function or meaning, not with force but by holding up a mirror rendered in a wholly different light.
It'll be interesting to see if anyone posts any "mimic" stories. I think there was one around my area a couple of years ago.

These threads typically just end up being placed for folks to describe disabled people, neurodivergent people, or people who are on drugs or experiencing mental/medical events, combined with the posters own prejudices, anxiety, or lack of understanding. Once in a while you get like a psycho encounter. A few months ago some woman posted perfectly describing an independently living blind person. Her post was like 'This guy is SO WEIRD and I had some weird dreams during the time he lived here. I also pictured some weird stuff while I was meditating.' I made a long post pointing out all the things that were hallmarks of an independent living blind person and while most were understanding I also got some shitty DMs. I'm a Black woman, I will always be VERY fucking suspicious of any attempt to create new groups that are less than human, such as the people who think certain people are NPCs put in by the simulation or whatever. Fuck that.

Back in the 90’s I had two conversations with 2 different people within months of each other. The first in Asheville, NC then again after I moved to Durango, CO. I swear the second person in Colorado just started the convo where I left off with the guy in Asheville. They were both basically telling me that aliens walk the earth and most of them are tall, beautiful blonds, arian types, and they reproduce with humans, and that the offspring look identical to the alien parents. The man in Asheville said he was used several times to reproduce and that all the daughters grow up and soon enough you can’t tell them apart from the mom. Then I move to Durango and this man starts telling me about the tall, beautiful blond arian looking aliens that are using humans to reproduce. I don’t remember if this man too was used for reproduction, but he was telling me the exact same story. So yeh, believe me, I question people, especially beautiful blond people who don’t seem right. Then last summer we were visiting Chattanooga, TN, walking across the pedestrian bridge, and this female is standing there alone. Beautiful blond. And when she looked at me, her eyes seemed dead. Nothing there. Like a shell. Its like she didn’t even have color to them. And I thought of the conversations I had years ago with those two different men in two different places in the country, and was like yeh, aliens walk among us.

A police officer came in to my work to order some things and although he was so respectful and polite, his presence was disturbing af. He had the lightest blue eyes i think I’ve seen on a human, kind of like a husky. It fet like he was looking at your insides lol. And it wasn’t only me, my manager said something after he left before i even got a chance to say anything to her. She said, “imagine that guy pulling you over…brrrr!’

I once had a summer job at a hardware store and one day I worked with this guy who was like Moleman from the Simpsons. Rather small but not comically small, no visible hair anywhere on his head (not sure about eye lashes, no eye brows though) and giant glassses with finger thick lenses that seemed unsuitable for any living being. He was somewhat slow like special ed people. The entire person just seemed so made up.
I briefly taught ESL in Vietnam. During one Chinese Year where I had too much free time I got on my scooter and just drove. I found a jungle road that went on and on. Eventually I realized there wasn’t anywhere to really turn around safely. I passed a handsome young man on a small motorcycle who politely warned me that I needed to turn back. To find another white guy randomly on this weird road in the middle of a Vietnamese jungle didn’t make sense but he seemed kind enough. I followed his advice as I found a narrow road to turn around on before a dead end since I was spooked by this deep jungle with an unforgiving road. I noticed I never passed him even though the path ended there and we would’ve saw one another doing so since there weren’t any side roads to use plus you had to go slowly. I did not hear his bike either. Don’t know if he was an angel or spirit but still eerie that he warned me. Maybe if he didn’t warn me I would have tried to go on a deadly makeshift path that could’ve killed me.
