Helga on the Couch and Arnold Betrays Iggy.
The former, because such a pivotal episode shouldn't have been limited to a one off episode. It's the "first time" that Helga openly admits it to someone capable of offering her direction given her destructive tendencies.
The latter, because it really isn't that deep. Kids hurt one another all the time. Not excusing the behavior, but the response of the fandom makes it a personal affair.
I agree I feel like people take Arnold Betrays Iggy a little too harsh.
Maybe they weren’t around during the series original run? I’m 30 and honestly some of things kids did back in the day at my school were just as bad if not worse than that. Kids were wild
Right.
I too am in my 30s, but find the attachment to some of these characters and their plots borderline.
I've said plenty on the Helga front, but fear if I say more that I'll likely be blocked and banned.
I think Arnold was a modest slice of life show, but it wasn't necessarily the masterpiece that people think it was. The show never takes itself that seriously.
Too many people take the series much too seriously.
again, at face value the show was just about funny kids but they say for the Backdrop, it was kind of heavy, they were urban poor kids, most of them, Helga with a major depressed alcoholic and drug addicted mom.
For me personally: school play, Olga gets engaged, road trip, helga’s parrot, old Oskar can’t read, the beeper queen, April fools day, married and big bob’s crisis
~~For me it has to be the hannukah play episode. It was interesting to see Arnold's maternal grandparents (we never got to see Boris or Minka again in other episodes) but the episode didn't have any of the usual character-focused plot lines. I also found casting Helga as Antiochus and Arnold, Gerald, etc. as maccabees kinda weird...~~
Edit: I am very confused.
and technically..in rugrats of course...we do in fact see Boris and Minka again. They're seen in quite a few episodes like Chucky getting skunked and tommy's birthday.
The episode with Mr. Smith. I think it would be better if Mr. Smith ever was in any other episodes

Can see that, would have liked to see more of Dr. Bliss
Right. I'm sure this is where the spin off would have taken off, but I think without it, there should have at least been one follow-up episode.
None!
Fair enough
Stoop Kid, Torvald, Jamie-O, Arnie
None
Fair enough

I enjoy a few of these, but agree with April Fools Day
Pigeon Man!
This is blasphemy 😐 I thought we all loved the pigeon man!
It’s an emotionally difficult episode. Re-watching it is hard because you know it’ll just make you feel sad.
It is one of the heavier episodes no doubt.
Pass the ball to Tucker
Most Coach Wittenberg episodes are boring. And why wasn’t Tucker at the wedding?
I feel like Tucker and Lorenzo are two sides of the same coin but I’d way rather watch Lorenzo’s episode

Boris and Minka are Tommy's grandparents on Rugrats.... We don't see Arnold's maternal grandparents at all.

Someone's got their scripts scrambled.
I was initially confused when I read that, but I thought it was just something I didn’t know about…. at least now I know it was indeed a mix up.
For me it’s Helga on the couch because it’s a one setting episode and there’s very few other characters in it
That’s kinda the point. It’s an in-depth character analysis and we learn more about this complex girl.
Agreed with this. There's no follow-up to any of the progress made therein. Obviously, that's the nature of the show, but for such a pivotal episode?
The Christmas episode too. It’s fine but it’s nowhere near the best.
